It’s pretty funny that all the trolls in this thread come off looking like bigger idiots than they people they are mocking.

He’s right. Dante always changed. Different face. Different costume, different DT form, different(varying degress) personality. But they all had something in common. Traits from Dante’s appearance. Sliver hair and the red and black costume. You can pretty much look at all the past Dantes and say “Yeah, that’s Dante.” Not everyone even likes the appearance of each Dante. It’s not even about shit like silver hair. I have no issue with the black hair. I’m not even going to say his trash talking is removed because this new Dante could be a complete asshole who talks shit to everyone. The backlash towards his appearance is simple. You don’t look at DMC5 Dante and say “Yeah, that’s Dante.”

Real talk. You could just take DMC3 Dante or modify him a bit to look more serious/angry. Some black jeans, black or white(like this Dante) tank top. And a red and black jacket. A simple look just like the new Dante. Even with the black hair and people would have said “Yeah, that’s Dante.” They introduced a character that looks so damn different that people don’t even recognize him.

As for gameplay, people don’t like Ninja Theory. So yeah people aren’t really confident with them handling DMC5. I, along with others, will try it and maybe even buy it if I find it good enough of a game. Yeah, some people are jumping the gun by outright denying the very existence of game before seeing gamplay but I doubt they’ll stop keeping their eye on it.

dante in DMC2 had no personality, because there was no effort to give anthing personality in the game, he just looked like some dude that watched his wife and kids get killed or something.

yeah he changed but in way’s you can reason with story continuity, I really believe people are jumping the gun, I think this “dante” will be interesting because the trailer is made this way for a reason, it’s not a reboot to erase the real dante- which this discussion you guys are having is kind of agreeing to

Let’s say for example that Sega announces that the next VF will not be developed by AM2 but by Ed Boon and the MK crew. (And as a bonus, Akira will now look like Justin Bieber to cater to the general public)
Telling a VF fan that he shouldn’t be pessimistic and downright pissed when he hears something like that is just trolling.

About the looks:
This is more than aesthetics. In a video game, which is usually not a good format for a developed plot and back story (I’m talking about most genres) the looks of the character are a vital part in expressing its personality. Ryu is the serious shoto and Ken is the more lighthearted one. You don’t even need to watch the endings to know that- It’s represented in almost every picture of the characters.

I think (and i’m sure) DMC3 is the only game Dante’s a goofy dude since he’s a young immature asshole. DMC2 dude doesn’t talk, DM1 he makes his twerps here and there, DMC4 is a bit of DMC1 and DMC3.

It’s not the fact if he’s a good character or not. It’s just a complete 180 that wasn’t needed for a series that already built up on something. The only actual “whining” are the DMCfanboys on sites like GameFAQ and Capcom-Unity.
