Because (and I’m not essentially agreeing with it as I didn’t watch John Wick for myself so I have no opinion on it) when you go into something with extremely low expectations and it turns out decent you can end up coming away with the impression that it was great rather than just being decent.

It’s a lot more common though when it comes to things like games, sports, wrestling and the like. Movies…it’s a bit tougher.

John wick is fun and it knows it. The story is dumb as fuck and the movie knows it. Sit back and enjoy that awesome gun fu (whatever the fuck its called). That’s it. It is not an oscar worthy film. It’s just there to be a fun ride

It’s because it was a good action movie in a sea of shit, like we live in a world where John McLain is boring and phones it in.

It’s why everyone went crazy over how damn good Fury Road was.

John Wick was ok for what it was, an unexpectedly solid action b-flick but deadpool 2 needs to be a bit more than that IMO.

Getting this guy for Deadpool 2 is akin to them getting Justin Lin to take over Star Trek Beyond. The result was great action wise and visually but rather soulless. Maybe if this guy just does the action scenes but they get in another director for the comedic/character building portions it can still work.

Seeing as Ryan Reynolds has a solid hold on Deadpool humour and he’s pretty much in charge of the film I believe the comedic/character building portions will work just fine.

it’s actually more in the vein of “the raid” but with less martial arts.

deadpool 2 will have to be just as good as the first one if not better. “don’t fix it if it ain’t broke” as they say but adding cable into the mix will def improve it’s chances.

1.they both involved an animal as a main plot point

  1. its basically a demo reel to show their industry what they can do given the chance(which ong bak was). that was the whole point of the movie…hollywood would never give 8711 stunt team a real shot as showing off what they can do. instead they had to cut their scenes in the american style. keanu took a risk and basically was doin these random asian movies as a lead up to get this done. alot of the team that was involved in john wick helped out in his asian movies.

Problem with that, is it will seem to unrealistic because Cena is a character on his own and that’s all I would see, even with pouches, guns, metal arm and glowing eye. Myself and others would still be like “This is just John Cena cosplaying in a Deadpool movie.”
