From what I watched and experienced from the demo personally. I may give this a chance (after the inevitable markdown). The weapon control switch thing is a mechanic that was hardest to grasp. Once you get this down and know how to keep enemies in the air, you’ll SSS all day .
I personally don’t hate it but not excited for it. In the end, it’s an average reboot to an awesome franchise.
-The story “doesn’t live up to its own ambition”
-Everything outside of the combat is okay to good at best
-The bosses suck
-The combat is the best part about the game, and even then it is mostly crowd control of dumb enemies
-The combat has a lot of gimmicks
-Platforming gets very repetitive after a while
-He thinks only 2 weapons are really unique
-It can’t touch even PS2 era action games of the same franchise
-The game fizzles out at toward the end
I doubt I’ll even bargin bin this. Story is ass and that was what I was most hyped for at this point. Here’s an idea people: Save your money, and use it to by more copies of Anarchy Reigns and then MGR when it’s out!
eh i am passing it , at least for right now ( probably passing it forever)
there is a new fire emblem coming out, and the anarchy reigns, though me and Platinum need to have a talk
why is the only black in that damn game a bloody sterotype, why?
seriously how hard is it to make a black guy who happens to just do stuff,
Everyone in AR is a sterotype.
Jacks a big dumb white biker dude who shoots first and probably never asks questions. The Rin Sisters and Zero are hilarious knockoffs of old chinese martial arts movies, the game is fueld by taking a sterotype and amping up it up by 10. BB is hilarious, but also pretty damn cool. Really like that character, ever since Mad World.
I like a lot of the AR cast. I think Rin Rin is my favorite of the trio though, something about her I just like. [S]she totally has stripped panties on her black color.[/S]
I like how there is a fair amount of combo freedom, as long as you know what you’re doing.
And that Max has a Gene reference color.
And that every girl has an infinite.
DahBomb gave dmc an extra point because he really liked the combat but to me it still looks boring. The environments may be diverse but alot of them don’t look like devil may cry they look more like god of war IMO. All the enemies are Shit, uninteresting.
Yeah, this will be the only DMC game I won’t be buying on it’s release date. Combat is the best part of the game like with the others but it’s just not as satisfying. All the boss battles blow and the not as satisfying combat doesn’t help. NT didn’t even fix DMC’s dumb AI problem. Hell it’s even worse with the easier combat. So DMD is nothing. They did give Vergil his own missions which is a plus in my book but Vergil is not as interesting to play since he doesn’t have Beowulf and Force Edge. Weapons are boring this time. I’ll admit Aquila is interesting, but I’ll get bored of that fast. Devil Trigger blows. Would have been better to just not launch enemies. While I was kinda interested in the story, there’s not ONE cutscene that I enjoyed watching like Vergil killing Beowulf or Hell Vanguard, fighting Dante, even taking down Arkham, Dante and Vergil beating Arkham etc. So all of the over the top essence to DMC is gone.
And of course, I don’t even see how the game can be called Devil May Cry from a story perspective at all. Dante was a devil and he’s been cast as Demon/Angel hybrid. I don’t like how any of the cast is dressed. Classic DMC may have been cliche but you could describe them and a people will know who you’re talking about. Despite DmC Dante having more combo options than Nero, Nero is still more fun to play imo. I don’t hate the soundtrack since I actually like Mundus’ theme, the Vergil boss battle theme, and Under Watch is alright but nothing is like Agni and Rudra or Cerberus or Vergil’s theme, The Time Has Come, Sworn through Swords etc. None of it seems like Devil May Cry.
Yeah, seems like not a bad game at all but the weapons and combat aren’t enough for me to ignore the “averageness” of it keep playing. Game seems to hover around the 5-7.5 range.
The only good thing I see about the new DmC according to this review, the hardest difficulty is available from the start. I really wish more games did this.
