Could you help me understand what you mean, here? You do the cb.FP then a cb.MP followed by a quickly entered ex flame, correct? If the cb.MP doesn’t hit the flame doesn’t come out. Is your OS related to a counter-hit setup created by blocking cb.FP?
Does anyone else think Sim vs Bison is in Bison’s favor in AE r is it just me? I thought this match was 5-5 in Super always but in AE its starting to feel like 6-4 Bison to me.
I’m sure you are asking a limited amount of people because most of us here have yet to play AE:P What excactly is it that makes you feel that the match up has become worse for sim?
I thought forcing bipson to charge his u2 might have made life better for sim. But seems some of his zoning tools good in this MU like j.mp was nerfed. Would love to see some footage.

Most of Dhalsim’s normals have been modified.
For example j.hp’s damage is 80,
and b.hp’s damage is now 60+50 so,
the “J.hp -> b.hp -> Light Yoga Flame” combo
now does 228 damage and 320 stun.
In addition, b.hk does 90 damage
and b.lk now does 30 damage.
His damage has been almost completely modified but,
other than the moves introduced in previous blogs such as db.mp and EX Yoga Flame,
his move’s startup frames are largely the same as in SSF4.
Then it gives two pictures comparing the damage of above mentioned combo in SSF4 (top) and AE(bottom).
b.hk’s hitbox is as shown in the picture below.
The area around his head has become invincible.
sim hitbox changes and frame data changes seem to fuck him up in the bison match now. you have to respect dictators pokes.
for example, in AE dictator can stick out stand fwd at start of round, if you press s lk, df jab, stand strong, stand fwd beats it clean
in super, common tactic was for dictator to focus through limbs and get in, which only worked at specifc ranged…but now its worth it at ALL ranges now. the nerfs make sim way more scared of focus attacks in general
bison can focus sim stand fp from full screen now and punish with stand rh after focus, every time, regardless of range
same situation in super? if you were at max distance when bison focused stand fierce, sim could block. this is very bad for him because now you cannot press stand fierce to keep bison at bay.
bisons hitbox changes, means you must respect his pokes, if you try to stick out stand strong, stand fierce, stand short at certain distances they will lose to a well timed roundhouse…even though the damage got worse at the tip the hitbox changes make it very favorable for bison to throw shit out there in this match
since you cannot stick out stand fierce, youll be sticking out more stand strong. this means bison can afford to be much more aggro in this MU as opposed to super. which means its in dictators favor to do more max range slides, more ex crushers, more ex scissor kicks because its all about getting that knockdown now for him, its bad for sim. bison scissor kick pushback really, really hurts sim gameplan now.
in sf4/ssf4, blocking bison scissor kick was not a guess. there were 3-4 fanges that you needed to know vs bison, at certain ranges, you could not press b. lk without getting counterhit. but there was a specific range that you always could press blk to push bison out for a second. now at every range except blocking scissor kick at point blank range…he is out of range of your counterpokes. this is VERY BAD. why?
because it means, after every scissor kick, you have to guess what hes gonna do on block. if you stick out a poke, like b. short or b fwd or the new db strong, you will whiff, which means you eat another scissors. so in reality this became a buff because at midscreen, its much harder to stop bison from pushing you to the corner.
this means you need to guess with focuses, yoga tower up close, stand short or stand strong, mash fierce if you think hes gonna focus, etc. but none of them are guaranteed anymore. the only benefit that sim has is…after a blocked SK, if bisond oesnt have meter, you can throw a raw fireball post scissors…but if he has EX, youre screwed here.
Overall, the s.lk change makes sim feel worse than vanilla in certain aspects. I think it’s the beginning of the end for sim players, he has more bad matchups in AE than he did in Vanilla maybe.
lol good grief. A small damage reduction and better b+hk AA means the end of SIM. Get a grip.

