like 3s did to SF lol
Osnap.
Streetfighter’s fanbase didnt decrease with SF4/SSF4, more like the opposite.

Which system would you guys say has a better (larger) community for BB? I’m guessing the PS3.
Too late for BBCS now. Wait for CS2 to come out to console and play AH3 in the meantime.
I got into fighting games with BB:CT. Since then I’ve picked up SSFIV and GGAC, help organize streamed gatherings for all three games and more on my college campus to help generate interest, and place top four in every BBCS tournament I go to except for majors.
In short, you’re a moron.
I’m a give everything an honest shot kinda guy so ill give u my opinion. I would say its a great game to play if you like a bit of complexity in your games. The thing that you will have the worst time dealing with is the combo system. Its harsh and it will take you time to learn combos. My favorite part is the uniqueness of all the characters. They all have a different feel to them which is great. It’s also not as slow as everyone tries to make it its not VS but its also not ssf4. All in all I would say give it a shot and hey if you don’t like it you can return it in a week for a full refund at gamestop.
i preffer BBCS over ssf4, but thats because i have been a GG player for like 12 years, also i feel that its a more polished games on terms that it brings more variety of gameplay, interesting mechanics, and isnt an snore fest like super boredome fighter 4 sleepy edition
while i agree that he should try the good old games, like GGAC, LB2, MOTW and the like, living in the past is not good, its like these suposed metal heads that only hear metallica and doesnt hear the new gems like supyre, circus maximus, etc only because they are metallica
you mean sf4
if you dont like the game, that is cool, spiting stupid shit from the hole that you call mouth is another thing, if you dont have anything to offer, then stop trolling
ok i’ve been a streetfighter and guilty gear player for years(since 2002) and here’s my opinion:
the game takes ALOT more thinking than sf.
being able to move around in any direction, double jumps, triple jumps, air dashing, instant air dashing, the three different ways to recover from being knocked down, strategic anti-chip/air unblockable move damage(barrier gauge), the guard primer system, strategic barrier burst system, instant blocking, block counters, failed grab attempts, basic moves, special moves, drive moves, negative penalty, etc.
if you are a gimmicky(one trick pony)/ super defensive(block all day)/ casual fighting(button masher) player, this game is absolutely NOT for you.
here’s more of what I’ve said in greater detail:
BLAZBLUE -Continuum Shift-: System Guide
before i go, let’s get one thing straight: blazblue is BETTER the guilty gear. why? well both games are really balanced, but guilty gear suffers from tunnel vision. EVERY single character is a rush down character. the entire game focuses waaay too much on knocking your opponent down and keeping them there. in BB you can’t do that and are required to do alot more thinking about what they will do at any given time. also GG made some of it’s mechanics way to difficult for new players to get invloved(false roman cancels) alot of them aren’t even needed and are just crutches for players.
if you wanna discuss this more, I welcome it.
IMO doing good comboing with certain characters is a lot easier than 1f links in SF4, although yeah, if you’re not used to almost always chaining into more stuff after landing pretty much any hit, it can be hard to get used to, but it really isn’t that difficult. Gatlings(sort of like target combos, except they define how you do pressure) and lots of special cancelling mean it’s pretty easy to get at least some damage without a lot of time in training mode, and most(I guess?) characters really aren’t that hard to do decent damage with.
I agree with dth about the character uniqueness.
you lost credibility with this statement, if you dont see the zoning, spacing, run away, etc on gg, you fail.
one of the reasons why GG is better than BB is because all the chars are so versatile that there are many ways to play them, GG is not only rush down, and you call yourself a GG player, what a joke
the dificulty on how the frc are done doesnt make the game better or not compared to bb, period
also saying that they arent needed or resuming that gg is only about the knock down its like me saying that sf4 is all about fdc ultra, there is more on the game that just that, saying otherwise shows ignorance about the game
hell even saying that BB>GG is just laughable
Hmmm, if you like fighters in general, you WILL like BB.
That’s how i see it at least. I love SSFIV and have played it quite often recently to the point that it was the only real game i played, but after hitting a certain point, i feel like a change of pace, so I’m switching to BB completely for awhile.
I never put some time into BB even though i got the original release of BBCT on Day 1. Now that i picked up BBCS, I’m putting time in to learn the game system as i love the game and understanding the system is my first step.
