Do Dragon Punch with an Arcade Stick

I just got an arcade stick (HRAP EX) a couple of days ago and I’m having some trouble with shoryuken and hadoken motions. I can do both moves in training mode very consistently. I can even do QCF x 2 motions reliably. UNTIL I get into an actual match. See, the problem is that in training mode with the CPU training dummy just standing there, I have no problem doing any move I want. In the heat of a battle, however, when you have to perform the moves on reaction or under pressure, I can’t seem to execute. I think that my problem is that I’m rushing the inputs.

Anybody got some good tips on how to improve one’s consistency under pressure? I tried setting the training dummy to CPU controlled (instead of standing) and it helped a bit, but the CPU is kinda dumb and acts very randomly.

Unfortunately, the only tip I can give is the one you almost certainly already know: practice. I had the same problem in earlier SF games, and for me, it went away once I was comfortable enough doing the motions that I was no longer thinking about them. I wouldn’t “think” about doing a qcfx2, I’d think about doing the super, and my hands would simply do the motion out of muscle memory. When you pick up a new type of controller, your brain has to retrain itself for those motions, and that just takes time, and repetition.

Great !!
