There was free swag for random winners at Capcom’s booth (don’t know about Bandai-Namco), though, so you can’t blame people for wanting to win it. Naturally you should be complaining to the people running the booth if you feel that they should reserve a few setups for just bs-ing around as I doubt that they read this particular forum for advice on that kind of thing.
