She’s glass, just like any other character in her health range. She is a one touch kill all the time, I play Hulk/Jill and I use hulk first. The same goes for hulk though, cause everyone is glass for hulk, cause he can do 1mil damage off a air throw and Jill arrow kick assist. To be honest most people in tourney matches with Jill, cant play her worth a dame imo. NonSexualRice’s Jill makes tourney Jills look like ass lol (he’s good imo). It feels like you don’t know anything with her cause she has so many options, more than most characters in the game imo. With Jill its whoever gets the first hit, NonSexualRice has to constantly remind me of that F+H, its so good when they start blocking low. Anyway, If Jill had weskers health she would be too godlike lol.
Playing Jill forces you to play and think smart, but I find more success for me personally using her second or even third, Crysis said it himself that she is scary with X factor, Shady K even admitted that Jill is godlike. She just takes the most effort in the game to be good with. Jill will get blown up when she gets touched, just like anybody else in the game. Health isn’t the issue either cause everyone now a days one touch kills you if there decent.
well let me put it to you this way. i know enough that when i watch her being used in most tournaments i shake my head at how poorly shes played. she does have a lot of options and yet i have yet to see really solid jill neutral game play–from myself included. but she’s so good off any hit/block of any kind…if i could just get over this hurdle i know the difference in results would be night and day
When I said that, I meant that I felt the same way as far as never feeling like you’ve learned enough with Jill. I hear you though, I shake my head in sync with yours (no homo, lol) when I see most tourney Jill’s. I like that she is not like every one else, I still need to get down mad beast combos too. I know they can help especially if your in a situation where you don’t have x factor and she is the only one left. Windzero’s Jill isn’t bad, but he uses her anchor. At least his Jill can put in some kind of work though.
i dont rly agree that health isnt an issue it just depends on the character, jill is the kind of character that suffers the most from having low health imo. She has no long range options and has trouble getting in on zoning, low health means that getting chipped or hit with projectiles is more dangerous. Also jill’s TOD options are pretty weak, 900K+ health characters can be hard to kill without very specific assists or using 3 meters, so in a lot of cases they can TOD you but you wont be able to do it yourself. I still dont understand why jill only has 850k when viper has 900K and morrigan has 950K.
As for anchor jill, i feel like she would’ve been a good anchor if she had less recovery on MGS. As it is right now with XF3 she can only follow up MGS with a combo in very specific situations (in the corner at SJ height). She already has TODs in XF3 that dont use meter (and build a lot), so if she had more practical MGS follow ups you can just use MGS to catch zoning/run-away characters and you should be able to build enough meter through her combos to use it repeatedly.
In using Frank and Jill together, Jill on point, I’m torn between giving her the somersault assist for the best cross-over counter ever in the case that she swaps out, or the arrow kick to give Frank an extra picture for instant Level 4. What should I do? Do Jill’s assists have other functions I haven’t noticed yet?
Sup Dunamis. Thanks for the shoutout. Especially with Jill, she’s one of the only characters that has “an aggressive defense”, Jill players need to realize how godlike her somersault is.
I don’t know what’s stopping Tourney players, in Vanilla jill was really REALLY stupid, and even now she’s pretty dumb. People are sleeping REAL hard on her.
i say go with arrow kick definitely, leveling up frank is too important to not use it. Cross over counters are great and all but its still very limiting when they have no good uses as assists.
I agree, Arrow is really good because you can level up frank with it, and jill in arrow kick is like a huge priority Wall bouncing projectile and allows huge pressure with Frank’s Zombie Swing. COuple the Zombie swing with his Zombie THROW( Charged move)+ her Arrow kick and it makes sweet zoning that allows frank to move in if for some reason he’s on point.
Cartwheel allows level 4 as well, but the only problem is that it uses a groundbounce, I made a guide that had several ways to get around that and still get to level 4.
Thanks a ton, Artisan and NSR! =D Now I need more help =(
I have to fight Haggar a lot, as my brother is my main opponent in this game, and he’s very good with Haggar. I’m having immense difficulties since Jill can’t pressure him the way she normally would just about anyone else because of his incredible lariat move. It’s absolute murder on Jill. Please tell me Haggar is in fact tough for her and I’m not just being really dumb.
I try whittling down his health by baiting lariats, playing it safe and patient with Chris’ mine assist (perhaps the most successful tactic thus far), and getting in with Frank’s cart leading the way, but the dude likes to jump and pipe, which is really safe and just annihilates Jill and my assist if it connects, and the Mystic Ray and Dark Hole assists he’s running make getting behind him for damage not only a difficult feat, but an often fruitless one, too. Is this the part where I have to learn to use the amazing somersault on command to punish absolutely everything?
I must look really pathetic and obnoxious with my constant returns pleading for help, but I honestly have never tried to tackle anything so difficult in a video game as playing Jill, and need all the help I can get. Great fun, though, totally worth it!
Most/all close range fights are in jill’s favor because of somersault, against haggar just somersault all day, it shouldnt be a problem because as long as you leave a small distance between you and haggar then all of his moves are slow and telegraphed. He needs to be pretty close for lariat to connect, everything else he has gets blown up by somersault. It only gets tricky when they’re being backed by a good projectile assist, in which case you can either use her dash to avoid the projectile or use you’re own assists to even it out, if haggar catches one of your assists without jill dont hesitate to burn a meter on MGS.
If he has downloaded jill’s gameplan he’s not going to to Jump+pipe so often, so your going to have to bait out his lariat alot more+ IF he has bars WAIT TILL THE LAST POSSIBLE FRAME and punish his Rapid Fist with a hyper.
Best advice is to go into training and just practice 22Sing everything; flip kicks, Carwheel, Arrow Kick, etc. From there, practice 22s–> 6 for movement and 22s–>96S for the offensive overhead.
Once you get 22Sing down, learn how to 22S somersault EVERYTHING. ’
Usually however, it’s pipe+Plus Projectile. Somersault his pipe then IMMEDIATELY MGS to catch his assist then Xfactor to take them both out. Sometimes as well, you can just MGS since he’s in the air if the assists are coming toward you too quickly. Watch out though, MGS Xfactor has to be timed quite nicely because sometimes you get an air Xfactor which jill doesn’t really benefit from. You can also Double Somersault, which is a harder tactic (22S,Somersault,cancel Somesault into 22S,Somesault again before she leaves the ground for more invincibile frames) to negate the beam. Following it up is a bit harder, but possible on
You can also use your assists (watch for lariat) to pressure him into not calling assists.
The problem with fighting haggar is going to reside in trying to overhead him. When they download your gameplan, they know your going to go for a overhead, so they usually lariat, xfactor. If you went for the overhead, you can cancel it into her double knee Drop H and follow up. Like said before, if you know they’re going to go for this and you attempted it, bait it out cancel back into feral stance, somersault, etc.
When you are near him and he calls an assist+he’s jumping piping, that’s your cue to go on the offensive and take a happy birthday.
It’s not problem, that’s what this thread is here for!
I see. I was labbing some stuff earlier today, and i found out that her j,Delayed MMHS relaunch is still here, but it’s MUCH harder to pull off, and the timing on the H S is alot stricter from MVC3.
Yeah I was able to do it too, but the timing is way to crucial, its not worth it to me anymore imo. I gotta start labing the Arrow kick without wall bounce shenanigans as well.
