The only things I know about Devil May Cry are the anime, which I watched in its entirety, and what I’ve read in the associated Wikia, and, as an aspiring screenwriter, I guaran-damn-tee I could have written a more-than-passable DMC5 plot.
Which isn’t me praising or slamming this new DmC, as honestly, I don’t really care about the games.
Dr. B postuliert die Überlegenheit der männlichen Libido.
Oh yeah its always funny when a solid series that seemed to be progressing with each advancement meets an unfortunate end because of a disconnect with the company and the consumer. Hilarious.
I want to see more tears in here. My kiddie pool is almost 3/4ths full.
I must admit I was entertained, and this is coming from a former and now jaded anime fan. Dante was pretty chill. He overused the “one hell of a party” line though.
Dr. B can write a resume in 30 seconds. Me, it takes me a little longer.
I really hope that a producer from Capcom works with Ninja Theory on this. Just to make sure this game turns out right. With that said, gotta say I love the idea of japanese outsourcing their franchises to western developers. Very smart move, imo since that’s where all the hype, big budgets and innovation is at this generation. And, all the controversy just means they hafta try harder then they would if this was another cash grab like DMC 4. First Castlevania now Devil May Cry is back!
Castlevania was bad? I mean nothing was ever wrong with that series. Konami just got caught in trying to follow the 3d hack n slash fad and it was obvious. Though Lord of Shadows does look nice.
More than just a few Castlevania games were bad (e.g., Harmony of Dissonance, Harmony of Despair, Curse of Darkness), and more than just a few decent Castlevania games were just okay and wildly overrated (Symphony of the Night).
SoTN is overrated but it does make way for the new handheld CV games. (the good ones at least.) I’d also add Portrait of Ruin being bad to that list.
but my main point there was towards Konami going the 3d route with the CV games on PS2 being a big jump compared to the classic side scrolling 2d game it was. Illuminati made it seem like CV had gone downhill at some point.
OoE was a nice mix of old and new CV. It’s really really slow in the beginning but it picks up. Though I really love Circle of the Moon out of all the new RPG style CVs.
Why are people comparing this situation to the Castlevania reboot? Last time I checked Castlevania has been around for 25 years so there had to be some changes made to the series if they wanted to develop one for current gen consoles. DMC hasn’t even been around for 9 years yet and already they’re making way too many unnecessary changes to the series. I find it hard to believe that Capcom had to reboot an 8 year old series, because it was the only way to attempt to attract the western audience. You can increase sales by adding multiplayer modes, not by alienating your fanbase.
a lot of it doesn’t make sense considering the western audience has been there since day 1. Capcom is just lazy and clearly don’t know how to treat heir own games anymore.
