Do people still build custom HAPP (or similar) arcade joysticks?

Somebody just posted a $30 SFAC stick in the Trading Outlet if you’re still looking for a cheap case @SidedTech , I’d hop on this one

Does anyone here own an old school MAS Super Pro Stick, or maybe the MAS mini?

You need to check places like Trading Outlet, eBay, Craigslist and other 2nd market sources.

That would apply if I were looking to buy one, but thanks anyway

Yes, what do you want to know?

I have been telling Doug at Foe Hammer to build a Happ stick for the past couple months. He is just hesitant there isn’t enough demand for it. If you guys want Happ/Mas style boxes let him know via email, facebook or instgram. You don’t have to commit to purchasing anything, just let him know that there is a market for HAPP cases and that it would be cool to see FH make cases for them.

Why ask about Mas sticks if you aren’t looking to buy?

Because I find arcade sticks interesting, thank you.

:coffee:
Thats the whole point of the whole forum.
That don’t explain your interest in MAS system sticks

Exactly

The tear drop top JLW with harder springs is a close approximation for a Happs style stick.

GPWiz isn’t for consoles, it’s strictly a PC MAME encoder.

It’s easy to build a stick DIY under $200 depending on your needs skills. The only part that is pricey is if you need a dual mod PS4/xbone and need to buy PCB.

As a PC only gamer a delay free USB encoder is $12… Console chips with dual mod $50-150 easily. Paying Sony and MS tribute for a licensed chip is the priciest part.

An MDF case is easy to build, a formica laminate, vinyl cover cheaply makes them look clutch. If you need a console support you can do a pad-hack for under $20 with a little dutiful ebaying.

MDF box, Cigar box, shoe box, pizza box > $20
Art/Plexi > $20
Stick Max > $30
8 Sanwas Max >$25

That’s $95 and I can cut corners on that, now that said you need skills and tools. I went ahead and bought a Atrox yesterday for $80 because I am without a quality saw and a soldering gun atm, but I am still going to mod it and end up with exactly what I want as far as custom art, aluminum bat top, hitbox switch and I will still be at less than $100. (maybe not after shipping.

@Jimbo13 I think most people seek out Happ size cases because they want to use a Happ Stick, or Happ Buttons, or both.

And if you asked most folks looking for these, they’ll probably tell you that they wanna run a Wico or OG Happ Perfect360 joystick. =)

Those things can go anywhere from $80 to $250 bucks, just for the stick + needing the parts/skills to run a stick that needs +5v.

So prolly a budget $250 ~ $300 is more realistic.

Just my $0.02

My bad, had no clue Happ sticks went for so much. I prefer a battop myself and just always figured it was a topper/gate fix. What’s the purpose on a powered stick like that?

Because Mahvel 2!!!

Spoiler

In all seriousness, it’s just a preference thing. The Perfect360 is just another joystick, but as with all other sticks, its got its own unique feel, and there really isn’t anything on the market that feels like a Perfect360.

Re-posting this to hopefully get it on people’s radar, happy to support those that are keeping the “American dream” alive.

@Feargus001100 I believe this guy put one in the one we sold him:

The acrylic window does slightly decreases the interior space of the case so he did express some concern about it possibly touching if the acrylic flexed while on his lap. He also got an all metal bottom just in case but I don’t think he switched to it. I think he just got it as a backup plan.
