Just use Sobat Festival, then. And who knows, if you can juggle off EX MGU as I believe was the case in an early build (possibly in the corner?) it won’t be hard since EX MGU gives you time to start charging DB. And if you just practice, than you can use it off a crumple.

Continuing to stress out about these things right now isn’t going to get us anywhere. Hopefully if that tournament on the 11th happens, we’ll have some more information to work with and then we can discuss things further.

^ Is that the tournament in Japan? The one where everyone was playing the old characters that they’re known for? Maybe I missed something in the announcement, but having a big public tournament where none of the new characters are going to be used used sounds kinda boring.

I heard there will be a tournament on the 11th in the US where the new characters will be used extensively, possibly including hakan but I am NOT SURE ABOUT THAT AT ALL.
I agree with you on Honda, and, if he has a good anti air normal, Boxer and Dictator will be up there, too. Slow projectiles really give these guys headaches.
I don’t think Chun will be so bad. If anything, when you hit her, it’ll still be like punching a styrofoam wall. I think his worse match will end up being Ryu. I’d say Akuma, but EX Machine Gun Upper will tear up his air fireball approaches, so I don’t think he’ll give him as much trouble as he does others.

Finally, somebody who responded haha I think the Chun match up will depend on Dee Jay’s AA game. If it’s strong, then it’ll be fine. If not… oh boy. Dee Jay vs the Shotos has always been about even, so hopefully nothing messes that up.
Fuerte might be a pain.
If short Up Kicks has decent invincibility, I think DeeJay will be alright against Fuerte. Hopefully he’ll have a decent jump back normal to keep him from having to deal with the guessing game too much. I don’t see the problem with Chun, unless she gets a life lead and turtles (Like my problem with her in ST).
I only think he’ll have trouble against Ryu, since Ryu can match his fireballs and has that godly jumping RH. If DeeJay doesn’t have a charge or his old school standing strong, I don’t think he’ll be able to adequately keep Ryu from jumping his shit…

Oh, nice! I hope that comes to pass, and that the people playing are decent (and hopefully have had time to practice with the characters they’re playing).

Rufus, Dee Jay, Fuerte, Honda
ST and SF4
Well actually DJ vs Ryu in SF2 it’ s 5 - 5, so i might say that there is no bad matchup. Let’s see how Capcom “evolved” DJ in SSF4.
Anwsering to C3, i think that the worst matches would be Sagat, Akuma ( if he is good ), and T.Hawk, maybe also Claw if the player is good, and of course if capcom will improve him.
But anyway DJ is really like Ryu in SF2 ( really balanced ) so hopefully also in SSF4 he will be well balanced
EDIT: against Ryu i saw that Ex sobat kicks has a REALLY good range and goes through fireballs, so it’s all good.
Now that you mention it, I think characters with Dive Kicks are going to be hell for DeeJay… That’s not going to be fun… Especially Juri’s fast ass Dive Kick!
Yeah… it all depends how DJ’s upkicks are in SSF4… If they are bad, well we will have many difficulties eheh.
Really looking forward to playintg as deejay

We always hope… but it rarely happens haha can’t help but wish anyway.
Rufus -Ryu is in ryu’s favour, but it’s not terrible. Dee Jay - Ryu has always been 5 -5 and fuerte - ryu is 5 -5 according to the japanese because of the fuerte vortex. Honda - Ryu is at worst 6 - 4. You’re exaggerating a bit much.
Yea, I agree with pretty much everything u said. Dee Jay would have to have some blaringly bad mishap to not be able to stand up to shotos.
I bet you anything Dee Jay’s up kicks will only trade at best.
For sure. I don’t care what anybody else says: as good as Dee Jay’s AA normals are, he NEEDS those up kicks. He plain and simply wouldn’t be as strong without them.
Just from this video http://http://www.youtube.com/watch#!videos=59HGZrGqs4A&v=7NhwLg4CT4w you can see his up kicks trade with Chun’s jump ins at several points, even the EX version only managed a trade. That could just be circumstantial, or due to the angle of her jump ins, but overall, I’m not expecting the up kicks to be all that good, and definately not up to the standard of his ST kicks. They are looking like good anti-crossup options though, which is something I guess.
I’m still just anxious to see how his normals are going to be. You can see the god hand in that video beating out an attack, but its hard to tell just how good it will be. He needs his s.strong AA, especially if his kicks aren’t strong AA’s themselves.
All I’m really wanting from DJ is
- Good AA normals
- At least one good poke
- A reliable combo into ultra
If I can get those things, I think I’ll be happy. Playing him either way though, so I guess Capcoms got me sold already.

That link isn’t working for me. If that’s the match that’s on the new african stage then i’ll go watch it again. I would personally want at least two pokes though.

Fair enough, Oh and by the way Rufus Ryu is pretty bad. Lp Shoryu literally eats everything. But I do exaggerate a bit.
Also one of the main problems I have with Chun in HDR is her very high jump angle. It makes Up kicks very hard to land on her which is what I see will be the problem with dive kicks. The angle is going to be too awkward to hit Up Kicks.

i just hate how the new 3s characters get so many EZ-mode ways to combo into ultra, and deejay gets his removed because its ‘broken’. how the hell is that fair? :annoy:
