Did you know about the release of Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator?

I would say that the problem there was the fact that ArcSys DLC is the worst. Extremely expensive, no packs whatsoever, and you know it’s going to be available “for free” in the next revision anyway. And no, pre-orders don’t count as free. They’re there to incentivize you into paying for a product ahead of time. I don’t get “free” art books or statuettes with the games I pre-order, I get them because the value of me pre-ordering is greater than the cost to produce them for the company. The same goes for having characters be free at release. It is a way to incentivize immediate purchases rather than waiting for a price drop. No such thing as a free lunch and all that jazz. Add to this the fact that it was known the next revision would be coming shortly anyway and I think it’s fairly obvious why people wouldn’t pay for the DLC characters.

That’s the true scumminess of the BlazBlue release schedule. Not only are there sometimes several full-price releases in a single calendar year, but they also release expensive DLC that will become obsolete in a few months. And please do note that I explicitly use BlazBlue there. While I don’t necessarily agree with the handling of the Revelator release, at least it’s nowhere near as soul-crushingly corporate as the BlazBlue machine.

SF5 has one of the best DLC models from what I see, I’m hoping the model proves to be successful. Purchasable characters with in game currency? That’s godlike.

Thanks for the corrections.

That’s damn near the way it USED to be done…back when games were complete when they shipped, except instead of spending currency in a virtual store, you just had to beat the game with a certain character to unlock another character.

I read they are going to scrap that model and replace it with real currency in the next major update

Hey there are dozens of us … cries like a weaboo in the corner.

Would not be surprised…

Actually, it’s only the “zenny” that’s getting nixed. Which is OK, considering zenny was pretty much real money translated into in-game credit. They just cut the middle-man, and will now allow you to buy stuff directly from the PSN Store. Fight money will still be available.

No, they’re scrapping Zenny in favor of real money. In other words, they’re getting rid of their fake money economy because it’s stupid. Things you spend real money on will be dealt with in real money.

We’re living in that era, where doing things that were obvious 20 years ago makes you a hero today.

It’s a shame I have to pay money to use an unlock code in some games, but my time is worth more than the $2 I pay - so I’m part of the problem I guess. :perturbed:

uh,…its not shitty. Well,…i’ll say its not shittier than the already massively shitty SF4. let’s word it that way.

Sf5 right now is a 6. When that update hit it’ll be a 7.5.
Then after season 2 it will be an 8.
Then will all the dlc is done with it will be a 9.

“Basically the same game” when we are talking about different iterations of a Guilty Gear titles is the perfect way to expose how little one truly knows about fighting games or how dramatic a game can change, when it on the face appears to be the addition of a few new characters.

None the less, just to repeat what a few have already said. Gamers are the cheapest, most spoiled brats there are. If you dont want to support the franchise and pay for the new version dont, but complaining that they are charging for new content, its really futile. You want updates, you want new characters, you grind in a game 100 hours a week…then show your support with you wallet. Or dont, its as simple as that.

Not to mention Revelator adds not only new stages, new colors (23 total), overhauled graphics, continuation of a cinematic story mode and tweaked mechanics but an additional SIX new characters and at this point 5 have been at no additional cost.

But since its an update it should only be 19.99 or some trivial price to justify ignorance towards how this thing works.

ANYWAYSSSSS

God damn Johnny is a monster. I might play around with him in my back pocket. I swear trying to find a secondary between Ramlethal, Slayer, Johnny, Venom and Ino has been so rough. I like so many characters in this game.

And let Dizzy be anything like her former self…sigh…Revelator is so good

$8 per character is just fine, specially when they are fucking unique and come with a lot of shit with them, like i said people are just cheap motherfuckers that like to complain.
Also the characters are free not only for those who preordered the game.
If you don’t have the game you can still download them for free the 1st week (now 2 weeks).

Also, the difference between each release of BB has been around between 1.5 and 2 years each game, with each BB being $40 after BBCT who was the only game charged at full price.
The only other BB that was full priced was BBCP Extend because it was a PS4 release.

Plus only 2 BB having DLC chars, which all of them were given for free on their 1st week

So please, recheck your facts before posting stupid shit like these

that is so factually wrong.

I actually prefer SF4 model, you can buy the updates or buy the physical disc.
Also, is quite unreallystic to think that any other company could survive doin this.
In fact, i only think that Capcom is doing this because Sony mnoey hatted the game.

DOA is able to survive thanks to all the cosmetics DLC that they have.

Is the other way around, they are scrapping the real money alternative and just leaving the in game currency.
It seems that they will add the option to buy the chars separatedly with real money on the stores.

One guilty gear character has the depth of about 5 sf5 people if I’m not mistaken…
Xrd sign is a solid 8.
Sf5 is most likely a future 9/10.
It’s not doooooone yeeeet.

Ultra was decent wasn’t it? started off absolutely atrocious back in 2009.
sf5 is a much better vanilla than last time.

what makes guilty gear an 8? It seems to be receiving near universal praise and everyone seems to be saying its the best fighting game on the market right now.

I assume the anime aesthetics

GG’s always had more of an “edge” than the typical “anime fighter” that you get out of a Melty Blood/AH type deal.

They have the best female character designs as well. Iconic TBH. All strong willed females, no damsels in distress of anime pop waifu airheads.

Plus, rock music.

Sign is an 8? Yet everyone is singing it’s praises, even people who haven’t been huge fans of the series in the past). It’s a solid 9, whereas Rev is a 10 fo sho. Also lol @ “future sf5 is a 9”. We are giving out ratings based on how the game MIGHT be in the future now?
