Thanks for the reply, SimSim. I think on a reactionary level I need to improve against moves such Tatsumaki and Shaolin Spin Kicks. As for Juri, she just irks me with her constant jumping and Cr.Lk spam. I shall improve though! I’m already loving the Dhalsim vs Kazuya match up and the Dhalsim vs Ryu match up. It seems as I’ve played them both extensively I understand their thought patterns.
Partner needs good damage output from a post launcher combo. Preferbly the option to pressure after this combo and either do more damage, keep pressuring and taging sim back in easily either in combo or on block. I would look for the ability to tag cancel safely from far away (seismo or jin’s fireball even). I would also look for a partner with a combo ender that let’s sim fireball run cancel in to tp mixup (hard knocdown move like ogre’s owl hunt).
Sim is pretty straight forward a point character that can whittle down the opponents health and launch in his partner when the opponent gets frustrated and makes mistakes. He also makes the opponent’s mindset focused on getting in at all cost, which will make it awkward to switch this mindset as you launch in a character that benefits in close range.
Sim can be used without the use of meter, though I suspect he will benefit more from meter usage in 2013 (blast=hard knockdown, ex flame has damage buff and can be comboed in to from lk slide (sim’s only 3 frame move)
Sim’s sniper tag cancel or fp tag cancel also gives you a pretty safe tag cancel if u run cancel. Therefor chars like jack (damaging comboes and keep away) can be played well together with sim too
I will need some hands on action with him to decide. I think he might still work pretty well, but he will be more prone to rush down than ever before:P Lk nerf together with boost nerf, slide nerf and flame nerf will make him have a lot more trouble landing his lk confirm in to launcher. I have already worked c.mp a whole lot more in to my game in preparation though, so I think I will be alright:) It’s just that he will have to make sure he has a lot more advantage before deciding to pressure with c.mp than he needed to pressure with lk in 2012. Anyone using lk to confirm to launcher in 2013 are playing very unsafe IMO: To link lk to lk is a 1 frame and to use boost as confirm is unsafe.
I have some ideas to abuse the new roll mechanic as a zoner, but I won’t go more in to it here, before finding out if it actually work. If Sim can take advantage of the throwable roll and being able to put the opponent in unreversable blockstun during roll, then I can see him being just as good for me (Since I didn’t rely on sniper comboes and I will stay pretty safe with tag cancel sniper even on block with the help of roll cancel)
I still havent figured out why they alwas feel the need to nerf Dhalsim’s damage. Some of his normals in this game already did less damage than in SF4. I think whats good for Sim is the change in the roll. In a sense he can maybe be a stronger turtle at the cost of damage it seems.
Been playing this game on xbox- live since release and reading this forum a lot, but this is my first message in sfxt forums. My tag is Macraiveli and at least SimsSimIV is familiar tag from live . Right now maining Sim/Marduk. Can’t say much about v.2013 yet, but i can feel the nerf.
Funny how few ppl actually use Dhalsim in EU, at least in online. I can only name me and SimSim in xbox- live.
I get mad when I see opponent hitconfirming with jabs or shorts now. I miss lk->lk link hit confirm more than I would have imagined, and I don’t know how many times I try to punish with lk and it either is too slow or doesn’t reach. Sim’s confirm/punish game was nerfed to hell. I feel like his drills have less advantage now too, but not entirely sure about this. I try to drill pressure and frame trap with c.mp and confirm in to links, but the lk and c.lp nerf is huge.
Sure your Sim counts, but if i understantood it right, even tho it is good, you were still maining your bad ass Gief. I sure hope that you are gonna use your sim more and more
Sim’s confirm/punish game got huge nerf indeed. First time in sfxt history i am planning to leave Sim out from my main team. Maybe going for Paul/Marduk. Huge damage in that team and Paul is beast now after 2013. Tried it out and it is possible main team. Vega/Marduk another.
But Sim is possibly out now for some time. All tho it is good to have good Sim in pocket if i need some zoning
This… The fact that they nerfed the LKs start-up and reach, hurts him more that I anticipated. Then when you added the reduction in damage to his the different variations of his “zoom” HPs, it now seems to take substantially longer to really damage your opponent.
I think he is a still a solid character, I used to play him with the default 82/91/104 defense gems. This gave 2012 Sim an increase in stamina while still providing for solid/ reasonable standard damage. But, I now feel the designers are making us choose. I.E. I am leaning towards the use of power gems, it ups his damage potential close to his 2012 version once activated. However, it comes at the cost of the higher possible stamina with the inability to equip defense gems.
So, now we really have to choose to use a lower stamina higher damage Sim or a lower damage higher stamina Sim. We don’t get to have both.
Not really and good set ups himself, but I think anti air super -> pandora, will work for some characters!
With Jack x Sim, I can (with 3 bars) do: Combo in to Hp dp with Jack xx tag cancel->anti air super with Sim-> pandora-> super with Jack. Can do about 800 damage with this!
I think I could replace anti air super with meaty Hk blast which I also get after tag canceling Jack’s Hp dp. I bet you can do the same with Bob’s and Sakura’s dps, and you can probably get the anti air super set up after tag canceling Ogre’s Blazing kick in a combo!
I’m using Sim with Ogre, so I would have AA Super with Sim after the BK tag in, then Pandora? After pandora I guess I can use cr.mk with Ogre to continue the juggle.
is trial 20 possible in 2013? they all seem to be links and with frame data changing has anyone tried this? I have just picked up this game so there is no reference point just learning everything from scratch.