Capcom says b. rh hitbox is better, but in applicable play I’ve been getting stuffed a lot more. People were actually asking me if b. rh hitbox got nerfed from SSF4 before this. Now I see it’s the exact opposite on Capcom page, but the damage is still not there. It’s not like B. RH buff has helped him against divekick characters any more than it did in SSF4.
and yes, damage reductions and s. lk nerf do mean the end of sim, it maens people can go in super no respect now with offense/focus attacks

He feels that sim is relatively the same and will not move on the tiers (correct me if im wrong ryan). Also, he has said several times that b. lk is “the same”. It seems like you guys are on opposite ends of the spectrum??? whats up man?
i am really trying to wrap my brain around this… why exactly is he able to focus --> RH a fierce punch at full screen? Is round house start up faster? Is focus dash faster? why is this?
Also, I too thought that the increased push back on scissor kick was bad for sim… takes a lot of options away on block.
champ hasnt gone into too much detail with the changes to AE sim and him and I actually agree on a lot of things we were talking MU’s today…he informed me that he felt honda/gief were easier for sim and why (i can agree with that on paper, even tho i have yet to play those matchups) i also informed him how bad i think the bison matchup is compared to super since he doesnt have a lot of hardcore bison experience like I would.
we both agree yun is terrible for sim though, hes designed to naturally counter sim, its worse than Cammy in SSF4.
b.lk is not the same, as you can see fromt he devblog, damage is slightly worse. use db. strong more its the only move that actually got buffed.
I guess i’m more worried about b. lk still being 3 frames of start up for practical uses… I do A LOT of b. lk to df. lk to medium flame (to get people off me… and the medium flame is +2 on block setting up some nice counter hits)…
Have you been able to play yun/yang? I was curious about this matchup. I really like that they don’t have and “insta dive kick” I fell that they will eat a lot of standing roundhouses at the arc of their jump… but I don’t have the advantage of having an AE near by.
Also, I run a game night in cleveland and we have 50-75 people showing up each week and a lot of them are getting hard-ons over arcanna heart 3… seems like that game is getting some momentum. I only mention that bc i heard you like that game.
ive been playing isseis yun and once he gets in its free, you cant pres buttons up close cause you get straight up counterhit. which leads to you getting command grabbed. stand rh jump strong are ok against yun but if you mess up in your zoning once it can be very bad. and as you know b. rh isnt too hot against divekicks in general risk reward wise.
I havent played against a good Yang yet
its good that ppl like AH3, get them to visit homingcancel or tell niggas to peep the srk thread
right now… in super… one of my hardest matchups is akuma. i was trying to find some vids of you and tokido/high level akumas. I took top 12 at bar battles this past weekend. i lost to perfect legend in winners semis, then he lost to pr rog, then i lost to perfect legend again in losers final. if i win i would have been top 8.
I can zone akuma well… its just that when he got one knock down i was done. I was straight guessing man. He was option selecting my wake up tele’s and back dashes so I had to just hold block and guess. I ate demon flip after demon flip.
… and i guess i will have to wait for AE to come to consoles since cleveland doesn’t have one near by. I think thats 6 months away or something.

I don’t know his reasoning behind this so i cannot either deny or believe this. Fiurthermore we don’t have our ae machine yet so i have not played this game. Anybody who has played this game thoughts on why this would be so or not so?
I respect his game but saying Sim has ONE bad matchup is actually pretty ignorant. I guess Abel, Viper, Rufus, Cammy, Yang and Fei don’t count?
Just as ridiculous as saying its all over for sim because he got a damage nerf. Yun will give anyone without a reversal problems, you want big problems just look at vega. Wtf is he supposed to do against dive kicks. Sim’s game is the same, only an idiot would recklessly rush thinking the small damage nerf wouldnt amount to much damage taken. And if he does get in then you play the same fkn tactics to deal with it, now with an improved bk hk…oh noes its all over for sim.

The b. Hk is the same not improved. In fact I feel it’s worse but I haven’t spent enough time confirming that.

Stand lk getting slowed down and worse than vanilla does mean yes, he has huge problems keeping ppl at bay now.
Also the way his hitboxes interact with characters got worse across the board. I need more time to get specifics. I’m assuming you haven’t played ae cause if you have then you would know how the game is the complete opposite of super
