Onimusha had literally zombies with swords, tons of puzzles (some really good and really bad), you actually had to backtrack a lot, there was a character enemy that had many characteristics to Nemesis (he would grab you by the neck), the levels had creepy vibes similar to RE, and the POV cameras and controls were just like RE2.

so happy you could change the VA to JAP.
I didn’t know DMC1 was suppose to RE4. I just knew it was meant to be one of the many RE titles to come out. replacing zombies for puppets, dogs for lizards, Reapers for crows, bees for flies, and hunters for shadow cats.
Oni and DMC are my favorite games of all time since it combined everything I wanted for RE2 when I was a kid, well, 15.
I owe a lot to Kamiya and other directors for my childhood being so epic.
Oh ok, I knew about how the first dmc was suppose to be re4 but not the other info. Never played the old re’s and only a bit of onimusha

Onimusha is pretty epic. Even Dawn of Dreams is pretty good.
especially the cutscene to the last boss.

my only disappointment with DoD was the Black Oni wasn’t Black, LMBAO!
I liked Dawn of Dreams and got most of the super weapons from the really long 100 floor demon realm (I believe I didn’t have Roberto’s). It really messed up the Issen system though, since you can just use level 1 magic attacks to trigger it and getting the followup you can just mash instead of actually needing to time it. Onimusha 3 had it down very well. 2 wasn’t as polished but I felt it was done better than one.
The Onimusha games really feel a lot better if you try to fish for Issen. At first I kept going for the perfect block into Issen (which is probably the easiest to get used to), but then you can do more awesome things like a slight sidestep into it and do really cool wiff punishes. Onimusha 3 critical mode made you feel like a badass because things only can be killed that way. It made it a high risk high reward mode that made you really pay attention to the mechanics of the game.
I hate doing Block issens. Just straight out issening was always easier for me.
Which is why I say DoD is good while Oni 2 and 3 are excellent. I like Dawn but it’s not as good as the two before it.
Also hated being forced to use everyone for the boss Marathon at the end when being forced to use someone was never an issue before that. I had to restart the game cuz my Roberto and Jubei where at level 1 cuz I never used them. Shit was gay lol.
Roberto was so fun to play. He had all those sick rolls and weaves. I just didn’t want to stomach going through another demon realm run again.
Jubei was my most used character. I think it was because I had this one upgraded weapon for her throughout most of the game and it had a windslicer effect. The weird thing is that it did more damage than weapons with higher attack ratings for some reason. I think because it counts the weapon and the wind slice wave and it somehow took chunks out of everything and outdamaged Soki by a lot. Soki felt the most lackluster to me (as in least fun to use besides probably Ohatsu).
But hands down, Tenkai was the shit.
Roberto was the only character I liked using in DoD
I never got into DoD. I wasn’t feelin it when I watched my friend play and when I played it, I just didn’t overall like it.
Oni 1-3 are golden though.
Oh, yeah. now I understand how Million feels when he plays the music from the final boss of Bayonetta.
Onimusha 2 WAS MY SHIT!!!
Jubei is too damn epic. Nigga could instant kill foo’s with just his default sword. The original half demon, lol. I just hated the 2nd part to the final boss fight. still never hurt my experience with the game. so much re-playability. so many endings. so many side missions. so many funny reactions to which items you gave to each character. Dat dood Magoichi!!

Haha nobody wants to talk about the game in its own thread.
YOU ARE FUCKING UP, DEVS
RIP Onimusha. Especially 2 and 3. Capcom, sell Onimusha to Plat Games. Better than letting it get rebooted into some half-assed abomination. Oh noes, did I allude to something there?
I can’t wait to see Tameem Virgil.
Onimusha 3 was dope. Hella bugged me they didn’t ahve jean Reno do the english for his character.
Jean Reno makes me man moist.
E3 2012 Awards: Best Action Game
"DmC is so radical, so insane that it’s hard to take your eyes off the screen while you’re playing it – even though Capcom had hired a stripper to perform right behind us while we played (yes, they actually did that).
I stopped reading after that. Are you fucking kidding me? No wonder Max was too busy to demo MGR.
Ninja Theory and Capcom are run by a bunch of children. Confirmed.

How the fuck did DmC get best action game over MGR? Lmao! Fuckers must be high on opium.
I love the Onimusha games. Here’s my personal tiers:
God tier: Onimusha 2 and Onimusha 3: holy shit it’s Jean Reno and these graphics are retarded for end-gen PS2
High tier: Onimusha 1
Mid tier: Onimusha 4: something something Ono had something to do with it.
JUBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEI, JUUUUUUBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEI.
OH SHIT, IT’S FUCKING JUBEI YAGYU!
SAMANOSKE?
The voice actors were cheesy for the most part, too. You could relate that to RE as well.
