i try to operate at at like 25% lol not being able to dodge is frustrating as hell unless you go pure tank build heh :S
Killed the Hellkite Dragon, crushed Sif the Wolf, got the Crest of Atorias and killed all of the NPCs and levelled up a bit. Now level 50. Time for Blighttown…
how to make blight town real easy:
method 1: master key
firelink shrine > new londo ruins > open door w/ master key > valley of drakes, go straight across the little wood plank to a cave > now youre at the water wheel in blight town which is close to both the bonfire and the boss. congrats you just saved yourself from having to do the (second) shittiest area in the game.
method 2: no master key
undead parish > go down to blacksmith area > darkroot basin (forest?) take the first right if you see a shiny door youve gone too far > go down till you find a cave, there is a bonfire inside > valley of drakes > hug right wall > end up in same wood plank/cave part as method 1.
i suggest doing 1 of the above even if youre already at the bottom of the depths ready to go.
Left wall
Thanks guys. Blighttown is bullshit.
If you’re in blighttown, might as well get the rusted iron ring from going back to the asylum. You can go back by going to the crows nest. You can get there by jumping off the elevator that takes you to the parish while it is going up, then jumping on top of a wall and go up the stairs. You also need to pick up the asylum key which is easy to see within firelink. The ring really helps because you can run normal in the water then.
Blighttown tip #24123
When you get to the bonfire by the dragon scale, turn to human. The Maneater Mildred will invade you in that area. Defeating her lets you summon her before the Quelaag fight.
I ended up getting the Plat last night, it took me less than an hour to farm a Titanite Pole or whatever. The damn weapon wasn’t the last weapon I needed, so I glanced at a weapon’s checklist, saw “Tin Darkmoon Catalyst” that I didn’t have, ran to Anor Londo, got it made, and that was it. Game took me a 100 some-odd hours to Plat, just like Demon’s Souls did.
I miss NG+ at Kiln of the First Flame. If any of you guys are on your NG+ playthrough, definitely hang out at the last area for a while. You can invade constantly if you’re in the Darkmoon or Chaos covenant’s plus you’re getting invaded in-between. PvP is a lot of fun, and my pure melee build destroyed the majority of players I played against. I never lost to any spellcaster, because I could roll to evade all of their spells, and once I was in there, I could usually kill them with a full stamina-bar of melee swings. I might finish the rest of my NG++ playthrough just to see if there’s any PvP at Kiln again, though I think at this point I’m too high level.
Waaaay too many glitchers in pvp. Invincible players, someone instantly killing me while casting TWOP, unlimited use of the force move from the dragon torso… Annoying.
Well I beat Blight Town…and I used the shitty way since I was already half way through that path before I read Stabby’s post. I didn’t get probably 50% of the items in there though including the whip and I don’t know if I want to go back or not. At level 38 should I still be using the Drake Sword? Sen’s Fortress seems really tough to me and I can’t help but feel like I should level up some or get better gear. So far I’ve cleared through blight town via depths. I haven’t done much in Valley of Drakes/Catacombs/etc.
You can find a spear in sen’s fortress that’ll carry you for a while, or to the end of the game if you want to upgrade. The dudes in Sen have high normal defense and defense against slash, so your damage is going to be shit against them.
Check out the other weapons that you are carrying, the stat bonuses might be pushing you over the drake with whatever your current build is-- and even if the raw damage isn’t higher, they might make up for it with lower stamina requirements or faster swing speeds. And upgrading a weapon that you like to +10 is highly recommended, since to make most of the upper-tier weapons (unless you have an int/faith build) are going to require it, and those would take a +5 weapon anyway.
Haha I’m just boosting Vit/End and putting points some what evenly into Str/Dex. Is this a bad call?
End is probably the best stat to raise, but don’t put it above 40 because that is when the stamina bonus caps.
Currently Lighting (and probably Fire) weapon upgrade paths are broken. They do more damage, in less resisted damage types than any of the other weapons and have no minimum requirement beside having access to them (which doesn’t take long) to get the maximum potential from them. The “downside” is that they don’t have stat scaling, but stat scaling is currently garbage.
With STR and DEX the damage bonuses on them stop completely once they hit 40 (each), and then start working again apparently in the 70s. Weapons that get the scaling are also (generally) normal damage type, which as you see by the snake enemies, are commonly resisted.
Thing is, From admitted that this was an issue and they’ll issue a patch. I don’t know if they’ll buff the STR/DEX or just nerf Lightning/Fire, but something is going to change at some point since I also don’t think they announced a date for the patch.
My recommendation is to focus on END for now, and find a normal (longsword, dagger, scimitar, spear etc) weapon type that you like and take that to +10(using the titanite tree), then convert it to lightning when you get the chance. The base damage on the weapon should be higher than the drake for you now.
The next blacksmith you meet will let you use the soul you got from the blighttown boss to make a really good sword that carried me through to the endgame (at +5).
TLDR:
Get your END to 40.
Take a basic weapon you like to +10 asap.
Stabby, you’re extremely helpful. I’ll do that, I’ll use a normal I like. I assume there’s nothing wrong with Axe? I guess you’re talking about Queelag’s sword also? I’ve heard about that thing quite a bit.
The whip sucks. So does most of the armor you find in Blighttown. Don’t worry about those.
But if you didn’t grab the Fire Keeper’s Soul while you were in Blighttown… I’d suggest going back and getting it (and killing the other Fire Keeper in Queelag’s if you don’t plan on being in the Chaos Servant covenant). Be sure to spend all your souls because you will likely suicide for it and abandon your bloodstain since there are a bunch of toxin dart shooters guarding it.
The Drake Sword will carry you all the way to Sen’s Fortress to where you get the Lightning Spear, then you get to start using that instead. The snake guards at Sen’s are resistant to normal weapons, but all of their attacks cause them to flinch when blocked (except the headbite, which is unsafe enough that you can run around and backstab while they recover). Throw on your Grass Crest Shield, block a hit, swing (you’ll get boosted damage on that hit since it’s a counter hit), run away to regain stamina, repeat.
Fuck you!
The whip… IS AWESOME!!
Drake Sword > Lightning Spear > Furysword > Lightning Uchigatana for me. And definitely don’t go past 40 on Endurance but that’s one of the first stats you want to reach.
got my pyro up to + 8 finally does decent damage again lol, i think im going to backtrack up Firelink shrine so i can try and hit up the giant to get my furysword.
also what’s the easiest way to get a divine weapon so i can clear out the catacombs heh…
how do you get the “strong” pyromancy flame? i have my normal one upgraded to 15, but i never got an option to ascend?
also i dont remember from my first play through but do you need some special ember to have blacksmiths create weapons out of boss souls? i have the required stuff but no option to actually make it.
im outi
Roberth
^ There’s a special NPC that spawns at the bottom of Blighttown only if you have your Pyromancy flame +10 and up. She should be able to ascend your Pyromancy flame. I didn’t know about her until my final playthrough, but you can buy all of her spells then kill her for a unique spell that she drops as an item. That or, you can do her a “favor” for that spell but killing her is way easier and more fun.
The Blacksmith is Anor Londo is the one that makes weapons out of boss souls, no ember’s required. Sad thing is, the majority of boss weapons fucking suck, especially in comparison to the one’s in Demon’s Souls. Random +10 or +15 weapons will outdamage the majority of unique weapons made from bosses souls. You only need embers to get certain weapons to maximum fire, chaos, divine upgrade paths.
