Well, the level of your light still depends on your armor and weapons, in fact is your light that determinates how succesful you are against enemies or not now, instead of your level, for example, my friends and me are level 34 and Atheon was giving us problems because we were only like 20 points over the minimu. light level necessary to fight VoG on hard.
Everything hits harder now.
From what i understand, it has been always a beast on cruicible, outside of it is just poop.
Yea, the way I’ve come to understand it is that your level is used to unlock and participate in content, while Light determines how affective you are in that content.
This is what I’m talking about lol. I have you on my friends list and had no idea who you were. If the game had clan support this wouldn’t be an issue.
So got my ass to 34 and did a heoric Omingul. holy crap was she a pain in the A$$. So i’m 34 any suggestion to get a better pew pew? Patrols or try to get some peeps for some raids? Still rocking voidwalker warlock and maybe ill lvl sunsinger when i can. Unless somebody else has any ideas.
If you’re looking for Exotics…check what Xur is selling this weekend, do the Nightfall, do PoE, and try to find people for the Raids. Those are your best bets.
Just so everyone is aware you can dismantle Motes of light and that gives you a SHIT TON of exp to whatever you have currently equipped.
Maxed out a new exotic in a little over 10 motes.
They changed the way the armor values and the attack values for all the weapons. These both affect your light level, as the light level is now the average of all the values of your equipped items. Even the bond/cloak/mark you wear and the ghost shell you use (which is on sale now for like 250 glimmer) has a defense value that is factored into the average.
However, this doesn’t mean you’re weaker in general if you use different weapons. You can still kill the same level enemies you would have before. It’s weird and I probably don’t have a grasp on this like someone else would.
The main reason that light and your level are now separate is so that your level is no longer dependent on a certain loot drop. If you were missing a piece of Raid armor, you could not reach max level, and the difference in being under a level was quite severe.
The big power spike between levels is the second reason why light and level is now separate. In Year 1, your level didn’t go up until you hit a certain threshold . For example, lets say you had 140 light and you need 150 light to increase your level from 33-34. If you got a piece of armor that increased your light to 149, you actually don’t get any stronger. That means from light 140-149 you remain the same and dont get stronger until you get 150 light.
Now with 2.0, you gain in light with every upgrade you make, which raises your attack and defense rating. Which means you now become strong between light 140-141 instead of only becoming stronger between 140-150. You get stronger in smaller increments instead of large spikes, and the difference between a level 40 enemy and 41 enemy wont be as great.
Pulse rifles are going to be the go-to weapons in PVP now. AR’s and Hand Cannons will be good though. At least I’m not being sniped from across the map by TLW and Thorn.
That always pissed me off. It’s a fucking revolver. How the hell does it hit me from across a football field?
I never had Thorn, so someone enlighten me as to how bad the nerfs are for it.
