Demon Bride: New 2D fighting game by Examu?

thanks for the ost man

was the game really that unpopular?
i always felt that it was more like examu didnt care enough for the game, announcing and releasing ah3 near to this game and not promoting it on sbo

It was pretty popular for, like, 2 weeks until someone found a nasty “WTF” combo of 80% damage with, like, 5 hits with a character, can’t remember it now but i’m pretty sure that this was commented in this thread like a year ago (can’t lurk now, i’m at work), them Examu says “fuck it, let’s try with AH3”.

No, that’s not the case at all. 80% damage combos we’re found day one, and people still played it when it came out.
The AH3 hype did kill Daemon Bride, and Examu was the murderer. All Examu had to say about the Daemon Bride project was “it didn’t turn out as good as we thought it did” when the game was really fuckin’ will done!

If the game had a 1.1 patch, shit would be perfect, because it was damn balanced for a first version of any game I’ve played.
And those 80%+ damage combos, you need to actually understand the game to know why combos did so much damage. If you get hit in Daemon Bride, YOU DESERVE TO DIE!! Yea, same can be said about any fighting game, but if it’s a fighting game we’re all characters have massive zoning potential and have the ability to keep anyone out for half the match, you best make sure your combo will kill them once you hit them!

In fact, most of the in-game functions that are found in Daemon Bride we’re actually carried over to AH3.

I still think the main things that killed it were:

  1. Bad/awkward graphics/animations.
  2. New IP. Can’t ride on recognisable characters.
  3. Hard to get into. The way the game works is difficult to understand and it throws a lot of traditional fighting game concepts out the window. Let alone getting someone new to FGs into it considering how punishing it is to play without understanding it.

they should just port a 1.1 update and let us jp 360 owners enjoy the mess

and why only on 360

I think the new IP part was the biggest problem. I could imagine the grazing mechanic serving as a feature to make the game unique compared to the competition, but maybe Examu doesn’t have the star-power ARCSYS has to push a flawed first iteration (BBCT) to make enough profit to justify a sequel.

i dont know
imo was more like the lack of care that examu had about the game, if they promoted the game on the sbo perhaps the story would have been diferent

It being at SBO would of helped it A LOT. Its shame it kinda flew under the radar like it did. I really hope Examu does more with it. this is a game I think a lot of people would like. its like BB with cooler characters and more projectiles. lol

well basically the sbo determinates (to some degree) the games that get played on arcades, just see how the games that have a spot always end being the more played

SURPRISE MOTHERFUCKERS!!

Daemon Bride is back with “Daemon Bride: Additional Gain”, is exactly the same game but rebalanced and with two new characters, for NESiCAxLive

this shit made my day ONLY because it means that at least they are giving DB some more love
(im still praying for a console release)

btw, im not sure if i would call it the same game if it gets some rebalance plus 2 new chars :looney:

Ok, let’s say that this in an upgrade.

Now if someone at Examu wakes up Shok and do the same damn thing with Monster…

lol, we’ll see how they treat Noah. If he’s still garbage, im going back to Nina.

Edit the thread title? Or make a new thread? Making a new thread would be better IMO.

but nina is awesome, dunno why you chaged her for noah :stuck_out_tongue:
btw was noah that terrible?

Awesome news! Hopefully this means the game will become more popular in Japan. Daemon Bride is a very fun game!!

Seriously, the game was close to being REALLY good.
I remember all of us playing it, going on saying “if it just had a small upgrade, like a 1.5, it would be perfect”.
Game is actually well balanced for a first version, and the flaws didn’t seem so obvious until like 2 months after release and what not. Here’s hope that the next one will be the version we are looking for.

As someone who has actually played it, and stopped playing it for a reason, can you please inform us about the good and the bad in an organized fashion?

Eh? Wow, didn’t know other arcades had the game, that’s actually really neat to hear!

But erm… well there was a lot of technical issues with the game.
Well, certain functions in the game didn’t work properly due to… well… I’m not too sure why didn’t work. Best example would be the issue with Alpha Counters.
When using one, there’s actually a 30% chance (just throwing numbers out there) that the Counter would bug.
How? Well, when you do an Alpha Counter, your assists/spirit will appear and hit the opponent, knocking them full screen. Sometimes your spirit will come out and… DO NOTHING. Or sometimes when your spirit comes out, it would just float there, only to attack your opponent about 10 seconds later.

Other things among character designs.
Example, the 2 main characters SOUNDED balance on paper, but in action it was obvious they dominated over half the cast. The low tiers had good tools, but they were just too slow for the pace of the game on how it turned out at higher level of play.

Then there were characters who were good, but had AWFUL match ups. Your looking at characters who had 6-4 and 5-5 all across the board, and all of a sudden one 8-2 in there.

Most things are just obvious after about 2 months of playing.
As stated, seem normal at first, but as we continued to play the flaws became more and more obvious.
However, for a first version of this type of game, it’s damn good.
