THEY’RE NOT VALIDATING MY NEGATIVE EXPECTATIONS, THERE’S SOMETHING WRONG WITH THEM!
But in all seriousness, their opinion is perfectly valid. They clearly know what they’re talking about, given their experience with action and fighting games, and they’ve actually played the game themselves. Which makes their opinion more valid than yours or mine.
Just because you don’t like what they’re saying, doesn’t mean you should go out of your way to discredit them. You’re just being silly, now.
To be fair, I don’t think it’s a good idea to compare DmC to DMC1 or even 2. The DMC franchise has come such a long way since the first game, which makes their opinions a bit less stellar.
…what experience does Maximillion have with fighting games?
playing early builds and being chum with the illuminati of the FG is having experience now?
He has a better track record as a video editor than a reviewer. If you want to take his word for it with some grain of salt sure. But I’m not going to flat out say I can “trust his words” because he’s basing his DMC knowledge off of 1 outdated Action/Adventure game and another most DMC players Shun already.
So if I’m a guy who played video games since the 80’s then this make my opinion more valid than everyone else? Okay then, so this means I need to give out reviews for the newest Final Fantasy game since I’ve only played FFX-2 and never beat the game. Who cares? My opinions are valid because of my experience with video games. I should get on youtube and start telling people my opinions about stuff I’ll never play, like the Diablo franchise but since I have a vast experience in video games, MY OPINION IS VALID so I suggest that everyone to buy the game even though I’ve only played the game under an hour, it’s my first Diablo game, and I don’t like the genre. Still, the game felt great in my hands so buy it guys! FYI, never played any version of Diablo, not interested and would never give my opinion or review of a game I’ll never play.
I really don’t care if these guys had nothing but horrible things to say about the demo, but cancels out everything once these guys say on camera, “this is not a type of game we play”; “I’ve only played DMC1 and a little of DMC2”. This makes themselves look like a couple of douche bags since the series has come so far from 2004 and you’re reviewing a game you have no idea about while having possibly no interest in the game or the history of the franchise. Then absolutely no mentioning of the obvious controversy behind the game. Wow! You either were never interested in the franchise but saw the gameat E3 then played it, you were asked to review this game, or you were asked and paid to review a game you know nothing about. IMO, they reviewed the game only because it was at E3. That’s me being fair.
Max can’t really say that “this game feels great and I’m a frame rate whore” when every game was at 60FPS and the combat system has been expanded upon since the last time you guys played the other titles. just because you played UMvC3 versions of Dante and Virgil that doesn’t mean the play exactly the same way they did in DMC3 or Dante in DMC4. 2.5D and 3D games play vastly differently along with Marvel’s downgraded versions of the characters styles and abilities like quick silver. They kept the essence but it’s not the same way that they played in DMC3. Marvel Dante is limited to button press and only limited aspects of his many styles, DMC3 was limited to style selected and LVL along with what weapon you could switch to on the fly. Virgil is probably the only one that’s close to being the same BUT we don’t get to play as Virgil in the demo, right? You can’t compare Marvel to Max Anarchy and you most definitely can’t compare Marvel to DmC.Just because Capcom published both games doesn’t mean they also worked on both games.
Uwe Boll should start doing reviews of video games now since every game has the budget and the usage of sets likes of Avatar which was used to capture the animation for the game. He has TONS of experience, guys. Who can argue with that?!
I have nothing against Maximillian but he is more for the casual crowd. Nothing wrong with that TBH so I don’t have any problem with his vid at this point in time we have to realize this is no longer the DmC we know. Time to either adopt it or move on, I actually think this game is going to generate a new fanbase even though most here think it’s going to fail. I don’t like DmC at all but look at it objectively the game is good enough to attract new fans regardless of what the hardcore think. The chances of seeing OG Dante again are very slim and one should be more mad at Capcom than NT because they decided that the JP DMC team wasn’t capable at all.
Sometimes I wonder why I still post in this thread when the game isn’t for me nor was it designed to attract the old audience, it’s clearly meant for new people to play. We can argue all day why this game is complete a$$ from the story to gameplay to NT developing but the response on gaming sites are changing and people are starting to like what they see. My prediction is the game is going to be solid come January, solid in a western game sense and not a DMC sense. I hope none of you guys slit your wrists when you find out in the long run this game will be the best selling DMC of all time. Thank god for Platinum though, showing Capcom you can reboot a franchise without having to dump your problems or lack of innovation on western devs and changing the core elements of a game. This thread is depressing I’m out.
