And if the bot has auto-loot, you lose regardless.
Yea. I loved bots in D2.
The more vids I watch the less impressed I am with the game’s art direction. I just don’t feel it.
No stat/skill points?
4 Player cap with no mercenary when playing with others?
This makes me sad. Don’t take away gameplay depth, add to it. :shake:
I don’t see how those things remove depth.
They remove options.
Like I said, can I have a Wizard carry a heavy shield? No I can’t. Because if I want 35%DR, I’ll have to look elsewhere since I don’t have enough strength.
Unless I have an inventory full of strength charms.
Do they still have charms?
Removing options isn’t always bad, and giving options isn’t always good. Ryu probably doesn’t need a command grab. As for the Wizard example, I always hated having to plan for how much Strength and Dex to have, because a) I couldn’t respec (it took way too long to add into the game) and b) the stats were otherwise useless to me.
Besides, D3 will have its own choices to make, and you’ll have to weigh the value of whatever skills/passives you loadout with.
Now you are forced to use only Wizard gear, because you will not have enough DEX or STR to equip anything else.
Sure it was dumb to plan before respecs, I will give you that, but now they give you the option to respec ver.1.0, not 1.11 or whatever it was.
Wizards can use axes!!.. But they will never have enough strength to do so unless they pile up on +str gear, jewels and charms.
I’ll play the game and I will love it, but I don’t like having things taken away that are important.
They might as well do what WoW does and put a class requirement instead of an attribute requirement on gear.
To play devil’s advocate: I really dug when D2 added oSkills, because it meant out of left field shit like Fireball Pallies, Iron Golem Druids, Whirlwind Assassins, etc.
So I’m all for customization that takes your character out of Blizzard’s intended role. I hope D3 has that in a way that’s useful (e.g., in D2 you get Metalgrid way too late to benefit from the Iron Golem).
Ya but no one uses Metalgrid for the skills lol
I’m aware.
It would have been [S]nice[/S] interesting if D3 looked like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mjrpNrxOAQ
but I still think it will be a good game.
I like the color. Dark fantasy is still fantasy; bedazzle me with man-sexy rainbow bright meanderings of light fractum reactum megalith soo
D3 looks just fine the way it is. It looks awesome imo.
Wow Path of Exile looks excellent! I’ll have to give it a try.
It removes an aspect of the game where I could otherwise spend time min/maxing my character to be the most efficent he can be in a specific area. If I wanted a Barb with a shitload of health and just enough strength for gear, I could do that. If I wanted a Barb with all strength and very little health and other stats for max damage, I could do that. Now, at level 90 two Barbs with the same gear will have the exact same stats, and will be exact carbon copies of each other. The only thing keeping those two level 90 Barbs from being completely the same would be if one of them has a +5 damage rune on his Whirlwind spell while the other has +5 life after each kill or something.
I’d say that removes quite a bit of depth to the game. Every character, with the same gear, will essentially be the exact same as any other. Removing options and features to the game does remove depth, especially when it’s something like stats/skills and faster hit recovery(found out they’re taking this out too a while back.)
I’m sure I’ll still get the game, but I feel it’s not going to be as good as Diablo 2, especially when they’re taking gameplay aspects away instead of adding them.
I 100% agree with most of the stuff being said here. Stats and build trees makes Diablo Diablo. That, min-max builds from hell (hee hee), and ultra leet cool combinations of stuff that shouldn’t go together in one character. If I want to be a sword-wielding Amazon, by golly then I’ll BE one. Crazy stuff.
Just because you can equip whatever you want doesn’t give it more depth. A sword Amazon? A 2-hand sword Assassin? You can’t even use your skills. That’s just silly talk. that’s not depth. Every decent build in D2 was basically get the required stats for your gear, then the rest was thrown into VIT anyways. Stats didn’t provide much customization to begin with. All it did was allow you to equip a bunch of things your character shouldn’t be equipping in the first place.
You want swords, pick a barb, you want magic, pick a wizard. It’s that simple.
The customization takes place in the skill trees, not stats.
Ahh yes, thank you. So take away one of the main points of why we played Diablo in the first place.
D1, everyone could use any spell, and everyone could use any equipment.
D2, everyone could use any equipment.
D3, everyone is going to down the archetype brick road.

No more Monarchs for sorcs, no more Stormshields for amazons, no more high dex dggers for necros (THEY ARE THE MAGE ARCHETYPE! REMOVE THE POISON SKILLS THE REQUIRE A DAGGER).
Ya that sounds great.
Honestly, I am sure I’ll love the game, it will be interesting to see how they get past this lack of customization though.
There’s no depth in a Ryu vs. Ryu matchup.
