Drilling VS Researching Renewable Energy? Why not do both? If we come up with a new energy source then oil will just stay in the earth since we won’t need as much of it anymore, but until then lower gas prices. I’m sure the earth can stand a bit more “raping” since we’ve been doing it for a while now. If you really want to participate in lowering the damage we cause to the earth then get off the internets, turn off all your power, stop driving, and kill yourself so you become compost to nourish new life.

That said, I’m seeing just as much hate towards Palin in the news as I see towards other people. I guess that makes everyone who loves Obama but hates on Palin sexist amirite?

Edit: Okay Partisanship I can accept. Arguing that a vote for Not Obama is a racist vote is fucking stupid and sounds like a Sharpton/Jackson argument.

About the religion thing…

It’s cool that you accept religion without letting it interfere with the scientific process. I respect that. I meant no offense and I hope you didn’t take offense to my comments, I merely dislike how some religious zealots will use stuff from the Bible to back up their arguments with nothing other than “Because the Bible tells me so”. Having faith is one thing, allowing that faith to define every feature of every argument regardless of scientific accuracy or logic is dumb.

Religion has helped Man through some dark times, but at the same time has brought on some dark times as well.

Thing is Palin kinda comes off like she would rather just drill for oil and that will be the end of it. As others have stated, she never mentioned her stance on anything and it was more of a “Fuck Obama” speech. To me, thats not a good way to make an impression but then again it seems everyone at that convention ate the speech up like it was good.

Actually most of Obama’s speech was made of real policy goals, and so were the speech’s of several other speakers. Even when they were attacking McCain it was usually by saying something along the lines of “McCain supported X policy, but that’s dumb for these reasons, and Barack Obama supports Y instead.” Again, even Republican strategists have admitted that the Republicans in this election cannot talk about issues. Their issues are wildly unpopular, from the war in Iraq to keeping the tax structure ridiculous to not doing crap about health care to whatever, they’re on the wrong side of the vast majority of issues right now. All they can do is trump up how awesome they think John McCain is and try to paint Obama and Biden negatively. McCain’s insane VP pick, with all her baggage, is making that a lot harder for them now.

I definitely don’t think that you have to be racist to like Palin over Obama. I’m sure that plenty of racists prefer Palin over Obama (and I’m also sure that plenty of racists on the other side of the color divide feel the opposite), but there’s no reason to suspect that racism like that is widespread. I think it’s just straight up homerism. Like, obviously she’s a bad candidate, and obviously her policy positions are disastrous; that’s why in her speech she said almost nothing about what her positions are and very little about herself and concentrated instead on saying bad stuff about what Obama wants. Sometimes the Daily show is the greatest thing ever. did anyone else see the the clip of karl rove saying that Tim Kaine wasn’t ready to be VP because He had only been a governor for 3 years and that the city he was in charge of was to small to be of any relevance on a national level of experience. And then a few weeks later have to say say that Sarah Palin WAS ready because she has over 1 year of executive experience and letting everyone know that she was mayor of the second largest city in Alaska, even though its much smaller than the city he tried to shit on Tim Kaine for running.
