DC Comics Thread

Really enjoyed Wonder Woman and JL this week.
Supergirl #2 was OK too.
Not liking Katana’s mental issue in BoP TBH, did she have this in her early appearances? Also her outfit is still lame.

There is a Joker in Dark Knight Strikes again… Spoiler for an old ass comic -

DKSA

Spoiler

It’s Dick Grayson

 • but it isn’t the Joker that we know who died in Dark Knight Returns. Ack that’s a spoiler too! Well if you haven’t read Dark Knight Return by now let me know so I can insta-ban you. Ha ha just kidding. Maybe. :badboy:

I have no idea what story X_Sword is talking about though. With so many Batman Elseworlds stories out there it’s hard to remember or guess. I don’t think it’s a story I’ve read before though.

If I can find some type of preview page for Dark Knight Strikes, I could probably add more if it is the one. If anything, I can crap out a short sketch of this Batman off muscle memory. I think Joker wore the batsuit in this comic as well

EDIT:Was there any Batman story where Joker kills Batman and takes his suit?

Heh there was an episode of The Batman where Joker wears a Batman outfit.

This week I really enjoyed:
JL Dark #2 (although it was more character focused than progressing the story I guess?), All-star Western had Jonah kicking some serious ass , and I hope Aquaman 3 picks up the pace.

I liked Superman this week , Flash was also really good . My favorite DC book though was Blackhawks .

Picked up :
Aquaman - really liking the angle they are going with with series. I am sold.
Dark Knight - Im still not a fan of this particular Batman title, ill give it a couple more :frowning: It def improved from #1 though story wise.
Teen Titans - I like it. I really like the new team is shaping up and the vesatility of each one.
The Flash - Love this title, Liking the new unlocking the new brain powers…Whats that movie called where hes so smart he can predict the outcome of certain events. Loving it.
Justice League Dark - Really really liking all the voodoo stuff going on. Constantine is that truth. I prefer this over Superman this week. I might grab it some other day.

Summarizing/bitching of what I’ve read:

Mr. Terrific #1&2- why do most Black superhero comics have to continually remind me it’s black? I can tell that he is, in fact, black from the art thank you. Just some things he says"you were saved by a black superhero" what difference does it make? And the white girl-black girl catty fight/chat over him? Please. Between that and the science mumbo jumbo (I am a retard on that, was well done I just couldn’t understand it) I think Mr. Blacktastic will be dropped.

Nightwing #2- this story is getting worse, and had absolutely no build up to the previous issues story other than a vague dying old man saying. Why give him the circus, why? So he can explore the world? It’s such a stupid and forced event that doesn’t make a lick of sense. The story sucks, between Deathstroke and this Kyle Higgins writing is just sub-standard. Art is nice (mostly), but it might be dropped.

Aquaman #2- not bad but I agree with Tizoc, it didn’t really go anywhere or do anything. And the aqua jokes got old during the middle of the first issue, we get it, now stop it.

All-Star Western #2- Fantastic, as expected. Still not liking the art so much, but the story (both main and sub) are so engrossing. They advanced the plot well without giving it away, apparently that is hard for practically every other DC title and I don’t understand it, that’s basic narrative 101.

Superman #2- Improvement over the first. Still, static storyline and I still don’t enjoy the thought bubbles that aren’t thought bubbles but really are but are being narrated to me like I am reading a novel. Passable issue I guess.

Got a ton more to read…expect more negativity, bad mood.

Only new DC comic I read this week was Aquaman. I agree with you guys. I hope it picks up soon. By the end of this arc Aquaman needs to do something that the entire world will give him props for.

I can’t believe Johns and co brought back those lame ass communication rings. Johns please go read back issues or watch some Superfriends DVDs to get your fill of rings and update stuff that needs to get updated.

I am happy you stuck with Aquaman for the second issue Sano, proud of you.

BUY or SELL

Jim Lee leaving Justice League after 6 issues to focus on “editorial duties”

The Red Lanterns book being dropped(BTW I think the book is slow because of Ed Benes)

I dunno I thought the second issue of Red Lanterns was quite good , much better than issue 1 which I did not like at all

Red Lanterns already? It’s only two issues in lol. I blame Ed Benes as well since Peter Milligan is a saint.

Jim Lee off JLA already? Rofl.

Red Lanterns is dying already? What the eff?

Limitless the movie starring Bart Allen.

Namechecking Milligan is a good way to draw me out of my cave and force me to post a comment in the DC thread.

Is anyone surprised Jim Lee’s off JLA after six issues? Why would anyone expect him to stay on for any longer? I’m surprised he’s not leaving after three issues like Silvestri is bouncing off Hulk.

He is writing Red Lanterns and Justice League Dark Zephy, JLD I find more “Milligany” and very cool.

No one expected Jim Lee to stay, Sano even had a bet going.

Good week for DC overall ,picked up Action Comics , Detective Comics, Men of War, Hawk and Dove , Batwing , Green Arrow and Red Lanterns

What are some great Al Ghul comics?

You should check out Batman: Evolution and Batman: Death and the Maidens, both written by Greg Rucka. Death and the Maidens isn’t a direct sequel to the first trade, but it’s a companion piece of sorts. Amazon says it’s out of print, but you should be able to find it on eBay.

JLA: Tower of Babel is probably the most famous Ra’s Al Ghul story in the past decade or or so.

They also just released a trade on Rhas Al Ghul’s first appearance and the story arc, with the great Neal Adams doing dat art.
