DIY: Dual Japanese Arcade Stick. Superior HSS-0130 clone?

Hoooooly shit, the bezels come off?!! That’s an awesome build, dude.

how much was the whole thing?

Is this a TV or a PC monitor?

With the words “Sony” and “Trinitron”, I think you’ve got your question answered, kudo

Trinitron may be tv or monitor: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trinitron

Thanks.
Only the blast city cabinets come off with a top and bottom half.

$90 for the bezel
$50 low guestimate for PCBs (got them in exchange for modding)
$30 Paint and other Home Depot bought supplies
$120-ish for panel
$108 for all the Sanwa part (buttons, sticks, balltops, etc…)

Total = :looney:
$338est, which isn’t bad considering some spend the same on limited editions Hori’s, that just can’t replicate the same arcade experience like, part of the actual machine:wgrin:

GDM-FW900. Best PC CRT monitor ever.

ill pay u if u make me 1 of those so how much would u ask for it

I couldn’t. Mine was $338 thus, I can’t imagine paying $338 + labor for something so easy to replicate. It’s a labor of love.

Agreed. Sony Trinitron monitors are amazing. I got my G500 21 inch for 4 bux from a GoodWill and its great :bgrin:

Great idea and great job on your work. It redefines “beautiful”.

notanoob you are a jack of all trades my friend. I tip my hat to you again my friend. You are the one that inspired me to start modding. Keep inovating my friend.

^Belated thanks:wgrin:

Almost a whole year later, the mod we’ve been all waiting for…

…a coin bezel:sweat:

Prep and install is easy-peazy.

1.Wash and lightly scrub with a degreaser or some form of soap (no bar soap)

2.Further clean with plastic prep (only because I had a can), adhesion promoter and then your paint (Rustoleum Pro: white)

  1. Attach with metric screws from your hobby car spare parts.
  1. Admire.

Excuse the Best Buy sticker

  1. Compare.

Speaking of the HSS-0130, there is a brand new unopened one on Yahoo Japan Auctions. Epic win.

Don’t tempt me;)

Awesome mod man, you’ve inspired me to search for parts and make my own.

So far, I’ve found a guy who is selling me two Astro City Bezels (one with the metal plate, and one without).

If its an Astro Bezel, you would also need to get a bottom plate (metal or plexi) as they are different from the Blast City ones. The Blast City upper surround and base for the control panel housing can detach, but the Astro cities bottom base is part of the cabinet.

Edit: I missed that you mentioned metal plate, is that what you were referring to, or were you referring to the control panel?

There is one AstroCity Cabinet on ebay right now… fully operative.

Hey guys, I just won a sawed off black CP cluster off of YHJ for 13,000 JPY! Question about PCBs, can I just get 2 PS360 PCB and install them straight in or do I need to rip out a common ground PCB from a 360/PS3 controller as well?

Yeah, gotta find a solution for the back, maybe a custom cut plexi with 2 holes for custom “Home/Guide” buttons.

Well, if you dont care about the original wiring (jamma maybe?), you could just take that wiring out and install 2 PS360, that way you will have both ps3 and xbox 360 support for your monster stick

That’s all I need right? I’m wondering how people modded their HSS-0130 or CPs without the guide buttons, is it possible not to hook up a guide button or should I just hide two 24mm buttons in the case itself?

So I can just re-wire all the cables to PS360 PCB and then make a USB cable out to console and boom, ready to play?

From the auction description, it’s custom painted black possible for home use(I’m assuming under mods) and it can be used for the typical Sega cabs(Astro, Blast and Net City?), wiring or title of the auction definitely Jamma.

BTW, this stick is for-sale.
