yyyup…I’ve had a couple of people come in and say they aren’t buying the game because it’s more action oriented despite me telling them that it’s possible to stealth most of the game. Still didn’t take any interest in it. It’s been few and far between though since most of the time when people come into the store and see the trailers on the PS3 they end up shitting their pants…Kinda nasty to clean up every day ya know?

Dinte popping his chest-cherry for Image of the Year

This really shouldnt come as such a surprise, Kojima does quality stuff.
Japanese developers usually dont cater to casual gamers. Which is why MGR pleases us so.

No.

Japan/Asia are all getting bodied by the mobile gaming market (casual gaming market) and home/console gaming is becoming less profitable because of decreasing sales and increasing dev costs.

There were a few articles I remember reading where directors upped the difficulty for the West, because they believed we enjoy the difficulty. I guess the most obvious example would be European Extreme in MGS which is more challenging than Extreme. Also, link http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DifficultyByRegion

From TVTropes:

NANI?!

I remember reading about how renting was illegal in Japan and that is actually why they have a large amount of second hand sales, with shops specializing in that like in Akihibara (though I heard that this place is being changed over time and less hobby and electronic stores than in the past).

Don’t quote my shit in this mess of a fucking thread.

Also, Marvel 2 is a horrible game design, but that has nothing to do screw with the fact that it’s a VERY fun game to play. I’ve personally grown beyond it and I get bored of the game… But some things people just have to admit - Yes, it’s severely imbalanced, yes it’s severely rushed and has poor design… But it’s a lot of fun, and the fact that no effort was put into by Capcom has made it unintentionally deep.

To bury a few things - 1. The “Character / stage” specific thing: that was buried in XSF, not MvC2. The character THEME songs was done though, as MvC1 had them… AND STOP FUCKING COMPARING WHAT MARVEL 2 DOESN’T HAVE TO WHAT MARVEL 3 DOES. That shit is annoying… Marvel 2, although rushed and overall a poorly designed game was a foundation for a lot of today’s games. It was the original innovator, and yes, it’s going to have a lot of flaws. Capcom was in a rush to get shit done because of their license, so they didn’t have time to do new art work or 56 character specific stages or themes. They didn’t have time to do a full out “Oh, let me hold your hand and tell you every nook and cranny about this game” tutorials. Games weren’t like that. After the SF2 generation, most cabinets didn’t even have movelists for your characters on the cabinets. Nobody knew what the fuck you were doing when you first put your quarters in, except that the stick made you move and the buttons probably made you attack.

But fuck it… Marvel’s 12 years old at this point, and arguing over it being good or bad is stupid. The fact that it still has a following 12 years later, and the fact that it lasted 10+ years on the competitive scene says it’s a good game. It’s also a poorly designed game, but then again - most of the games (ESPECIALLY CAPCOM) were poorly designed back then… MvC1 and CvS2 are the only ones that I might say were not poorly designed and actual effort was put into it… You all are confusing game design and how good a game is… Marvel 3 is a very refined game - but the game is fucking trash to me… But it was designed very well. The same goes for Street Fighter 4… Virtua Fighter is probably one of the most carefully articulated series in the FGC, but who the fuck plays it? Like 3 people in the US…

Now go back to talking about DMC…

 Japan and their silly laws

What if I just wanna borrow a game (. - . )

I’ll quote you and stick it where I damn well please…

Sir.

It actually might be harder soon. Sony is looking into a patent on their next console to have an RF tag on a disc so it stays with a certain account. Though it sounds like it would really really fuck over retailers with physical copies so I don’t know if it will actually happen.

Dmc3 had the best difficulty IMO. I died very few times in that game but there were some parts that really made me sweat, specially the last battle with vergil.

does anyone know if the gauntlets have a dive kick move? I’ve seen that dumb ground pound thing, but gauntlets need a divekick.

I respect that game because it requires you to be a master at the craft of destruction, and consistently demands it. It was the first extreme combat game that I played to death. I died on Dante Must Die . . . . A LOT. Not because I was required to die, but my skill level didn’t catch up to the big leagues. After I became proficient, it was rewarding once I could breeze through that mode. That’s what makes games fun IMO, learning and applying.

Microsoft was toying around with a idea similar to this to track software that got installed and directly control it via bios esque settings on the mobo… they ended up scrapping it very early the windows 8’s development because of how opposed the public was to the idea. couple that with apple becoming a larger and larger competitor for the personal computing market and i think it sets a example for sony. It’s not like sony has a lock on the gaming industry anymore, this isn’t playstation one days, if they try that stuff expect gamers to give them the finger.

You guys are looking at this wrong. Sony is holding onto the patent and as they descend in flames into an early fiscal grave, they will take the patent with them to save us all. Sony are the heroes gaming deserves.

Sony has a patent that allows for ads to appear while you play games. If they ever made use of that their will be riots

I heard another ending rumor.

Basically, Donte is engineered by Mundus to fight the real Dante, and the entire city is just a test to make sure Donte is ready, and at the end, Donte goes to the real world where Dante is.

I don’t know if this has already been posted or deconfirmed, but thought I should post it to try and have one post of DmC on this page.

That sounds like the biggest bullshit I have ever read. I think that would piss people off more than what they are now.
