DC Entertainment: No more Superman

She’s always been an awful actress, dunno why she got an Oscar … and worst, thanks to his bitching X3 is the shit what it is. All that diva crap.

haha ionno about that.

That, plus having half a dozen plot threads and not using any of them to the their full potential, killing off important characters in stupid ways, Angel’s stupidity throughout and defying logic of speed(like how he flew from all the way to San Fran in like, 20 mins from NY), etc, etc, etc.

Halle Berry is like Tommy Lee Jones. She’s at her best when she’s playing Halle Berry; otherwise, she just shouldn’t bother.

That reminds me-- Blade 1 was as much a ‘Marvel movie’ as Halle Berry’s Catwoman was a ‘DC movie.’ X-Men would’ve been released whether Blade failed or not.

Fixed for creepiness.

well, at least we have MKvDC…

Oh yeah, that show used to really have wild swings in quality and style.

My favourite string of episodes were a handful that involved Lionel basically manipulating everyone, I think he spoilers? poisons Lex, nearly kills Chloe and does something to Clark as well.

Then they also had a lot of batshit insane crap like Witches and ancient civilisations and Jor-El’s ghost and stuff too.

I think it would be dope if the new Superman movie was moral based more. Make him the big blue boyscout. Give him a decision only supes could make. Maybe kill off his son and make him control his urge for revenge type of thing i dunno

I am just really tired of Superman fighting Lex Luthor. Have him fight Darkseid or someone who at least has super powers for Christ sake. He is the most powerful comic book character ever yet he is always fighting a bald guy…LAME!!

I think DC is really trying to say “Everything live-action we’ve let people do with Superman in the last 10 or so years as either come out lame as hell (Superman Returns) or a Dawson’s Creek wanna-be (Smallville) and we’re really not to happy with that.” I think they need to do a modern-day setting animated (Bruce Timm on designs, of course) version of Superman 2, minus the losing of powers. Maybe toss Batman in there, since he and Supes are tight now. Those fuckers WERE taking over the whole world, after all.

They pretty much ditched plans for a direct sequel to SR, and that was before the recent decision to put the franchise on the back burner. I think it would be for the best if they told a story not in continuity with any of the previous films.

If Superman is in a slugfest with a superpowered villain, he’s guaranteed to win. If he’s against someone who uses brains rather than brawn, there’s no guarantee. Superman isn’t stupid, but he isn’t impossible to outsmart. He is, for all intents and purposes, impossible to outfight.

Besides, and I realize this is a fanboyish thing to say, I kind of feel like Darkseid doesn’t belong to the Superman mythology. Yeah, he’s a part of the mainstream DCU and he’s tangled with the big heroes a number of times, but if Darkseid’s going to be on the screen, it should be related to Kirby’s other stuff. It would be like introducing Magneto by putting him up against the Fantastic Four.

I’m sorry, but I couldn’t pass this up.

That’s why I think Brainiac would be the better choice, since he’s super powerful and super intelligent AND possibly intangible (I would imagine in a live action movie, he would take the form of a super computer virus or something, akin to Skynet).

The smartest modern portrayal of Brainiac is easily the Animated Series version. Not only is it the best of both worlds–both a super-intelligent computer program and, at times, a super-powered android–but the writers found a way to up the personal factor. Brainiac chose to value Kryptonian culture over Kryptonian life, which is the kind of cold logic that clashes perfectly with Superman’s compassion.

I still think my idea is the best, though.

two ways to go about Superman in a feature film.

Translate All-Star Superman into a Movie or make Lex Luthor: Man of Steel (staring Kevin Spacey).

either of those two would just be to awesome to pass up.

A glimpse of what problems Superman has listen to Kevin Smith (who was to write Superman).

I mean production-wise, Blade and Catwoman weren’t advertised as Marvel/DC movies, aside from the fine print.

It was always Dawson’s Creek with superpowered teenagers. The problem came when the writing lost the little subtly it had in its writing, started throwing things against the wall from all over the Superman and general DC mythos to see if it stuck and had the most cliched stories on television.

Not even the handful of decent actors on the show could save it most of the seasons.

I kinda lost hope after seeing Doomsday jobbed to Clark so effortlessly…

Fuck, I keep on getting Singer and Ratner mixed up.

Superman movie was shit.
X3 was shit.
X2 was good because it had Kelly Hu.
