Can we get more Indiana Jones material now? I’ve always preferred that to Star Wars
Are you saying you haven’t liked any recent movies that Spielberg’s directed… or you can’t think of the last time Spielberg was a good director? There’s a difference. Even shit like Minority Report and WotW was filled with impressive moments and details that would’ve helped the asstastic Prequel trilogy in a huge way. As a director, I’d put Spielberg right now ahead most of today’s fan favorite directors.
Dude…nobody gives a fuck. Let’s face it: all we ever really needed was the original series and that’s that. The episodes movies proved that when it comes to the main storyline, you are going to give people headaches. Sure the main storyline prints money like no other. But they have all these untapped stories locked away in a fuckload of books which would serve make just as much money without really having to bother the touchy feely shit. Not only do they have the source material already written, they also expand the Star Wars brand as something other than just those 6 movies.
Fuck giving the fans what they want, give the fans what they need: a break from the Skywalker bloodline and a series of adventures into the rest of the infinitely interesting universe that surrounds the most epic episode of Jerry Springer.

which is one of the many reasosns why I loved Star Wars:Clone Wars. Not just the animation or the man who breathed life into said animation (we know who he is) but the fact that Clone Wars micro series was showing how not just Anakin and Obi Wan went through the war but how so many other Jedi and Clone troopers kicked ass. They introduced villains who were actual serious threats. Sadly here come the 3rd movie and it was all thrown out the window.

This is why Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 were such great games. Star Wars is like Star Trek in that the source material is so rich decades of good things can come from it. The problem is that often times the right backing isn’t put into it to make it come out right.

Spielberg is a director who gets really involved with his movies, and as of late, has suffered the same stupidity causing disease that Lucas did (Hello, ET guns -> walkie talkies), and generally makes things he thinks children would enjoy these days. He has never made a movie with the level of action required in a Star Wars film. There are MUCH better directors out there that SHOULD make Star Wars movies. Just because Spielberg is a big name director doesnt mean that he’s the top Star Wars candidate.
Seriously, go look at what he’s directed since Jurassic Park in 1993, and tell me what was an amazing great movie. Minority Report sucked. AI sucked. War of the Worlds sucked. Tintin sucked. Indy IV sucked. At least Saving Private Ryan was good. Also Munich was good but that was a different case (and not sci fi or action really, more of a political thriller).
And people hated the New Trilogy because of so many damn kid moments. Look at Spielberg’s body of work as of late, and what do u see? Oh yeah, kids fucking galore.
If Spielberg were to do a Star Wars movie, it would suck as bad as Lucas doing it.
Princess Leia now confirmed a Disney Princess.
So Disney is going to make Star Wars better than the original and we’re gonna see a lot of old folks who grew up on the original kick and scream the entire way like toddlers being dragged out of a toy store.
