Do YOU do any Martial Arts?

what fighting style teaches you scissor kick and psycho crusher? I don’t play Makoto so this was useless =/

It’s more like this, it must be muscle memory or else you’re already too slow. You also have to be able to “see” it coming before hand; if someone gets you with a cheap shot, you should be done (or lucky to survive). You see it by feeling what your opponent’s body intends to do, without even touching them, and already your body is responding. So, if you see your opponent and they try to push you, there are so many ways to deal with it depending on the situation, from using strikes, to wrestling techniques, to some kind of weapon or obstacle in the local area, and a combination of any of those. The thing is every person and situation is different and if one isn’t training such that they can respond to the little things, then you’re not very capable of dealing with a person who wants to hurt you.

You know you become a coach by going to a gym and give them your credentials. I’d say start at a small boxing gym, and talk about your Navy Boxing. LOL TYRESE AND JAMES FRANCO!

I think your best bet was to stay in the navy being a boxing instructor then go out on your own after building your cred. but eh.

I always laugh at that guy who used “chi energy” to beat people up, when he got in an actual fight and tried it then got destroyed. Poor old man.

I already am a part time trainer at an MMA gym. Eventually I will coach, It’s just a matter of things working out right.

OOH nifty.

Since you’re militar you probably recieved training in disarming and all that.

Good stuff though

yeah I didn’t explain that too well. i was gonna say it’s like parrying actually. I dunno a whole lot about physical fighting, but I know a lot about nothing

Lol, no not really. I was Navy, no physical combat training whatsoever. I had boxed intramurally at an amateur gym and just continued into the Navy.

dunno if you learn how to scissors kick or psycho crusher, but as said before Bison’s style is ledrit

Ledrit is Krav Maga, isn’t it?

Anyway, to the guy who laughed at me trying to replicate a 10 Hit Combo

Laugh harder, I pulled it off.

wiki’d it really quick. btw i’ve been misspelling it, it’s lerdrit. it’s from thailand as I thought, it’s the military form of muay thai. krav maga is an israeli martial art

I did 2 years of Kickboxing when I was around 7 years. 3 Years of Worthless McDojo Karate at my middle school. Even though we sparred alot and ue to break each others noses. We just this year finally had a BJJ/Boxing instructor move into Galveston, and set up a gym. I was pissed…Im almost 25 and now we finally have a real martial arts instructor with a 20 year record. Great. Just fucking Great. Well the kids are gonna have a lot of fun. Adults not so much.

Since most of my growing years are gone…Id rather do Krav Maga or Eskrima. Something I can learn in a few months.

Yes, I love martial arts. I am learning karate. It is really interesting to learn self defending activities.

There are 2 more episodes up

I’ve been doing Tae Kwon Do for about 12 years now, 3rd degree, yadda yadda yadda, but I don’t like to talk about it online because I’ve never seen a discussion on martial arts online that hasn’t turned into MY TEACHER COULD BEAT UP YOUR TEACHER.

i do bjj and a little thai once in a while . used to do shoto karate

thats the last martial art i would try, just seems impractical. try judo its a lot more realistic and fun

I did Issin-Ru karate for about 4 years, not really all that popular. Not alot of schools for it either.

There was a movie with the dude who is in East bound and down (red from pinapple express) etc
that was a karate instructor
Funny movie for sure

LoL, so you were juggling a person irl? Were you breaking boards? No seriously you are lame as hell if you think doing a bunch of fancy kicks is cool. You may as well just learn to dance

Depends what you want to get out of martial arts. i.e it would be more beneficial for a bouncer to learn Akido rather than Mauy Thai.
