Devil May Cry!

Yeah I’m kinda curious what NT showed Capcom to make them start continuously flying people over to the UK to whip the game into shape, I’m sure it’d be quite something to see.

Probably enslaved combat
aka does everything for you.

fixed.

I can’t really call this game even mediocre anymore. the whole “Kat was raped by demons all the time” angle was so cliche and Vergil even being nice to a female a la Sesshomaru of Inuyasha is a pill too big to swallow. maybe as a one time thing as a sign of compassion, kinda like what Dante did in DMC1 when he saved Trish’s life after she set his ass up. but whatever. the writing is beyond bad and there’s nothing that can really save the game.

Lol @ the secret mission where you literally jump around for 90 seconds trying to get to random pillars. what the fuck is this? Sonic May Cringe?! you gotta be kidding me. If I wanted to do that I’d play Little Big Planet or something else.

I’m trying to find good things about the game but it begins and ends with aquila. Yaw folks talking about the combat being decent, sheesh. I hate to see what yaw think is great combat.

more platforming fun:

If the combat is decent, its decent. But then again you’re the one stannin so hard on DMC2 which also had decent combat as well.

Yea, that’s what I thought. I knew that Interview was wrong there was no way they pumped out RE3 and RE: Code Veronica while working on DMC1.

I’m just speculating what would’ve happened if DMC1 just came out as RE4, because apparently the game starred Dante even when it was RE4 (Kamiya said so in a later tweet, shooting down someone who asked if Dante was supposed to be Leon). Imagine that, Dante in a mainline Resident Evil game, and this was before Leon was suplexing dudes and all that Wesker teleporting global saturation stuff, RE was still Jill running from a tentacle rapist.

Yea, guys there is a whole document on this on one of the DMC fansites, I don’t remember which one, someone on Phantom Babies probably knows. Anyway RE4 wasn’t going to have any connection to the previous RE games. Dante was the main character, and was a paranormal investigator. Half the game was going to be the castle and then there was going to be a time skip where you play as Dante as a much older man and he looked liked the design for Sparda. Dante was going to start as Tony Redgrave and was going to discover himself over the course of the game. Basically what became the events of the first DMC Novel and was later reshuffled about for DMC3.

I wouldn’t mind revisiting that story path, even if they have to put it in it’s own universe/retcon older plotlines. Actually, I’d love to see the earlier RE4 version come back one day. Looked really good.

Yea I’d be all for them trying something like that if they would finish telling the story they already started first.

For this I can partly agree. It’s like this game is stuck in Limbo snick. But honestly, like I said, as long as this game gets a sequel then we (the defenders) won. Why? Because a majority (vast) of the detractors only spewed their vitriol so that this would be the only NT DMC ever made.

If/when a sequel is formally announced, all of their hate would have been “in vain”.

Depends if the reboot is a successful reboot for Capcom. So far consumer opinions few people saying any part of the game is better than what Capcom was doing and it is nearly unanimous opinion that the gameplay is a steps down to the old games.

^Bingo.
It won’t have a problem selling pretty good but nothing thats gonna blow the roof off.

Capcom wants broader appeal, so I imagine they’re going assess how wide NT was able to cast the net and won’t be particularly worried what the hardcore think. Look what SF4 did. I would call that game a true example of something being dumbed down, but sold infinitely more than 3rd Strike…an infinitely better game from a technical standpoint. SF4 got so many new fans into fighting games, few (certainly not me) would argue that it was good for the growth of the genre.

Basically, if more people are interested in the Combo Action Genre ™ because of NT’s effort, they will see it as a good thing.

Also…these niggas made 3 Lost Planet games shrug

What are they going to measure it by? I mean DMC4 sold the most out of all the other DMCs but we know the mixed opinions on it.

Was the reboot because they couldn’t think up anything to do with DMC or they really wanted to see if they can redesign the game for broader appeal. If it’s the later, I don’t see this game selling more than DMC4 (not talking just first year sales). And that’s mostly because there’s nothing for the old fans, so they’re banking on enough new fans make up for the old fans that they lose (not saying all the old fans are lost or hate it).

I would’ve been happy if I was wrong and this game was equal gameplay wise to DMC3 or DMC4. But everything is equal or lesser than to what Capcom has already done with DMC and the game itself is just an interesting take on crowd control, which is a style of action game I don’t care for.

Meh. DmC just had braindead crowd control.

what was their predicted sales anyways? didnt it go down from 5 mill to 2 mill? im pretty sure they could get 2 mill across all platforms.

Once shit hit the fan with the game they brought it down to 2 million. But again it ain’t saying much cause DMC4 sold the most.

when they projected the 5 mill they probably thought all old fans were going to buy it + new comers.

Yeah that was the logical thinking but when you have someone like Taneem constantly putting his foot in his mouth, shit was gonna go downhill.
