Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

Me and my friend found a glitch today.

If you have two people in a game, one of them on a zipline, and the other one backstab the dude on the zipline, it freaks out and allows the person hanging to walk on air for an indefinite amount of time.

Really awesome in areas like Dragon Aerie.

Nito went down about an hour ago and i just took out the 4 kings. Put the last lord vessle in the fire, now to see whats behind yonder fog gate.

i just want those lautrec looking dudes armor :frowning: lol

Has anybody perfected parrying against Lord Gwyn?

I’ve seen videos of people doing it, but the window of opportunity seems short when I do it. I manage to parry his lunging attack, but his other moves seem to have different properties for parrying

http://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Armor it says only in NG+ do you get it

You just have to get used to the timing. Some attacks are faster than others, so look for the visual queues. A lot of people parry>riposte>Estus>parry. That way, you can get into a good rhythm of when to press the parry button. All you’ll have to worry about is avoiding the grab but, otherwise, he’ll be stuck in a loop. Watch his hand, not his sword, because that’s actually what you’re parrying.

Thanks.

And are there any shields or special weapons that are particularly easy to parry his attacks with? Or just stick with he black knight shield?

I realise you’ve killed Nito, but the Skeletons don’t reform if you kill them with a Divine weapon (same in the Catacombs).

I find blocking the first hit of his three-hit combo, then parrying the second one works well.

As for shields, if you’re gonna go parry-happy then the Heater and Traget Shields, as well as the Buckler, have an extra couple of frames on the parry window.

The Black Knight Shield has great fire resistance, though. On my SL1 run I made a Fire Heater Shield (+5 - very cheap to do) and used that…

Nice! Guess I will be playing a little tonight

So today so far I as you guys have seen I downed Nito and The 4 Kings. For the 4 kings i threw on Havels armor and tanked the shit out of em. Was awesome lol. Worked really well, i was pleased. I ventured into the Kiln a couple times but the Black Knight on the bridged killed each time and I kind of have a feeling this is the last area of the game so I decided to go back and do some other stuff first. I tried to find Big Hat Logan in the Dukes Library but he seems to be gone, dunno where he is. I got the Magic Ember from Seaths room, which reminded me about the Divine Ember i picked up in the Catacombs. If I hold onto these instead of handing them to the black smiths do they carry over in NG+? Probably not but thought i would ask anyway. Maybe they stay with the Black Smiths if you have them over into NG+ I dunno. Also probably not. I went ahead and killed the Fire Keeper in Anor Londo (I don’t remember her name) and used her soul to power up my Estus. What else should I look into doing before heading deeper into the Kiln? Is that actually the end game area or am i just jumping the gun on thinking that?

After you free Logan from Sen’s Fortress he’ll venture to the Duke’s Archives on his own from the Firelink Shrine after you place the Lord Vessel. You need to locate the tower key, I believe that’s what it’s called to free him a second time in the Duke’s Archives. He then ends up in the area right before the staircase going down to the garden area leading to the Crystal Cave. Once you purchase all his spells and kill Seath speak to him again and then come back. He’ll be gone again and finally you’ll find him in the room that Seath killed you in before locking you up at the start of that area.

Embers don’t carry over to NG+, neither do keys.

Hit up the Painted World via in Anor Londo using the Peculiar Doll, and also fight Dark Sun Gwyndolin at the very bottom of the elevator stairs in Anor Londo.

There’s also the DLC areas if you picked that up.

So Watcher’s Greatsword’s magic damage int scaling starts at B, but goes to S if you infuse it with lightning. It will also have the lightning damage property which scales at B. Same moveset as Flamberge without the bleed and it also uses less stamina on swings giving you 1 extra swing with each attack before reaching negative stamina.

L2 applies magic weapon onto the sword at the cost of 10 durability. Bracing Knuckle Ring +2 reduces the costs of these special abilities by half.

Ah thanks Skelletroll. I’ve actually already done the Painted world, but I do need to do Gwyndolin still. I know there’s a way to fight him without killing Gwenever but it’s probably just easier to kill and then go face him then do the other thing huh? I also never found the area where the Dragon Covenant is. I saw a part of it when going at Nito, but never found the area itself. Reminds me i should explore that hollow tree i found i Blight Town some more, I died in there as it was hard to get around without falling. I meant to go back later but completely forgot and only just remembered.

I been debating picking up the DLC. Is it worth it?

enemy variety is also weaker. 95%+ of enemies by encounter are soldier types with just variations on their attack timings/damage/defense.
zone variety is also weaker. even taking out the interconnectedness that ds1 had, compare the zone variety and layout between parallels

undead burg v forest of giants
blight town v earthen spire
catacombs v whatever the catacombs are in ds2
tomb of giants v gutter
anor londo v dranglec castle

I can’t comment on the ministories for the npcs since I haven’t finished yet, but the ones in ds1 were pretty fucking strong. The overall story though… I STILL don’t know whats up plot-wise. DS1 cleared shit up with the legend at the beginning which made sense, but DS2 is literally like “you are here for some reason, probably, go get the four souls.”

Use the Dark Seance Ring while standing in front of the statue to open up the Gwyndolin area. The ring is in the Catacombs in a coffin near a giant skeleton.

Dragon Covenant is through the Great Hollow. Go to Blight Town and follow the giant tree trunk in the swamp all the way up. You need to hit two hidden doors once you get to the top to reach it. The Great Hollow leads to Ash Lake where that covenant is.

DLC is worth it, lots of lore, 4 bosses, free slabs, cool areas with some nice variety, and an easy area to farm humanity.

Artorias DLC is godlike with possibly 2 of the best bosses in the game

you can get 6-15 hours out of it, its fun.

The DLC is definitely worth playing. Not my favourite areas of the game, to be honest, but some great bosses in there.

If you’re not using the internet, also, good luck finding it!

Nice, then I’ll probably pick up the DLC tonight.

Thanks Skele will check those locations out. Probably wrap this play through up tonight and start a NG+. Dope, I can pick up DSII next month now since i managed one rotation in DS1.

Yea, finding out how to access the DLC without looking it up is damn near impossible if you’re not Sherlocke Holmes. Even then, you would have a hard ass time.

Just a hint… Don’t finish the game until you get the DLC and play through it. You’ll understand why.

Well I know how to light the torch now…after 40 hours of play. I knew something was up with that boss area, but didn’t know how to fix the problem.