All things considered, it’s a brilliant fighter.
While I prefer SSF4, BB:CS can be fun when you feel like playing something different. My biggest complaint is if you’re playing anyone good if they hit you you’re not going to be doing anything for like 5-10 seconds which feels like a really long time.
Im on the same spot as you are, well ssf4 and left 4 dead 2, but I needed something else. I got BB just 2 days ago and Im having so much fun, what sucks though is that Im hearing that nother BB is coming out already? damn
it would be as a oatch for the current BBCS, at least is what the rumor says
In response to the topic, I think if you like fighting games you have to give this game a try. Also in today’s day in age of the internet you have sooo many more people to connect with, say unlike the late 80’s and early 90’s. I have literally just about every fighting game known to man. Unfortunately I didnt get in to many because I couldnt go to arcades and/or had money to play to get better. Consoles definitely changed that but even still you were limited to who you could play with. With the internet and sites like ggpo and supercade (spelling) I believe the pool base is exponentially better. The only deterring factor that many have is the internet is not as great as say Japan where there infrastructure is much more tighter which allows for crazy speeds. Still the internet in the U.S. isn’t terrible but obviously as you try to connect with others all over the world or even across state your speeds can and will vary. With that being said I think ultimately you have to play a game and just get better at it. Everyone thinks they can and should be able to just pick up a game and dominate it. Not the case. I hardly doubt you just started picking up SSFIV and was winning with ease, even with the lesser inputs that are required to execute moves. I mean I am a Super Turbo/HDR player who plays Dhalsim. I thought I should have been able to play SSFIV Sim with no problem. Well in theory yes I did but there are many different mechanics in that game you have to learn or you will lose period.
My question for the BlazBlue people is I have Blaz Blue Calmity Trigger. I bought it for both PS3 and Xbox 360. I love Arakune. Unfortunately for me when I went into rooms because my level was low I wasnt able to play with anyone and just stop playing altogether. My other problem is I see there is another BlazBlue game out. Do I need to buy that version say like when I bought Super Street Fighter IV even though I had Street Fighter 4 because no ones plays it? Also is there a thread I can connect with people to try to get better. As I said, I love fighting games so I pick up games relatively quick. Just need a little boost to understand the mechanics of the game.
Yes, you will need to purchase the newer version if you are looking for people to play with online.
You can try one of these two to find people to play :

you can also visit dustloop.com, which is devoted to GG and BB games.
beautiful game, but i can’t get my combos to connect online. i think taokaka is bottom tier online…
anyway, the spacing/zoning in this game is really something else. you literally have the ability to set up the entire environment to your advantage. most fighting games, your tactics revolve around the edge of your hitboxes and the speed and angles of your projectiles (if you have them). this game on the other hand, you can set up “traps” all over the place (including offscreen). you can also manipulate your opponents’ movements beyond block strings and knockdowns. you can create spots from which you want your projectiles to come from too. this is the stuff that sets it apart from most other fighters.
it also incorporates well-known nuances of many games as well. you can interrupt your combos to add more hits or cancel to avoid punishment. you have many options after getting knocked down to get back on your feet. there is dashing from the air and ground.
it’s a very odd game. half of the cast i would say is unlike any character of any other game in how you use them tactically and/or technically. the most extreme case being carl imo.
definitely worth a used price of 30 bucks or so.
I played a lot of SSFIV (probably not as much as others), and I just bought BBCS yesterday. I love it, I played vs against my bro and we just played the projectle/button mash game and it was just hilarious when you found a move that they can’t get passed, or when you dodge that projectile by the tiniest margin and punish the hell out of them.
I’m not sure if I want to use Ragna, but the tutorial kinda pushed me into it. I’m thinking of using Haza… something… I don’t know who I want to use yet, but the game is VERY enjoyable and it looks amazing. That’s coming from a complete noob though. I don’t like the Online much yet, I went one player match and got owned by the big robot thing, and found out after the match that it paired me up against someone with like a million points!!! o.O
As far as conventional characters that rely heavily on rushdown fighting game fundamentals rather than zoning, traps, etc. Ragna is probably your best bet, but everyone has some learning curve to them so if you think you’ll do more than mash just look up what everyone does best and use whoever does what you like to do.
Edit: Also, listen to Hecatom, He/she’s been right about everything I’ve seen in this thread.
