Like I said in another thread in the 3s forums, we’re doing an episode about SBO. The featured guests are…
misterbean - 9th place at evo 2k7 in cvs2, 3rd place at Cali Regionals 3s teams, multiple top 5 placer in socal 3s ranbats, denjin ranbat staff
let blood run - arguably top urien player in america, 3rd place at Cali Regionals 3s teams, multiple top 5 placer in socal 3s ranbats
Both players are booked to go to tokyo for SBO this year, so the subject of this podcast is SBO, its importance, and why/how to go as a player who does not anticipate qualifying. Any logistical questions about visiting Japan are fair game as well.
If you have any questions about possible US teams at qualifiers, or speculations, we’ll be happy to indulge those too.
hey 3s people, our next episode of the Denjin podcast is gonna have Pyrolee. I shouldn’t have to do any sort of introduction for him in this section, but if any of you have questions for him, please post in this thread or email denjinpodcast at gmail dot com
Who really surprised you skill wise at Denjin when you came out of retirement?
If 3s is announced for next years Tougeki who are you most interested in? Could Amir be a possible choice? or are you guys still not getting along? (Amir podcast, lol)
Do you feel like you’re getting any better? or do you feel skill cap’d in America?
Pherai, if you could go back, would you do anything differently in Japan?
From one die-hard 3S fan to another, does he see himself playing another game? …Where’s he been? =\ And I take it he still doesn’t like playing on consoles? How does he feel about 2DF and GGPO?
And to any of the guests: How do you guys feel about 3S now that it isn’t getting as much love as it did let’s say 2-3 years ago? Now in the 10th spot as most played arcade game in Japan, showing up less and less at tournaments nationwide… Though it pains me (been playing since official DC Import + DCBOOT), is it time to move on and let the beast rest or will it stand the test of time as one of the best games ever?
You know I love this game =( It’s just that the scene is dying  And that’s a damn shame too 'cause I really do believe the Americans finally caught up to the Japanese.
It’s hard for 3s to survive in the US for a few reasons. We don’t have enough players picking up the game, why? Well, it’s pretty discouraging picking up a game that takes at least a year or two to be decent/good at. You really have to take the beating and put the hours in. 3s isn’t as appealing to some who prefer better graphics, cooler animation, bigger scene, more publicity and noob friendly game play.
Lack of arcades. Arcade 3s is more then just better game-play, the atmosphere, the hype, the community… you don’t even have to know anybody and you can FEEL it. I’ve never felt this while putting a quarter in a SF4 cab. It’s just different. So, the next best option is GGPO, which honestly is like 50% 3s. Though GGPO is great for learning basics and practicing everything you want to on real people, there’s lag, spikes, frame drops, input delay, shit talking, ego bashing, it’s the internet lol.
I feel like as long as Denjin arcade stays open and the guys there keep supporting the game, the game will always live on because that’s what keeps people practicing, even if its on training mode or GGPO. It’s the fact that they know that there is still a scene, a community supporting the game and playing it to their fullest potential.
I feel like I just wrote without thinking so if this shit doesn’t make sense it’s cool. But, I love 3s and the game will NEVER DIE****
What has better animation than 3s? I think what you meant is that people are graphics whores. 2d is seen as outdated to the masses.
Also, yah, SFIV has a pretty lame atmosphere. I think it stems from the presentation of the game. With the horrible music/announcer, and etc.
I think what 3s needs to get more people is for it to be rereleased like Mvc2 was. That would at least give it some juice even though ps2 3s feels different.
to pyro: reactive vs. intuitive centered players. is this intrinsic? is it learned? do you think one is superior or that there are simply advantages and disadvantages to each?
what do you consider yourself? reactive or intuitive?
Ask Pyro to explain what the gap between Japanese scrubs and Japanese pro’s are. Doesn’t matter what character. And see if you can get something a little more in depth than just “matchup knowledge” or “execution”.
