"dirty" Blanka Tactics

its not dirty you are using mind tricks on the opponent, you may not realize it but yo uare discrediting yourselves by calling these all DIRTY tricks.

They are awsome tricks for awsome people.

oh and i like to (when enemy is knocked down) to hop to and fro from side to side and get them to shoryuken on the wrong side, then they fall and i focus grab :D.

Did it three times in a row once lol

@Demon hyo
Few things:

  1. Against abel do you normally focus so much? Whenever i focus in that match up it ends up not working out very well.
  2. (end of abel match)Did that super really cross up? I thought super was guaranteed to land on same side of player, no matter what.
  3. Nice electricity pressure + ambiguous ulras. Was awe inspiring

DemonHyo, our blankas our…exactly…the…same…Doesn’t it feel so good to win with the massive library of mindgames ?

Very useful tips for a new Blanka player such as myself and I really appreciate your Blanka secrets :)! If you have any other suggestions or want to spar online don’t hesitate to add me!

Well, I like to use standing mk. (double knee’s) a lot, so sometimes I’ll do standing lk. (one knee) instead and throw them. It seems to work a lot as I guess they’re expecting the second knee to hit.

This tactic has been working out fairly well for me recently:

Against a cross-up happy opponent, move into a position where he can easily cross you up (usually with a roll or a hop) but keep holding back. When you see them jump, hop back into Ultra. Free 600 damage.

Another anti-crossup trick: When you’re down and the enemy is attempting a cross-up, do a hop as soon as you wakeup. Depending on the timing, the enemy will miss his attack or you’ll get tag mid-air (still good since you won’t be comboed).

I usually don’t do a quick stand-up against Zangief whenever he tries to do crossups and then hop away

Cute trick: After a focus crumple, hit them with a focus level 2, dash forward, immediately jump forward then j.mk. This is for people who likes to quick stand, allowing you to continue your pressure.

After bite throw, do mk. ball to cross them up, hop back over them and do EX up ball.

Blanka is only dirty based on the counter pick.
Just imagine Blanka vs Blanka with his roll being safe and un punishable.

If its safe from all attacks on hit I wouldn’t care, but being safe on block while breaking focus is the definition of cheap.

for god’s sake man, inthelightblue you’re bitching in every freaking forum there is, WAH WAH Breathless is cheap, blanka is cheap. have you tried just learning the matchup and practice hard and learn what counters “cheap” things. there are no cheap things, DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO TO WIN. if i see you NEVER air tatsuing or ex hado or doing the same thing over and over when i activate breathless, OF COURSE I’m going to abuse it. learn shit before you open your mouth.

Here’s a risky mixup I use sometimes when I’ve got meter to burn (and lots of health to waste):
c.mk, s.lp xx ball FA Lvl 2, dash forward, c.mk xx hop -> throw

If you nail them with the lvl 2 FA and throw it does over 50% damage and 830 stun off a j.hk. Replace the throw with HP elec and it does 980 stun.

I have been using this set up for a while.

I do a safe jump with Jumping Hk after a knockdown, and then I do U/B st.mp. After, I do cr.mk. If they stick out a poke, the cr.mk will counterhit, for an easy link into ultra 1.

If they try to reversal my jump in, I block and ultra.

If you have good reactions and can see that counter hit, this set up is very solid.

Ball aint safe worth shit. L2P

j.HK - mk - hop behind them - ULTRA 1 = ULTRA DIRTY

vs akuma i bait out raging demons about just outside sweep range and when demon sparks i hop right through it lol
ex rainbow land directly in front throw
hop through electric
bait a jump in hop back ultra 1
hop forward ultra 2 aerial- works great vs overeager shotos and t hawks
hop back at full screen ultra 2 for mass chip vs shotos then ex ball. 9 out of 10 times muppets seem to fireball after blockstun dissipates
ex up ball wakeup vs everyone
jump in fk hop through throw or elec lp
bait out focus vs downed opponent hop back big damage combo
duck elec vs some ultras or moves, e honda rog chun li etc
spam ball vs noobs lol
hop forward up ball on start of match- risky
theres a few i use in case of emergencys. didnt realize i was so filthy : )

What’s the best way to play a Blanka mirror and does anyone got some replays vs strong Dhalsim and Balrog players?
Thx in advance.

Guy really keeps the pressure on Sim but a good Sim would antiair those jumpins with his knee.

Wish I had a way of upping some of my Balrog fights.

probably mentioned… but recently i find charged partition rainbow ball to be pretty useful to set up any other balls or even U1.

Can you explain what you mean? AFAIK, IV doesn’t have charge partioning.
