But come on, SFxTK really was the public’s fault. There is just so many fighting games out there that street fighter title just got over looked. Its not a game with problems or anything. Capcom did nothing wrong.

Can you feel the sarcasm?

Any bad rep it got was strictly because of Taneem and NT poppin off at the mouth.

Yeah no it is not. Capcom projected the sales to be something like 5-6 million for this game. At this rate that will not even be remotely close.

You sure? I recall someone saying in here that they expected it to sell less than DMC4.

And if that’s true, that’s just fucking retarded expectations. 5~6 million copies on a rebooted game that they knew would draw a lot of hate on a franchise that the top selling game sold 2.7 million copies? Come the fuck on.

This is Capcom, they expected SFXT to exceed SF4 in sales and even with RE6 selling well. There are reports that it still did not meet Capcom’s expectations.

That’s why Capcom swung for the fences with Call of Dante here

Actually they want DmC to sell 2 million.

Yeah, they will just kill it instead of learning the lesson that most people won’t buy things from you when you insult them and make unecessary changes to a beloved franchise…

Who would have thought that consumers would refuse 30FPS in a series that has consistently maintained 60FPS, or dumbed down enemy AI and gameplay mechanics? Why would anyone be upset at the lack of lock-on in an action game in which you battle several enemies at once? Why are they so upset at the bastardization of fan-favorite characters and cringe-worthy dialogue and plot points?
Who could have ever thought that despite the throngs of yes-men game magazine reviewers and million-dollar ad campaigns that the type of gamer who could enjoy the finer points of the earlier games would be able to form their own opinions about this game?
Why bother giving your consumers what they want, when you can just shit out crap and then be upset when the people refuse to eat shit?

"I gave you shit! Why do you refuse it? In that case, then no more shit for ANYONE!" -Capcom circa 2013

After researching it that is correct. It seems Capcom lowered their sales expectations acouple months ago.

XD, I know people are hating on the game, but this is so retarded:

Like I said before, Taneem’s mouth pretty much killed the game. If he kept his cool and acted professional, I think people would’ve taken a chance on the game more.

That’s why Capcom swung for the fences with Call of Dante here

It’s still not a confirmation that this game is going to fall short of Capcom’s own expectations, because it might be a slow burner and pick up sales once it drops in price (unless you’re doing it to spite people I don’t see why anyone would pay full price for this game when it has “$30 next month!” written all over it).

If it does bomb the narrative in the gaming media will be “fanboys sabotage game sales because main character’s hair was the wrong color”, as if bad word of mouth and giving bad metacritic/amazon ratings actually does anything (remember MW2?). The bottom line is that this game is barely interesting unless you hate it for personal reasons or you like playing devil’s advocate on the internet.

You don’t need to be nostradamus to know that
Just see one of the top comments of the link up there

Leaving aside the stupidity of the petition, is sad to see how well indoctrinated are the masses that everyone assumes that the hate towards the game is just because Dino has the wrong hair color.

While I personally don’t hate the game by any means myself, Capcom made a foolish decision by practically going out of their way to alienate fans. Look at even the ingame concept art, even NT wanted to keep him mostly the same, but Capcom comes in and says "No, no, no, we have to change everything and make it so only 10% of the old base still buys it and rely on the new fans.

What’s worse, is that they actually tried to change the game to tried to hit a medium. While I like the effort, they couldn’t honestly expect everyone was going to have my kind of view and accept the game for what it was. The fact of the matter is, NT was on the right track at the start, but does Capcom want to listen to fans who also advocate leaving Dante’s design and spirit of the game alone?

It’d be a different story if (as someone said some pages ago) they just went all in with the changes. They tried too hard to appeal to everyone, and sadly, they only made it worse.

If the game does get a sequel, they damn well better listen to the fans and let some of the changes we want come to be (NO reason 60 FPS isn’t possible). Sadly, this is Capcom we’re talking about, and listening to fans (especially to a fair extent) isn’t their forte. No doubt a DmC2 won’t address half the flaws, and quite honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Capcom’s insistence for keeping said flaws going gets even NT to say no to making it. There’s only so much hate a company can take before they get pissed at the ones who practically made them do it.

Honestly, I was one of the people who was enraged by that first trailer. Then, I sat back and thought on all the potential it had as a new take on Devil May Cry… Then SuperNinjaTam had to go shooting his mouth off like he was the Tarantino of gaming, and that anyone who disliked his way of doing things was a “hater.” On that day, he basically sealed his own fate, and guaranteed that I would never buy anything he was involved with.

Then came all those glowing previews from people who have obviously never played a Devil May Cry game before and words like “entitled” and “whiners” were being thrown around. Then the panels with Tam and The Human Catfish…er I mean Alex Jones talking all that shit that they obviously couldn’t back up.

To be successful, a certain amount of arrogance is accepted, even expected… However, what I will not tolerate as a consumer is having my opinions and my person insulted and attacked. I’ve said it quite a few times in this very thread already that I will not be talked down to by anyone. Especially people who have their hands out asking for MY money. Developers and publishers need to learn their place–** WE** are the ones with the real power, the true control. Without a consumer base willing to buy your product, you are nothing. I thought it was the job of a company to get as many sales as possible, not turn off willing purchasers because you’re too arrogant and prideful to address them like adults…

Slow burner? you really think it’ll pick up in sales like that even after a price drop?

I still don’t get how anyone can love a series to death that literally comes out (and changes absolutely nothing) every damn year. CoD gets a lot of flack from people, and with its beyond immature (in general) fanbase, and insane definition of milking, it more than deserves it.

I rather have an attempt at change that doesn’t work out all the way, and they just do away with next time, then pay $60 every year for THE SAME GODDAMN THING.

Not a chance. It’s got about one month to make any sort of meaningful sales impact and then it dies from getting struck by LIGHTNING BOLT ACTION.

RIP in Peace, DmC…

Do you feel that us as consumers have a responsibility to not freak out and go off the deep end when it comes stuff like this? I mean lets be real, I saw alot of venomous comments from people about the game early in its development and it ranged from death threats to pretty much wanting NT to go under and fail. Like seriously, what kind of fucked up shit is that? I feel those kind of things fueled the arrogance and assholish nature of Taneem and Co.
