Itâs not even Colossus specifically even though he does have a fairly important and sizable role in this movie. Itâs about the authenticity and making sure that every gear in the machine is proper. Itâs important because how many super hero movies have came out where you look at the characters and see how they act and youâre just like âWhat the hell is this? Thatâs not even close!â If Deadpool is ever going to have a chance at becoming a regular mainstay movie character or even get appearances elsewhere, this movie needs to get asses in seats, and a big way to do that is for the movie to be real ass Deadpool and not what some movie exec thinks Deadpool should be. The characters need to be accurate, the story needs to be darker and more adult, it has to be real. If this movie half assed on anything, you jeopardize the success it will have as a Deadpool license.
(I am thankful that my sound was re-enabled just three days ago so that I could actually watch the most recent trailer. I actually want to see the movie now.)
UhâŚthatâs not who decked Colossus. Negasonic Teenage Warhead is the girl who decked the woman who decked Colossus.
Come on, you can easily check these things via IMDB and the like to see that woman in question is Gina Carano, who is listed as paying Angel Dust.
@Pterodactyl, Angel Dust used to be a Morlock who effectively had super strength via being able to give herself adrenaline boosts like Bill from Alpha sans cardiac problems. I doubt sheâll be a Morlock here, but the character is effectively a âbrickâ type of character, i.e. a heavy-hitter who character also usually has a measure of invulnerability. She seems like sheâs the âbig badâ's enforcer, possibly even effectively âthe dragonâ a.k.a. his second-in-command.
In addition to this irony, I find it amusing that whatever (possibly additional) power they gave this version of Negasonic Teenage Warhead fits her name far better than what little telepathy and precognition she ever got to show in the comics before she repeatedly died. Itâs a change that I can agree with and I say this as someone who generally likes non-indicative names on superheroes.
Yeah a lot of these X-men characters are being used out of context for some reason.
I can think of at least 2 comic-canon female characters who do the exact same thing as Angel Dust in this movie so I donât seen why they need to rebrand Angel Dust. Tale Kimura for example, she has the same power set as Angel Dust, and she was the one who handled X-23. The place she worked at was related to Weapon-X which also created Wolverine and Deadpool.
Gotta start somewhere. It honestly doesnât make TOO MUCH sense to include those characters in an origin story, if this does well and a sequel gets made, thatâs when you start looking into those characters.
(Yeah, Domino should basically be a lock for the sequel. Cable and especially Hydra Bob less so.)
Actually, now that this is coming up, I wonder: can the Deadpool movies even use Hydra Bob since the MCU has the rights to Hydra itself and the movie rights seem to be so exclusively split between studios? I mean, the MCU canât even use the word âmutantsâ currently, so Hydra Bobâs chances seem rather slim.
Meh. There are so many X-men characters, literally at least thousands, that thereâs inevitably some overlap there. I do agree, however, that Kimura would totally work, but I can understand why they wouldnât use her between being X-23 not existing (yetâthat may well be the focus of the third Wolverine movie) and still being unsure if Wolverine can even cameo. Hell, they might even not be able to use Laura because sheâs such a big name now, which would also make sense as to why theyâre using such âlow-nameâ characters like Angel Dust and Negasonic Teenage WarheadâColossus was the only big name they were willing to âfightâ for aside from Deadpool himself.
They could also be revamping the Morlocksâ origins as a whole, though, given that the sole other person we saw with powers in the âclinicâ had uneven-looking bone growths coming out of her back, meaning that was probably Marrow, who incidentally was also involved with Weapon-X later in her horrible life in the comics. Redoing the Morlocksâ origins overall would be completely fine with me, especially given how complicated it is and given that it would make Gambit, whose movie is maybe still upcoming, (far) less of an asshole if he needs to not be redeemed for being part of the whole âMorlock Massacreâ thing.
Nah, he doesnt, and he wont anytime soon im sure. Who wants to see the boy toucher bryan singer give us a shitty cable anyways. A proper cable, like how weâre finally getting a proper colossus, is more likely to happen in deadpool 2, than in the shitty xmen universe.
Comic fans deserve a proper cable, like we deserved a proper deadpool, and got it.
Well they even said they were close to including Cable but decided to save him for a possible sequel. Since they wanted to establish Deadpool without him.
like even this deadpool movie is pretty much based on 1 specific writers view of him. its accurate to that version but doesnt mean its accurate for all the deadpools weâve seen and so someone will complain its not like another version.
Comic fans deserve shit? Uh okay. Who cares what small percentage of the money make up actual fans and casual fans for these movies. You could say the same for star wars, or any fucking movie ever. Not everyone who sees a romcom gives a fuck about said genre either. Who gives a shit about that argument right now.
The very vocal minority usually find something to bitch about even for actually good comic shit. Very little bitching about guardians of the galaxy, daredevil, jessica jones, antman, the incredible hulk (arguably. people more hunch their shoulders to this movie, more than actually rip it apart), or iron man 1. Everyone bitches about xmen movies because they suck, with dofp and x2 being the only tolerable ones for me, and i could easily bitch and shit all over those movies too.
Most comic movies suck, and for no good reason. Horrible casting, unnecessary changing of certain characters and or villains, etc⌠Its kinda hard for fans not to bitch, because decades of books laid the foundation for you anyways. All they needed to do was cast the parts well, redo some parts due to licensing issues, lack of technology to properly do a character, and adjustment for current reality to make the movie a little more relatable.
I would say the majority of comic fans, and casual fans, are willing to look past small errors if the majority of the movie was pretty good. Maybe man of steel provided the most split amongst fans, but people always have had a stick up their ass about superman for some reason.
