They really don’t make a lot of sense but I guess it’s worth remembering for the sake of reading guides and stuff. Who made up that stuff anyway?
Lol. I have no idea. All I know is that when I was a kid and I played SF2, those were the names already labeled on the buttons.
I think the logic was to make one-syllable names so that they’re easy to say, but the problem is that forward and roundhouse are not =/
Also, since the original Street Fighter (1) had only Ryu, the names correspond to his attacks for those buttons. Sure, Dudley’s RH doesn’t look anything like a roundhouse kick, but Ryu’s sure does. Forward is still the only one that I don’t like =|

Forward forward (meaning :f:+:mk:) sounds dumb. And I don’t like saying “towards” to describe a direction lol.
