Do YOU do any Martial Arts?

Also i think it might have been the best thing to get my girlfriend into exercising and muay thai/judo

She went from a girl afraid for herself to a girl who can throw combos, has a damn good plum, and yeah i still give her the pepper spray, swiss army knife, rape whistle to keep in her bag because there are dirt bags who would peep her and follow her.

Knowing she could throw a kick or knee or even an elbow or take the guy out makes me feel better.

Plus her ass is fantastic

as someone whoā€™s taken martial arts since i was 6(29 now) and someone who teaches martial artsā€¦this is really not happeningā€¦if it doesā€¦its really a rare case. combat sport or traditionalā€¦most people find a real balance to the art and life. they know when to use it and notā€¦its beaten over the head with it over lifeā€¦especially at a young age.

What a coincidence. Exact same story for me.

Us ā€œold timersā€ gotta keep on keeping on.

I have a friend of mine whom I told that her and I were going knife shopping one day. Sheā€™s talking to a new guy right now and there were a few alarms that didnā€™t sit well with me and our other friends. One time we were playing Street Fighter at school and when he literally yanked her over to him, one of us almost took flight. He somewhat gives us a creepy vibe since heā€™s willing to wait for her seeing she doesnā€™t want a relationship right now, and sheā€™s said herself that heā€™s been quite persistent.

However, there was a period of time where I was quite scared for her in the beginning (and still am) and almost paranoid. I warned her to be careful on her date one night and at least wear her rings (she has several). We did thought about attending a bonfire last Friday that he hosted, though we would had stuck together the whole time because everyone else but us would have been wasted and her friend and I had to bodyguard her the entire time. Basically, two of my other friends and I are literally her big brothers.

Maybe her and I can go knife shopping this Friday.

Knife fighting defense is typically taught by someone who has never encountered an actual knife fight. You are going to get cut up, no matter how fast you are or what martial art you know. If you survive a knife encounter without getting cut, you are REALLY LUCKY. Even gun-fu is at an advantage because someone is not going to come at you brandishing a knife like in a Crav Maga video. Most of those CCW hosters will never allow you to pull a gun fast enough to do anything about a guy with a knife. I saw a guy get stabbed about 20 times a few seconds when I worked at a prison, GTFO with a defense for an attack that fast that causes that much trauma.

Dramatix: Why is it your job to protect this woman from her own bad choices?

niggas been in clubs for over 20 years and know jack shit lol. Just cannot stop laughing.

If you pull out a knife in a fight, you have escalated it to mortal danger.
They have every right to use any weapon at their disposable and can kill you in self defense.

If you pull out a knife in a fight, you will go to jail.

If by chance I see someone pull out a knife, I run like hell, call 9-11, and say ā€œMAN WITH A WEAPON!ā€

There are other weapon regarded as ā€˜self defenseā€™ mechanisms, such as tasers, pepper/mace/etc sprays, and others. Use that. Do not buy a knife for self defense.

If by chance you have time to dig it out of your purse, aim it, and survive, the police will likely take you home.

@J-ride is absolutely correct.

Oh the pepper spray, rape whistle, swiss army combo is to scare and use

Some guys are that thisrty

Goku training!

Not too sure where to post this but a while ago I applied for a HS wrestling coach job (just did it out of random, looking for a new job). Well today I get a call from the athletic director and they want to interview Hyper Kid for the position. So I was not expecting this, lol. The thing is that I havenā€™t wrestled since HS. Itā€™s been Judo since. I stated that several times in my application, but hey maybe they are desperate for a coach. Anyways I did some research on the HS and it seems like if I were to get the job then I may be walking into a situation like the Bad News Bears or something.

Anyway I know for sure that If I got the job I would use a lot of Judo principles and tech to train these kids. So has anyone had experience teaching, wrestling/martial arts to kids (or teenagers)? Any advice you can give me?

Dude, itā€™s just High School. Your biggest fear is making sure the kids donā€™t get injured.

I used to stack ankle weights on my arms and legs but stopped because the areas would get swollen.

I only wear a 150lb vest now. I wear it on top of my shirt but under my sweater.

When I practice my punches I hold two 100lb dumb bells to each hand and Iā€™m used to the vest but I donā€™t punch fast. I practice speed without weights.

And I use the HalusaTwin mix:

Strength and conditioning and drills lots of them

Follow a program for training their s&c and their wrestling

You can find awesome programs on google instructional dvds. See te strengths of each kid.

You most likely wonā€™t have a Rulon Gardner or Matt Hughes in your team. But it is awesome shaping kids from nothing to warriors.

Always wanted to teach martial arts

Well for me I would love to train these kids and incorporate some Judo tech and drills into the wrestling regiment. Wrestling was my first taste of any type of combat sport. I originally joined because I thought it would be like pro wrestling (I was 12, lol). But either way, It would make me have to train even harder to serve as an example. Really give these kids something to enjoy and cherish. It may sound cliche, but like you said training these kids up to be warriors would be soooooo sweet.

Nah man

Wind sprints
Burpees
Hindu squats
Hill sprints

And 3 hours of a single drill m-f

got an e-vite for a bjj world championship going down nov 10th near me. kinda on the fence to train for itā€¦either way ive started to cut for it. nothing major yet, but havent fully decided if i wanna do it yet.

Eh if you got an invite why not? You busy?

I would love to enter a tournament again, but my saturdays and sundays are work days

Iā€™m still training for the Judo tournament at the Arnold in Feb (right before Final Round). Iā€™ve actually been working on my ground game and cutting as well. Not really wanting to face super heavyweights anymore.

lol funny thing is i got a bjj test/seminar to go to that weekend. fri and saturday of that weekend.
