Ah, right, my mistake. So he can’t really go low during teleport mix-ups, as I imagine his slides are unsafe on hit. Seems like his options are to IAT in front, IAT behind, then going for a single or double overhead. You could also try to land and throw them. Am I missing anything?
I’ll give you a synopsis of what they do in IV. They largely appear to be the same with some differences.
Lk. Slide is good for the fast startup and recovery which makes it easier to keep safe on guard and it’s good for going under projectiles, jump-ins, high normals and specials, etc. It was special and super cancellable in IV, so far it isn’t in V. Good for tick throws as well.
Mk.slide can be used like lk.slide in many ways, it just has more startup and recovery, but it covers more distance. Good for spacing, but is harder to be made safe on hit and guard. Can combo into 3F moves at max distance
Hk.slide is the slowest. Used for punishes, fireballs, causes a knockdown. It’s much faster in V.
Yeah this is something that needs to be fixed. Lk.slide needs to be cancelable or the start of a target combo, preferably both. I really wish they at least didn’t take his db.mk.
His fireballs are god awful
champ is playing him on fgtvlive
wow dhalsim’s hitboxes make no sense at all. the limbs are clearly hitting the chacarcters and not doing damage
If it’s not known yet: Dhalsims instant air yoga flame is + on block. About +2 or so.
If you do b.MK xx yoga flame and they dont quick get up, you can dash 3 times and do IA yoga flame and it will hit meaty and be + a million.
Not sure whether i should post any more tech stuff i might find though. The CapCops might be listening in.
champ saying he thinks dhalsim is pretty good now and hes more of a setup char than a zoner
Yeah that’s pretty much what I said before. More anime/setup/trap heavy. The zoning characters that are in this game definitely focus more on setups than traditional horizontal screen control. I guess an attempt to make them more momentum based while still controlling space.
In the games I got with Dhalsim I did not loose. He’s hard work because it’s new but I see potential.
I’ve had a bunch of fun with him so far.
Kinda odd that none of my wins save. Beta ftw?

Also that his V-Trigger should last 30 seconds at least

Don’t know if already known but seem Sim can charge his CA into “levels”
There’s a video where he charge it until level 2 and the sphere get bigger, maybe there is a level 3? If so must be huge
Made gif

Nice to see Champ and Arturo doing well with Sim online. I’m more positive towards him after watching them play the beta. Starting to see some stuff I didn’t see from the old Canada Cup footage etc. Even basic things I never noticed before like how much better his forward dash is in this compared to IV. Champ in particular seemed to have his meaty fireball timings down which is something I thought would be difficult due to the nature of his fireballs and the wakeup system in V.
Champ confirmed on stream that you can’t do j.HP xx YFloat into another air attack. That would be too OP, it would be like Sentinel fly/unfly pressure lol.
I totally agree with the assessment that Sim is a trap/set-up character now. The fact that three of his anti-airs are special cancelable confirms that. You anti-air with b+MP, c.MP or b+HP, cancel into fireball, forcing your opponent to land on it, then go for a teleport mix up.
dhalsim has to be the hardest character to learn right now, his game-plan is so unusual + all of his buttons do things different to what you’d expect + all his moves have big start-up so you have to really plan and know what you’re doing, which you don’t

Damn it, if they want to make him a Marvel character, they shouldn’t half ass it.
b/c he has a slow float clearly hes a marvel character

This sounds spot-on to me. I played Dhalsim in SFIV more than any other character and was looking forward to trying him in SFV. Now I don’t claim to be good at Street Fighter, but nonetheless I felt lost. I feel like his long-range normals that remain are much lower damage, and most of his options are (or feel) very slow.
I had a Chun-Li in my face taking me apart with quick, high-priority stuff and I was able to block for a little while but ultimately had no answers. When I took a Cammy into training mode and went against a Lv8 CPU Dhalsim, it looked like he did a lot of comboing low normals into Yoga Flame but didn’t do much else that seemed effective. Then I fought another player using Dhalsim (as Cammy) and he seemed just as clueless as I was; staying patient was all I had to do to win.
Where do I even begin…? I mean, for starters, what do I do at close range, besides try to do the same thing the CPU did?
