Desperate with a Stick :(

You might want to put a little more effort in your progress in SFIV - I am not attacking you, just mentioning.

It took me 3 seconds to find a ‘wine glass grip’ pic: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?p=6497781

There probably is a bigger thread regarding this issue already then the one I pasted, it’s up to you to find it.

Last thing, jaygameizta kinda said it in this thread - you need to experience the value of a stick yourself in order to have a decent opinion. My opinion: stick > pad, for what it’s worth.

I’m getting the feel for it a little more now I think. With charge characters anyways.

im training like hell with this stick. I mean you couldn’t actually train more than I do LOL

While I can understand how frustrated you must be, breaking your fightpad has solved nothing. You could have just put it down and gone to make yourself a sandwhich or somthing. Playing to win is one thing, but playing to the point that you are not enjoying yourself is pointless.
Just give it a rest. When you feel good, play again. Practice is obviously key, I have noticed myself getting better (albeit slowly) despite being socked in the face repeatedly by players both better and worse than me. Being beaten by a flowchart Ken because you just don’t have your head on straight can either infuriate you or cause you to step back and think about what you were doing wrong.

tl;dr Relax, try again.

I’ve started using an EX2 (never used a stick before) and feel pretty comfortable with two fingers curled round the ball top & my ring and pinky underneath. looks kinda like a tilted wineglass. quarter circles, half circles + dashes both ways are super easy… I just need to get used to jumping + blocking

then it’s time to grab an SE and swap in some tastier parts. it’s wayyy more comfortable doing EX specials and whatnot on a stick, though. not to mention pianoing slaps / lightning legs type moves.

I got a nice whooping today. The guy was decent but me not being able execute at 100% or even 75% really hurt. The worst is when I want to do a quick SRK and it just doesn’t come out. This happens like 70% of the time. I’d just punch. This is especially painful against a decent player who will combo your for big damage due to a jump in.

Just talked with an other friend. He also said that if you’ve never played with stick it will take 1 year. these are horrible news for me.

No, never !
I hope it will never take 1 year.

I cant get any fightstick (Hori / Madcatz) in europe(Germany)

Has anybody an idea where i can look for a fight stick.

Amazon is sold out, gameshark doesnt deliver to europe.

:crybaby:

Amazon had 2 Se’s in stock last friday, i bought one

Keep checking seems like they are coming back in stock (it was sold by Amazon and not a trader)

mix-image.com

its in switzerland but they have about 50 fight sticks in stock

Could we please stop calling them fightsticks? If you’re referring to the SE madcatz, sure that’s a fighstick but that’s the product name, it is not the name of the general item.
Like kleenex to a tissue or coke for a soda. The only difference is kleenexes and cokes are good products.

thanks, but the price is realy heavy :amazed:

:shy: arcade stick

yes but you will have it at the end of the week

I dunno if Bol deliver outside of Holland, but that is where I have my order. Currently there is a 3-4 week waiting time (at least). They said I’d get mine on the 14th, but frankly I’m having a hard time believing it.

Thank you for this info but i dont pay 120 Euro for the SE when i can get the TE in 2 Weeks for the same price.

Try making learning to dash fun. I would dash in and out of various block strings and it kept me from being bored. Just make sure you’re doing everything correctly (in a way that’s comfortable for you that gives good results) and you should be good to go after enough repetition.

What button Config do you RYU players use with the TE Stick???

default arcade stick config.

lp mp hp
lk mk hk

i slowly start getting used to the stick. the problem is just, that im so bad if my opponent is on the right side

This.

In the beginning, when training comboes and jumpins/crossup, I tended to just walk back and forth to get the right spacing. Still do it, also in fights, but I’ve begun to force myself to dash around in training for spacing and it have improved my dash alot, also in fights. If you don’t use it, you’ll loose it, right?