That’s not saying much, this E3 pretty much sucked all around anyway, unless you still get hyped for Modern Combat shooters or Zombie games(Uncharted Zombie Apoclypse). I always have decent fun with Halo games, so we’ll see how that goes, other than that, MGR and that new Transformers game looked fun. Pretty sure somebody said in the E3 thread that Max didn’t get to play MGR either.
The whole point of them doing that video was to show their thoughts on what they played at E3. The bullshit controversy shouldn’t even be brought up at all. As someone brought up, they were there in person to play the game so their thoughts again is way more valid than you and each everyone one of us. Is it gonna change people’s opinions on the game who thought negatively? Probably not and hey more power to you BUT I tell you this much, the game ain’t gonna get any objective reviews especially if people can’t go into it with a clear head and leave the personal bias at the door.
from a casual standpoint, their point is valid.
from a hardcore standpoint, their point doesn’t make any different than any other person who’s said anything.
Thats cause the hardcore pretty much wrote the game off (understandable to a point) and won’t even attempt to give it a fair shake. Just sayin.
that’s where you’re wrong.
way too many contributing factors lead to the outcry over Devil may Cry.
from Inafune being a Aizen-troll then leaving Capcom, to Tam Tam saying out right, “fuck what the fans think”.
then it snowballed from there with added bull from NT and Capcom combined.
Just like “it ain’t about the hair”, it’s not about fans and hardcores writing the game off just 'cause.
It’s on the line of customer service, public relations, and egotistic gesturing from the publisher and the producers.
bottom line, if this game wasn’t called “DmC” and had nothing to do with the DMC franchise in any way shape or form, then this game would be more widely accepted.
it would be a dmc rip off then

E3 thread
Someone from SRK was there and Max left the MGR line
That’s how long the line to play was lol.
Actually if it had nothing to do with dmc, I think we would all be calling it a bayonetta ripoff.
it’d be a ripoff regardless. Face it.
This game was doomed to have a bad rep with the majority of longtime fans as soon as they announced it was a DMC game.
It being a DMC game doesn’t magically make it not a rip off. All it’s combat ideas come from other games. It has no new ideas (Regardless of what Capcom and NT say). This game is a rip off of action games in general. It’s a hodgepodge of DMC, Bayonetta, and Heavenly Sword and I’m sure I’ll be spotting much more once the game comes out and can see what the meat of it has to offer.
From a combat perspective there are no original ideas at work here. Just cherry picking stuff from the best the genre has to offer.
other than that, DmC is a ripoff of many things; not just the DMC franchise.
But no one would care if the game played similar to DMC since it has nothing to do with DMC.
Just like the Onimusha franchise coming out before DMC yet both games were similar to RE. Still, no one called them RE ripoffs. I think I remember a writer from EGM calling them, “Resident Evil inspired spin offs”.
People were too focused on bitching about both games 2nd installments. One having a new main character with a new supporting cast along with a new item system with story-changing outcomes. the other not having the original team working on the game, the game feeling short, and not nearly as challenging.
How was Onimusha and DMC similiar to RE?
DMC is an actual spin off of RE in the sense. (I can’t remember as I always forget but it was a tech demo or something to that sort that became a real game.)
Onimusha’s controls play just like OG RE controls. (clunky dpad movement, holding down a button to run, etc.) Along with using pre-rendered backgrounds all the way up to Onimusha 3 and 4.

Onimusha was Re with swords, and DMC was originally RE4.
DMC was actually RE4 in the beginning but what Kamiya was making was turning out to be much too action packed for an RE game (Ironic now when I think about it…). At the same time another team was deving Onimusha 1 when they ran across a bug that let them juggle the enemies in the air with the swords. They took that glitch and implemented it into RE4 and then changed it from RE4 to DMC.
Kamiya’s RE4 was actually going to take place over a large span of time. You’d play as a detective named Tony who investigates a castle infested with Zombies. There would then be a time skip and you’d play as a much much older Tony (The Legendary Dark Knight design comes from this original concept) and have to do some other case. There’s not a lot of details on either half of the game, but there are much much few details on the second half.
