"dirty" Blanka Tactics

what I have been changing up… and this works against smaller characters is…

On the start of a round MK rainbow ball, places you exactly where LP horiz ball will place you. So you can grab or do whatever and go over a fireball if its ryu or ken. For Sagat, it’s LK rainbow ball.

Also, a “dirty” thing I’ve been using is trying to perfect the placement of my landing on the EX rainbow ball to be right in front of them to grab them. Otherwise, I mix that up with the cross up and the floating above them to have them guess if I’m gonna cross them up or not.

The EX-upball on wakeup seems to always be safe unless Abel has an ultra meter or if you’re playing against a balrog with meter.

Another “dirty” thing… when the opponent is in the corner just about to wake up, I cannonball over them and do a LP electricity. It crosses them up because they were just about to do some sort of move… and it’s less predictable than timing a LK rainbow ball to cross them up.

otherwise, I poke poke poke, (c. LP, c.LP, c. LP, c. FP) and it spaces them perfect for… LP horiz ball grab! Otherwise, people have a tendency to unblock after the third c. LP.

and lastly… what I use a lot… after a crouching FP, people LOVE to jump to try and get away. So I FK upball cause if they try to grab you on coming down, you can tech the throw 70% of the time. This seems to work 80% of the time.

That’s all I got but I’m sure 90% of you Blanka players do these things! So if any non-blanka’s play me, they know how I play.

I’d say that’s the bread and butter of Blanka arseholery, i start with it a LOT, and occasionally when they’ve sussed that i’ll change into starting with a vertical ball instead.

Another “dirty” trick i use is consistently crossing them up at every available opportunity or getting completely outclassed n then turn the whole fight around with a single Ultra :bgrin:

n then there’s always the old EX horizontal ball 4 times on the trot, no 1 expects it 4 times.

Is it just me or does Blanka’s electricity have some kind of “God Mode” quality online? I ran into a few Blankas today, and all they did was spam electricity. I know moves that go through it like Boxer’s cr.mk and cr.hk, but it was just absurd. Moves that normally hit cleanly offline were trading online. Am I the only person who notices this?

Is this online bullshit or am I getting my distance wrong online but right online?

If it is online shenanigans, please stop doing it Blanka players. That’s the epitome of dirty playing, because non-fireball characters don’t stand a chance.

sounds like you are just getting your distances wrong.

Thanks. I’ll go work on that.

yeah let me know what else you got

lmao…waddup Aure…fancy meeting you here bro.

how are doin in Champ Mode? Im at 2584 gp…tryna keep up with all the good players in G2…your Gief gave me some trouble that last match :arazz:

you dont even want to know.when i turned my game on it said there was an error.im at 1200gp dude im so mad.that was like a few hours of play at least.

that suckz bro…that hasnt happened to me yet…ppl say you should quit the game first THEN turn off your ps3…hope that works…youre a good player…you should be in g2 with the rest of us

thanks bro to bad i gotta work my way back up.my thumb is busted

Walk back.

hop back slide, hop back c.FP, hop back jab BB all work well for me.

i like hop back slide on wakeup. risky but works surprisingly well…

ok i’ve been beastin on champ mode…and this trick works with the “better” players as well as the scrubs…

use Blanka’s normal throw (a.k.a. num num) and hop back, immediately lp roll (short roll), the spacing puts you the same distance as when the fight starts, and num num again…IT ALWAYS WORKS!!

if you’re feelin saucy go for a third or go for a river run instead of throw…

funniest thing is that flowcharts wakeup srk me all the time in this situation. becomes a guessing game for me

lol, nothing more annoying than taking those random dragon punches on the chin.

That’s when you bait them and time your roll so that you just roll and block it instead of attempting to throw.

I don’t see why you would go for a slide after a close whiffed ball, if they block you are fucked. Way better to use a cr. HK, better startup and recovery, no?

agreed. i’m reading way too many suggestions for slide. against a good opponent, slide = FA xx <pain>

the slide is too risky to use, stick to the c.HK

NaH, not a random slide. I was saying if you happen should so happen to pull off the shenanigan with the throw a couple times and want to go for a third go at it then try a river run …it works for me…
