Dedicated Thread: What we want in "ONLINE" Third Strike

Yamazaki is an amazing player, he took who was considered the 2nd worst character in the game and made him competitive, wouldn’t surprise me if he was partly to blame for Twelve going up a peg on the tier lists.

Unfortunately, nobody has done the same for Sean, the best Sean players ive seen is Bodler (who only plays online via an emulator). No offense to him, he’s a great player, but he’s hardly fought the type of competition Yamazaki has.

I think Kuroda has a very strong Sean. Check out some of his videos on youtube using Sean.

Do you honestly think Id play Stungun Headbutt Alex against a real person ?, a real person would AA my ass on reaction, but it works just fine against the CPU even on the hardest setting and that was my goal.

The CPU is nothing like a real player, If Im fighting CPU Genei-Jin Yun he’s not gonna do chain combo into it and then juggle my ass Pyrolee style in the corner for half my life, nor will a CPU Chun do a super jump cancel with a follow up after connecting an SA2.

The CPU has set patterns, Laser Gazelle & GaijinBlaze said so to, I just posted those videos to prove how dumb the CPU can be and how it tries to compensate.

I don’t play like this in SSF4 and rest assured when the online edition of 3s gets released, I wont be playing like that either.

Besides being able to play 3s on a non-crt tv, I want the training mode completely revamped, in these ways:

Parry Training: along with a record function, there should be a programmable mode where you can chose up to say 6 moves in a row you want the computer to do, or select from a list of known BnB combos. The game is 11 years old and the movelists aren’t long, all of these combos are known. It should act like VF command training where the computer sets up the situation you want and the enemy does your selected combo, and then it resets back to neutral over and over until you change something.

Command Training: a combination of virtua fighter command training and sf4 trials where you can go through a characters entire movelist including all links, cancels, combos, karas and super cancels. It should have a guide on the screen similaqr to sf4 trials which let’s you know when you’ve input the command correctly, and similarly show your inputs on the screen. Hitboxes, and frame data should be togglable.

Free Training: no real changes except for hitbox, frame data and input display options.

Id like a perfect arcade port of the game just like the ps2 version or better but not rebalancing or fixing something just because some noobs cant beat certain characters or footages of the game.
And what id like is Tournament Mode just like SSF4 and Endless Battle, Replay stuff, Lobby, Chat and Spectator. Some new Characters wold be greate so this way this could be considered to Arcade version.
In conclusion, dont touch the engine of the game and give us an improved Online just like MvC2, STHDR and SSF4 with some new features and some new Characters to be added to Arcade Version in a future so this way the game will still alive in the Arcades.

  • GGPO netcode (no excuses, this should be a PRIORITY)
  • HD-redrawn HUD
  • Optional alternative music recorded by the same rap artist who did the original tracks.
  • Enhanced sound effects that utilize a 5.1 Dolby Digital setup.
  • Replay recording
  • Replay playback with different input display modes like VF (frame input numbers, joystick graphic)
  • Endless Battle
  • Ranked Matches by character like Tekken and VF, with ranks from G to MSF. (Not the grindable style like SSF4 where it isn’t possible to be demoted).
  • Win streaks can be carried over between endless battle lobbies/ranked matches, for that extra intimidation/motivation factor.
  • Rage quitting punishments

I can, Alex is fine, I mained him for YEARS, and odds are, I’ll play him again when this game drops on XBL.

Sure Alex has some bad matchups, but so does every char, its a reality of fighting games.

I cannot speak for the other chars you mentioned as I have very little experience with them, but Alex hits like a goddamn truck, and has a sick wake up game.

In short, learn to parry, he has insane command throws, parry to throw HURTS real bad.

If Capcom REALLY needed the urge to put in some newbie/beginner system enhancements, the most I would say is add an ‘easy mode’ option like in the alpha series, where it gives them auto block (maybe random parry lol), restricted super meter, unable to progress beyond Rank D in ranked matches, and unable to join certain endless battle lobbies with easy mode turned off. This would at least give some incentive for new players and grinding lovers to level up properly.

I like the cut of your jib son!

Sean P is pretty good.

Last I hear though, he switched to Ken.

Oh man if they put in shortcuts and easy reversal windows and no ‘normal/old school mode’ this game certainly wont be bought by me.

you are not thinking about the environment that the game will be played in.
its online edition 3s.

this doesnt mean brilliant players who like a character and dedicate themselves to it.
what it means is tones of people who want to win fast and easy, however they can.

i’m guessing for a long time after release it will be mostly chun, chun, chun, chun, chun, chun, chun, chun, chun, ken, chun, chun, chun, chun, ken, ken, chun, chun, chun…

not fun or exciting.

That’s not just online, that’s everywhere. But either way I don’t see how that really goes against my point about not wanting to buff the shit characters.

With all this talk about having character-specific rankings, that could be one way to incentivise people not to use the higher-ranked characters.

Anyway, it doesn’t really make a difference if the crap characters get buffed and the current top characters get nerfed - those people you’re talking about will still gravitate towards the new high/top-tiers.

But this is going to happen no matter what. Ken wasn’t even considered top tier in VanillaSF4, but kids still flocked to the guy. At least you’ll learn the match-up… I guess. Maybe a lot of in-depth guides for every character in the game will soften this or even a kind of indoctrination video explaining that the tiers are suggestions, not truths. At the very least, the intelligent newbies won’t be discouraged and feel like they need to choose Chun if they know what exactly is possible with Remy or Oro or whoever. Plan B is putting out an “official” tier list that’s actually completely scrambled.

I think it would be kinda nice to be able to tech wake ups (or would that be knockdowns?). Whenever I’m putzing around in 3S I always find myself trying to tap LK+MK on knockdown like I’m playing SF4 or A3 or something…

The ps2 version != the arcade version.

Leave the game alone balance wise
Improved training
IMPROVED BUTTON CONFIG <---- please for the love of all that is holy.
GGPO netcode

+everything else that vince-uk said.

The PS2 version is not the same as the arcade version.

The PS2 version is not arcade perfect.

That’s exactly what he wrote.

My bad. lol.

…carry on.

Why do people keep asking for GGPO netcode, it runs CPS3 games like shit. :wtf:
