DC Comics Thread

Yeah the art is a good draw, it caught my attention…even if Arsenal is wearing a damn trucker cap. How much more redneck can he get?

If any of that could actually help her, it would have been done by now. Rumor has it that her legs came back by Lazarus Pit.

If so that is the laziest method out of them all.

Me too for Red Hood, I am giving quite a few of the new 52 a shot and seeing how they grab me. I hate to admit it but I am getting Teen Titans just to see if Red Robin is going to be a bad-ass or if the book is going to be bubble gum.

Pleasant surprise so far was Batwing; I thought it was great.

This reminds me of an image which showed various DC characters getting cured from what normally would’ve made them paraplegic or such and Babs is in the last panel going "hmph =/"
Didn’t save it sadly.

So this week i think im getting Batman(obviously), Red Hood, and Wonder Woman(convinced after i read something here about it having ‘horror influences’). How is Nightwing looking, Dick looks cool but I don know how many Batbooks I can handle lol.

If I can offer my thoughts on the relaunch so far:
Lemire (i think) is the star of the reboot to me. Frankenstien and Animal Man are my two favorite books to this point so strange and original (to me). B&R was amazing, Damian is an awesome character and I can’t wait to see Bruce and his’ relationship grow, also I can’t wait to see the 3 Brothers R come back (guys Damian “killed”.) Batwing was interesting(Massacre has potential) and can be a good series but tbh i found myself constantly confused about where in the hell anything was happening due to the lack of any sort of background.

Lazarus Pit, only explanation in the BatmanU.

This.

Not really, remember when Jason Todd came back? Larazus pit.

Remember when Dick did a really stupid move with what he thought was Bruce’s body? Lazarus pit.

Batman has come a long way sure, but creative thinks the only way for Batman & Friends in the DCU to get fixed or revived is ancient magic pits scattered across the planet (Which are very limited and rare) on a near constant basis.

I’d be more impressed if they just found a cure that can fix the dead nerves through Wayne Tech and cured her like that.

The real word reason why they never get Barbara out of the chair is because the former editor in chief, Paul Levitz was against it. All of the people who wanted her out of the chair because they want comics to be the exact same way they were when they were kids (COUGH COUGH JOHNS COUGH) really wanted it but Levitz said no.

Because DC has received hundreds upon hundreds of letters over the years from people who are handicapped who thanked them for having a character like Oracle around.

Even the great Paul Dini was a HUGE advocate for getting Barbara Gordon out of the chair for years. You’ll note that Oracle never appears in the DC Animated Universe. In Batman Beyond she never becomes handicapped. Of course she does show up as Oracle in a future episode of ‘The Batman’, IE a show that’s not part of the DC Animated Universe.

Anyway Dini’s proposal (there was at least one that is known) was shot down by Levitz for reasons stated above.

Levitz is no longer EIC so the old foggies get their way. Not that Levitz is a spring chicken but he was a lot more sensible about this issue.

This is going to sound cold in retrospect so I apologize to handicapped people or others struggling with weight issues, but I wonder if any overweight people have ever thanked DC for Amanda Waller… :badboy:

Oh and drat all hopes of Gabourey Sibide (Precious, The Big C) ever playing Amanda Waller are probably out the window. I would buy ten movie tickets to see her slap the shit out of Christian Bale Batman. :lovin:

Lmao…That would be an amazing movie.

Wed wed cant wait…

Picked up-
Batman #1/ WonderWoman/ GreenLantern Corps/ Nightwing / Captain Atom…Really good read this week. Prob the best DC reboot week yet for me.
Batmans art is amazing. Took me a while but I found the monitor hood lady in all of them.

edit- also read Red Hood and the Outlaws…Todd and Harper fit well together imo. Starfire, im not used to this new found sluttyness.

I really liked Nightwing and Batman too this week.

Red Hood not so much, also because of this new incarnation of ‘Slutfire.’

I really liked the artwork on Red Hood though so might continue just for that. Guess I’ll have to see how I feel about it in 30.

Red Hood and the Outlaws #1
DC Universe Presents #1 featuring Deadman
Wonder Woman #1

Read what I can tonight and post up thoughts and recommendations tomorrow.

^^ I laughed at this picture when I saw it today. smh

So early thoughts:

Batman is must read, I don’t care how but you must get it, Snyder is very talented with him and careful. His pacing is just about where I like it and he tries to respect what Morrison did before him while carving out his own niche and I am so grateful that at least one Batman title is AAA status.

Nightwing I was pleasantly surprised with, I still hate the fact that he isn’t Batman but what can I do about it now? Story was good, art was decent if a little to Jim Lee-ish, and the Daken look-a-like villain had my girlfriend going all fanboy so all is good.

I got to disagree with Sano I thought Red Hood was fantastic, but in a different way as the comic just made me laugh a lot and played out like an 80’s action flick, which personally isn’t bad. Not every comic needs to be super serious awesome writing time and I liked the EXPLOSIONS and TnA factor to break up my more serious reading outings.

Also Starfire would get it good gang, just saying.

They are all younger, overall all DC heroes were made to be younger to freshen it up or something.

And yeah despite no press about it, it certainly feels like the Batman/Nightwing arcs are connected in some way.

Overall the Batman titles feel closer together than before to me, it will be interesting to see if they do a lot more interconnectivity.

Read Blue Beetle before work. Lovely art and a decent if somewhat rushed story but for some reason I’ve become a fan of Jamie Beetle over the last year. His Mexican Spider-man meets Iron Man story and how he is a “local” hero for me is cool. DC doesn’t have a lot of Teen heroes with their own titles in the new 52, and he’ll have to come to terms with these powers and explore how to use them.

If pulled off right it can be a memorable run, but if it hits a snag and falls I feel it will plummet to depths that cant pick it back up. I really have no idea why.

Ya Batman&Nightwing were pretty amazing. Batmans tech nowadays are insane.
Gonna go pick up Catwoman and Supergirl later on the day. See how that goes.

Higgins talks about writing Nightwing.

Nope but…it was joked about on the internet…

Gonna try and read up on the 52 books by next week.

Read Wonder Woman and DCU Deadman this morning. WW is in my top 4 now, Deadman was good but a bit wordy, loved the art though.

One more week of New 52. Do you all plan to stick with what you’ve got or any drops along the way? I don’t plan to get Green Arrow anymore, that issue just sucked and they ruined my favorite archer. He’s just so…bland, it’s back to being a poor copy/paste of Batman for him.
