DC Comics Thread

Well if you look at the last issue of SCW (i think it was GL #25) there’s a little teaser for Blackest night and it says:
“They will descend upon our worlds to claim the loved ones we’ve lost”
“And if the universe is to survive WILL POWER and FEAR must come toghter beacuse”
"Across the universe the dead will rise"
So im guessing that Hal and Sinestro will work toghter

Bout the RL dontknow’ but there’s a one shoot coming up soon about them

Is anyone else reading dreamwar dc vs. wildstorm?

I want the green lantern books to come out faster. Blackest night prediction: Oa gets destroyed by a giant schoolbus. Schoolbuses are the bane of green lanterns.

just picked up Trinity #3 , Final Crisis #2 and Superman / Batman #49 , all of it was worthwhile reading. I dunno if its nostalgia , but i still think Mark Bagley is the best thing ever to come…finally one of my all time favorite pencilers start drawing something i wanna read again.

Final Crisis was hyped up by DC as the biggest thing ever …its still in the starting blocks i guess… didt really feel blown away by reading it. i guess the thing about trinity that i like is the art… storywise i dont feel like it hits the roof eighter , the backup story is longer than the actual story …or it feels like it at least. Im sure once the storyarc gets going itll improve greatly…im buying it for the art regardless.

superman batman was probably the best one of the above mentioned issues storywise when they sort of close the chapter on the K “Kryptonite” story arc with a couple of omg moments. (especially when a certain childhood friend of supes pushes a certain button she shouldt have , and when a kid genious ridds the earth of a certain substance ) anyways good stuff

So…
Batman #678 is out and like every other good old Morrison read, I DIDN’T UNDERSTAND A FUCKING THING the story goes too crazy for me and i kinda like it lol, guess Grant is taking his LSD again.

You cant tell whats real and whats not real (well you can tell some obivus parts that are not batman connected) oh and ZUR EN ARRH to you all

To all the guys who are reading Batman R.I.P, read this, go nuts : P

This is huge

It’s Joe Chill. It’s Joe Chill. It’s Joe Chill.

The Black Glove is Joe Chill and “Honor Jackson” is Joe Chill in disguise. The bum talks about having done nothing with his life except maybe having “saved one life”. That life is Bruce’s–in this issue and when Joe Chill spared Bruce’s life after killing his parents. In 673 Chill was self-deprecating about his life much like “Honor Jackson” is here.

Why did Joe Chill spare Bruce? Because Bruce’s face reminded him of his own son’s. What does “Honor Jackson” keep saying to Bruce? He keeps complimenting him on his face. He did this in his first appearance, saying “You have a very kind face” in 676, and immediately afterwards Tim asks Bruce, “When was the last time you heard THAT?” This is just an in-joke on Morrison’s part: the last time Bruce heard someone compliment his face was in 673, when he overheard Chill explaining why he didn’t shoot Bruce.

“Honor Jackson” apparently dying because of drugs that he purchased with the money Batman gave him (in 676) mirrors Joe Chill’s apparent death due to Batman as shown in 673. Both are suicides: “Honor Jackson” supposedly overdoses after Batman gives him the means (the money to purchase drugs with), and Joe Chill supposedly shoots himself after Batman hands him the gun. Except Joe Chill didn’t die–it isn’t shown in 673 but we (and Batman) hear the shot and ASSUME he’s dead. (What goes in a glove? A hand. What does the Joker deal in DC Universe #0? A dead man’s hand. A supposedly dead man’s hand is what is inside the Black Glove–and that person is Joe Chill. In DC Universe #0 the Joker tells Batman that the Black Glove is doing this to him “because he deserves it”. Batman would “deserve” payback for an act like driving someone to suicide, don’t you think?)

Why the name “Honor Jackson”? The answer to that is the reason behind the genesis of the whole Batman saga. Bruce only lived, and went on to become Batman, because of Joe Chill’s decision not Honor his own son by not killing Bruce. What was Joe Chill’s son’s name? I’m going to take a wild guess and say that it was Jack–Jack Napier, the Joker. We’ve often heard that the Joker is who he is because of Batman, but this twist would also mean that Bruce Wayne only lived and went on to become Batman because of the other little boy who went on to become the Joker.

The shadowy figure in the flashback, who injects Bruce with heroin and crystal meth–That’s not Dr. Hurt. That’s Joe Chill as well. Look at the silhouette–it doesn’t match Hurt: the collar is higher and the hair is different and parted on the other side. (And we’ve already seen Hurt on the previous page, so what would the point of putting him in shadow now? The backgrounds aren’t even the same. Hurt has Bruce surrounded by demons, but on the next page we only see Bruce and the shadowy figure alone, in front of the Batcomputer.) Who else in this issue wears a coat with a higher collar like that? “Honor Jackson” does–just look at the silhouette of “Honor” telling Bruce to “Walk it off” on the page facing the shadowy figure. This figure injects Bruce with drugs. Who else is responsible in this issue for getting Bruce drugs? “Honor Jackson”. The two figures are the same, and they’re both Joe Chill. The clincher is when the shadowy figure asks Bruce “How long has it been?” and tells him he’s “grown”. While the whole readership is worried that this is Bruce’s father, it’s not–it’s Joe Chill, who hasn’t seen a grown (and unmasked) Bruce Wayne in decades."[/details]

This spoiler is a theory right?
Anyway i still think its Thomas

It’s a theory indeed, but I think it’s safe to say it’s one of the better ones.

And lol at Dick. Chances are that he’ll have his revenge before all is said and done.

Pretty damn solid theory to me, I’d believe it honestly. I would follow this, but I think without some type of drug I couldn’t get Morrison’s full message. Plus the issues were sold out, so I’m stuck waiting on TRADES.

BTW i don’t know if you guys noticed but this isnt the first time we see Honor Jackson he was also in #676 where Batman almost ran over him with the new Batmobile and Batman said to him “You have a kind face”

Oh and anyone else laughed when Bruce and Honor ran with the shopping cart

The whole ordeal with Honor Jackson was just an hallucination.

yeah thats how i read it. ive read batman 676,677 and 678. but i missed out on the other parts of Batman R.I.P what numbers of Detective Comics is it ? or is there a Batman R.I.P checklist somewhere ?

Actuly you don’t need to read any other comics beside Batman for R.I.P (thats what Morrison said)
but if you have too

Batman #676-681
Detective Comics #846-850
Nightwing #147-150
Robin #175-76
Batman and the Outsiders #11-13

I felt like I missed some stuff when I read then new Batman. I’m only collecting Batman and Det. Comics. Is a lot happening in those other issues (in regards to this storyline)?

You know who haven’t shown up in RIP yet?..
The fake Batmen, I know that the Joker is goona show up next issue but where are the fakes Morrison will no doubt show them sooner or later (cause he won’t go all the trouble creating such character and giving them an important storyline without using them) the only question is when and where.

I liked the idea of the fake Batman’s, but that story wasn’t anything new. In Astro City: Family Albums or w.e the clown guy (Tired and can’t remember) Is visited by two possible future versions of his soon to be born son. I like the concept though and love to see it repeated, little “What If’s?” are cool in my book.

EDIT:

Is Green Arrow back? The “Original”? I saw a copy of Batman and the Outsiders with him on the front, and wondered if he was or not.

Johns continues to deliver the goods in Action comics #867 the Brainiac arc is shaping up to be one of the best superman stories in years

Okay, I’m about to start reading Nightwing from the very start.

Will I be able to follow the stories as is, or will I need to read certain Batman stories first?

Your good.

Cheers!
