Random character on character select would be nice.
I like this idea the best so far.
Everything mentioned obviously such as arcade perfect, good netcode, and a great training mode. I just want a AE type mode you can pick from. It wouldn’t be ever used seriously just like AE SF2 and would just be for fun. I think it would add a lot and be a total blast. 2I Sean was really fun to play.
I’m leaning towards a Cvs2 style training mode. Very comprehensive with its recording ap, reversal ap, etc.
Maybe online tournament mode. ie: random tourneys that would be thrown officially by xbl or ps network, you register and can spec until your match comes up.
He was top tier in 2i along with Ibuki, and although Ibuki got hit pretty hard with the nerf stick, Sean wound up about as dangerous as the car from the bonus stage :looney:
Whatever about the rest of the cast, whats the point in having a character who’s so poor he’s not considered competitive and has been at the bottom of every Tier list for the last 10 years ?, even if the rest of the cast are left as is something needs to be done about Sean.
ffs don’t “remix” the gameplay at all.
danisen or some kind of ranking mode would be cool.
Be very afraid my 3s brothers. As a diehard ST player I saw what they did to the ST scene with that abortion of a game HDR and they will do it to you too. Just pray that Srilin doesn’t get his dirty hands on this tone too.
All you can hope for is to have the same game with some slight tweaks as a re-balance. Like make chun build super slower and give her only one stock and have yun’s bar shinsho long and if he gets hit the geni is stopped.
I would love to play 3s again and I really hope they just add some of the cool features like they have in ssf4.
Oh well they will fuck it up and the real 3s players will boycot it just like they did with the console versions at evo.
Have fun and welcome to my HDR hell.
OH and i’m betting money right now they will base it off the DC port of 3s.
Pretty sure Sirlin doesnt work for Backbone or Capcom anymore, didnt he leave just before Evo last year ?.
Pretty much exactly what I was proposing, an adjustment like that wouldn’t effect the main game engine and thus wouldn’t have a knock on effect on the rest of the cast, Sean also needs SOMETHING to make him competitive (give him back his old 2i DP for starters).
I know Im preaching to the choir here but as a ST player, you know Cammy was considered the worst character in that game, but because the game was so matchup dependent she could still compete. Claw in vanilla SF4 is another example, Sean on the other hand is screwed against everyone in 3s, Capcom never intended him to be a Dan like Joke character but thats how people see him now purely based on how poor he is in 3s.
-Arcade perfect port, please. please. please. please. please.
-DON’T try to balance the game, please, please, please, please. Please focus the budget and man hours elsewhere.
-DON’T bother redrawing the sprites. The still look wonderful and lively after a decade. Please focus the budget and man hours elsewhere.
-HD/Widescreen compatibility, I would prefer this done with horizontal letterboxes on the sides. I would prefer if the size of the stages stayed the same.
-Remastered HD sound, but not a new remixed soundtrack. The original music throughout the game is dare I say iconic. Please focus the budget and man hours elsewhere.
-Training Mode: I would ask for a revamped training mode based of the PS2 training mode. Good additions would be an Input Display option. An option to show hit boxes. The option to turn OFF stun. An option to show real time frame data. Please include an improved record function, the PS2 record function in Normal and Parry Training is not robust enough. 3S can be a very complex game and I would like to be able to set up complex in-game situations better and more easily. To that end it would also be nice to have a macro tool set that would allow the player to quickly set up certain situations without having to go in record them himself(for example I want to learn to parry an unblockable situation from Urien, just allow me to program that in, instead of spending a ton of time trying to execute it or I want the dummy to reversal on wake up or block stun every time, let me set that up). Allow the player to save recorded training mode situations that he or she has programmed in or recorded so that he or she can quickly come back to them later
-A dedicated 3S net-code. Timing can be everything in 3S, without a well developed net-code certain mechanics such as red parry will not be fully realized in online play. One of the joys of 3S is the depth of the game. Seeing new situations and learning how to respond to those situations, as a player knowing that one always has the opportunity to not only survive complex situations but to turn them on the opponent is one of the great intrinsic rewards 3S has to offer. Honestly I would advise bringing in someone from the FPS genre to advise this part of the project. North American FPS players and developers probably have the most experience with how to deal with lag properly.
-Button mapping via player input, such as offered in HDR, GGXXAC, and a few other games. Its the quickest and most streamlined button mapping system.
-Different Online Options, different online modes(endless battle, dansien ranking battle mode, NA and Japanese style tournament mode), 4-6 player lobbies, spectating, match record and save functions, voice chat
-Offline and Online Stat tracking through a profile. I think fighting games really lack this. Something as simple as total win/losses/draws. Character by character breakdown.
If the team working on 3S Online Edition were able to focus their budget and time on a delivering a arcade perfect port with a more robust training mode and a dedicated net code I will gladly pay my money for another copy of Street Fighter 3: Third Strike.
An option to show hit-boxes in training mode… cant believe that slipped my mind.

… but offline it’s rarely an option to even TRY and dash grab.

for a little while, I actually believed you were a 3s player. This tells me otherwise.

Just a few suggestions mainly for menu options, the game is close to immaculate and requires very little change.
Glossary of 3s terminology for newcomers. There is alot of stuff like Charge Partitions and unblockable mechanics that are unique to 3s. It would certainly help newcomers if they had some sort of basic introduction to these concepts.
The only other request I have is to have Q’s theme play if 2p picks Q. That theme is too good and is woefully underused.
metric’s list is just about the same as mine.
3S has never had a perfect arcade port, might as well use this chance to rectify that.
updated list, really can’t think of anymore, lol.
Better yet, have the stages be selectable. I never liked that the music and stage was determined by who the challenger is.
what’s remastered hd sound
i obviously stand behind arcade port accuracy, things that help new people (trial mode, glossary, etc.) and basically any improvement to training mode but i also have some fanboy suggestions as long as we’re already going overboard:
-some method of improving AI to make it more playable. ghost AI profiles based on online players (anonymously), some decent combos (hell, i’ll program it myself if the game will let me), fewer psychic moves, just anything. as someone who has juggled arcade w/ kaillera/ggpo/2df/supercade, i know how hard it can be to get my arcade timing back. this would complement training mode for people who still play offline
-in versus mode, the stage selection should be like blazblue where the choice box is defaulted to correspond to one of the characters chosen, so that the correct stage is used like the arcade (sorry i just hate playing in console tourneys where the stages are random)
Good ideas, especially the AI improvements. It’s always sucked to just want to play arcade mode for a bit and then as soon as you go back to an online match, you’ve realized that you’ve relearned a lot of bad habits and the good habits you’ve been trying to develop are back to square one. It’d be nice for off-liners, too, but how implementable is this, exactly?
Oh, and default choice should be Q!
A Tutorial Guide should be added for new players. Like the Tutorial Mode in VF4: EVO. Or even something like the CCC2 ST Tutorial videos by Sirlin.
And +1 for making the AI better and/or harder. Not ST stupid hard though. lol
