Here’s a very interesting video of PPN versus an Abel player:

I think PPN is actually the best Sim in the world: he knows this matchup and how to use advanced technique like double tapping, p-link and other tricks that can be useful, especially versus Abel.
Let’s watch and analyze:
Of course he picks U2.
That is great to punish jumpin, rolls, missed TT and wheel kicks.
ROUND 1
0:20 After Abel focusing a j.hp, he uses b.lk. This will not be the only time. He guesses they probably are both with no frame advantage. This poke (3 frame startup) is faster than all Abel pokes (close lp starts in 4 frames, cr.lp cr.lk and TT start in 5 frames). Abel has no meter: this means that regular TT loses versus a well timed b.lk.
0:23 st.lk and st.mk (and a bunch of following limbs) are double tapped. This guarantees a better zoning, because both moves start in the first frame available.
0:29 he goes for a backdash after a blocked f.mk. This is a guess, because unfortunately a safe option doesn’t exist.
0:38 Similar situation of 0:20 --> after a FA liv.1 dash forward, he uses a triple double-tapped b.lk.
0:45 Very smart wakeup option, focused the first hit and dash in the correct direction.
0:47 Same of 0:20, but using a b.mk xx flame lp followup to get more space.
0:53 He probably try to use U2 but he wrongs some input.
0:56 This is fucking awesome! He starts the U2 input motion during the st.lk and conquers an epic win. A trick that should be mastered by all Sim player!
ROUND 2
1:21 COD can punish backdash after a blocked f+mk
1:27 an attempt to use FA lev.2 --> super.
1:40 Nice teleport after a backdash. He avoids a very dangerous f+mk.
1:52 Another desperate attempt to use super and escape from the corner.
ROUND 3
2:10 b.lk (double tapped) after a blocked f+mk. Abel went for a TT but get punished. The time for that b.lk is very strict, but I never tires of repeating that this option is really good in this matchup.
2:12 PPN chooses to change side to a little damage and a closeup situation on return.
2:13 He tried to use two standing late techs, then backdash, but he was punished by a great reading of the opponent.
2:19 Nice b.lk. The distance is far enought to be not grabbed, he predicts f-mk and goes for a faster move. I envy his coolness.
2:22 After a j.mp, s.hp combo, PPN reads the opponent frustration in that roll, and punishes it with a bnb combo with super.
2:26 Crossup fire and another bnb. One of the weird and effective trick Sim can use after a super knockdown.
WHAT WE’VE LEARNED:
- always use double tap
- The knowledge of the frame advantage and move startups can help a lot
- after a blocked b+mk PPN generally uses a timed b.lk or a backdash. He never tried a jump or crouch tech. So, stay away from his f+mk. If you’re at his range, backdash, use b.lk ,teleport or IAT.
