it’s just a lot of busy work. reverse engineer knockdown times, then find things that will add up to X frames to time the safejump.

I know offhand you have to wing it off of cr.mk mostly cause it only knocks down for 50 frames.

cr.lp is 11 total frames, so cr.mk, whiff cr.lp, j.whatever works against reversals that are 6 frames and slower or Sagat/Cammy cause they get up a frame slow.

f.throw is awkward because it knocks down for a super long time, and has bad safejump spacing. I think it knocks down for 66 or 67 frames though. whiff far mk, crossup j.mk works against certain stuff.

On a lighter note, apparently my girlfriend thinks DJ is the sexiest character in the roster.

I just came up with some good tricks and stuff using LK sobat to bait throws and techs, and it hits teleports. It might be useless in AE though…

So this means that they’re ground throwable right? At least they’re not air throwable… does LK sobat still have low invincibility?

ALL dread kicks should have low invincibility on first kick.

Granted it’d be a little harder to have consistency, but can’t you just knee shot to safe jump faster reversals? So cr. mk, whiff cr. lp, knee shot?

the problem with that is that you will mess up a lot. Are you telling me you can kneeshot on Deejay’s perfect airborne frames every single time? If you go too early you’ll whiff and if you go later you might as well have just waited 8 frames or whatever and done j.hk and got more damage.

The point of setups is so that it takes user error out of the equation. You might not jab on the first frame every time, but if your opponent sees you jab and then their reversal gets blocked they will be much more likely to not attempt a reversal.

Edit: I’m not saying you shouldn’t mix it in ever, but I’d rather just crossup/fake crossup against faster reversals.

With AE’s easier knee shot inputs, I’d imagine it wouldn’t be that bad to knee shot safe jump off of cr. mk. Your setup works on 6 frames or slower reversals right? I assume the change in jump arc from knee shot makes it so that it’s more than 3 frames faster than a normal jump in (that’s just an assumption though). Whatever extra frames there are is the amount of leniency in doing the setup.

kneeshot is very variable in how long it takes, but the window you get to do it and get any sort of extra advantage over my cr.mk setup is only 2 frames. If you don’t knee shot on one of those 2 frames you will either whiff, or you’ll just be where you started at with reduced damage.

If you were to do cr.mk, whiff cr.jab, kneeshot as a safejump against a 4 frame reversal it would be fairly hard because you would have to jab on the first possible frame after you recover from cr.mk, and secondly you would have a 1 frame window to input your kneeshot and actually have it be a safejump.

Anyways it would be more useful not to safejump reversals that are quicker, but to give you a bigger window to not mess up against slower reversals.

Against Viper’s thunderknuckle for instance my safejump window is now not only frames 6 and 7 of her reversal, but I also have frames 4 and 5 to work with using kneeshot so if I messed up my jab and didn’t get in one of the first two frames after cr.mk recovery or whatever I still have a chance to hit it if my kneeshots are on point, and I don’t really lose out on anything but damage.

against faster reversals I’d rather just attempt to time the jump with a stronger normal because having to worry about 2 factors is dumb.

Could anyone give me the data on exactly how many frames it would take for an instant knee shot. Like how many frames from standing, how many frames it takes to get off the ground, do the knee shot and add on the landing frames.

So how many frames when standing after I press the up-forward on my stick to the exact moment I’m on the floor and able to start a stand HP for example.

Thanks for anyone who knows this. I’m trying to work out some things with instant knee shot setups.

Xbox Live will make you feel way more suckier than you really are at defense. Stuffed anti-airs, dropped links, botched throw techs, not being able to block high lows. Online really is THAT bad.

Yes I think they are ground throwable now. Lk has more I frames than before. I think its 12 now idk have to check the AE thread but I’m lazy and on my droid. Mk sobat’s I frames are only good for getting you counterhit
