One thing that I wanted to contribute is that Online play really doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things, as can be seen by watching professional players stream their online matches, etc. I recently started watching Xian’s academy on youtube, and he gets bodied online all the time on that show. This is an EVO champion, getting bodied by 1XXX PP players. Frustrating, yes, but if you don’t care as much about winning you’ll have a lot more fun. (I still like winning, but I’ve accepted the fact that there’s some stuff that I can’t punish online cause my reactions + lag aren’t good enough).
Hey guys, I’m the one who posted this thread originally.(unfortunately lost the password and email to the old account) Just wanted to check in and say that over the past 2 years I’ve drastically improved my game thanks to the supportive community. Over time I realized a few things that I wish I could have began doing earlier. Rather than playing while on tilt thinking that more experience is better, it caused me to develop a few bad habits. I would lose to mash DP a lot because I would drop my combos. If I tilted and continued to play my muscle memory would “remember” how to execute the dropped combo and I would continue to do it over and over resulting in more frustration, and perpetuating a vicious cycle. So in order to remedy this I would try to punish or confirm my jump-ins with a fierce or sweep. It seems scrubby but I feel that it allowed me to get sufficient damage(although not optimized) and more importantly avoid frustration. As execution was no longer a problem I was able to analyze my gameplay more and work on crucial factors like anti-airs. From here, as I continued to play more sets against similar playstyles I began to get more confident in situations and eventually was able to land better combos even including some 1 frame links. I feel that if possible its extremely important to be able to analyze and dissect your games. I was able to do this through recording my games and watching them over to find my “problem areas”. If I run into anyone who is looking for help I’m definitely going to refer them to this thread, and recommend they record and watch their own games.
