I would bet the theory that capcom is testing the waters for dmc5 holds water. You guys who are flipping out over DmC should at least buy the se version of 4 if you don’t want to see the series squashed completely (as capcom has shown time and time again that it has no problem killing franchises).

Exactly my point earlier. It’s also stupid to judge a potential market by rereleasing a fucking 17 year old game. Then again Capcom is fucking broke and probably don’t want to take many risks.

It’s really not a horrible business idea in this case. Aside from gauging interest, next gen owners are still starving for content- I don’t think there are any games of this style on the new gen, and there are obviously a ton of people who didn’t play DmC in the first place. Disillusioned fans aside, by the time it came out, the 360/PS3 market was saturated, and dudebro games/sports games seemed to be the majority of big sellers. People are more likely to give the series a shot when they don’t have 4000 titles to choose from.

I don’t think the market being saturated really had anything to do with DmC failing horribly. DMC fanbase is quite big but Capcom and Ninja Theory decided to shit all over the fanbase. I mean, Metal Gear Rising came out a month after DmC and sold pretty well, despite being the same genre (hack n slash). Yeah, MGR had the Metal Gear name helping it out, but the game sold well despite diehard Metal Gear fans whining that the game wasn’t another Metal Gear Solid game.
