Am I the only one who read OMAC #1?
Art could’ve gone with better inking but it was kickass non the less IMO.
EDIT: OH YEAH, does anyone have DC Showcase: Sgt. Rock Vol. 3? Is it worth picking up?

Good 52 week! I picked up:
Green Lantern #1.
Batman & Robin #1.
Deathstroke #1.
Demon Knights #1.
Friend got Suicide Squad, give that a read soon. Red Lantern Corps sold out lol.
I really loved green Lantern. Wanna see how Sinestro’s gonna handle this ordeal. I picked up Red Lantern aswell, too much atrocitus talking.
Gonna read the rest tmrw.
Deathstroke was good as hell too.
So, uh, what did they reboot in New 52? Im hearing a lot of things like. They only been at the Superhero game for 5 years, they’re younger, Shit got erased etc.
No one really knows, it’s all over the place right now. For example Justice League is in the past, but so is Detective Comics. But then Batman titles are supposed to remain the same from before, same as Green Lantern. But that doesn’t work since one Bat comic is in the back, and the rest retconned some stuff. FKLRJKLNKLNGRKJLRKL
My brain hurts over all of this.
Huh, Sounds like one odd cluster fuck right now.
Justice League #1 story right now is showing 5 years ago before they all met up. Action comics is showing when Clark is trying to figure himself out. He hasnt developed all his powers yet; his outfit is just a t-shirt pants and boots. So pretty much some of the titles are going back just to show a newer side we havent seen before. But some titles like Green Lantern/Red Lantern/Batman Robin and some others picked up right where they left off. But im pretty sure little twerks have changed in the timeline because of flashpoint. Also barry never married Iris.
Thoughts on New 52, week two.
[details=Spoiler]
So we have ourselves a new week of releases, and since I got a lot and want to share my thoughts without ruining other peoples enjoyment, SUPER BIG SPOILER TIME!
Green Lantern #1: You’d think I would go for the Batman title first, being the resident Bat Nut here? Well you are wrong, wrong I say!
#1 issues are so hard to gauge by themselves, where a lot of questions needs to get some answers before the final page is turned. I think Green Lantern did an admirable job of letting me know what was up and be less confused, while still retaining a ton of questions that can lead into multiple story arcs. From beginning to end I was entertained and impressed by it, both visually and within the dialogue and liked the story that played out.
Hal’s fall from grace was hard, and yet even in the midst of it he can’t stop being the stubborn fool he’s always been. Each page I had a different reaction: Sad he is down on his luck, indifferent to asking Carol out, angry at him for leading Carol on and asking for a handout followed by being sympathetic to his ability to not adjust to a normal life. Even if he was taken off as the actual Superhero, this still felt like Hal’s adventure to me. Sinestro though commanded every single page he was on, this is a Villain/Anti-Hero who’s a joy to read and can realistically carry his own title for a long time. All and all, it’s a fantastic read and starting point. As a guy who is regularly confused by the inner workings of GL this was one reboot I was all for.
Demon Knights #1: A fantasy comic in every sense of the word, just starring familiar (Or familiarly named) characters of the DC Universe. It’s a stretch but the comic reminded me of Heavy Metal if it was slightly toned down and made some god damn sense (Substance abuse not withstanding). So who’s are team so far? From the looks of it we have the Naive Jason Blood and the badass Etrigan the Demon, Madam Xaaaanadu, an Ambigious Shining Knight, Vandal mother fuckin’ Savage!, an Amazonian woman with a hard to say name, An Arabian DC rip-off of Assassin’s Creed, and a mysterious shadow figure. So far, so good.
Story was interesting, it felt like I jumped into the middle of things but it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. I liked the progression even if the gathering of heroes at the tavern felt forced and a bit contrived. How would all these more than ordinary individuals somehow all manage to meet in one particular tavern before a huge enemy invasion? I’m sure it’s magic!..or just a coinky dink. Mordru made a nice albeit powerful lacky, and showed he’s a villain to not be fucked with when he exploded a BABY! To be honest I have no idea who the female with him is, she wasn’t recognizable to me and they never said her name as far as I know.
As an on again/off again DnD player and a player in all types of Fantasy it really tugged at my fan strings and produced a wicked tale that reminded me of Robert E. Howard’s Conan mixed with the insane concepts of Heavy Metal meets a group of heroes with odd quirks and enough team dynamics to remain interesting. Personally, I loved the hell out of this comic and hope it last’s for at least 12 issues. Mainstream Hack 'N Slash Fantasy is a rarity these days and I applaud DC for taking a chance with established if not well known characters.
Batman & Robin #1. So here we go, the second Bat title of the new 52 I’ve been interested in reading (Sorry Batwoman, I’m not into you that way). I had so many questions going into this thing: What time setting is this in? Will it be affected by the new 52 initiative and timeline? How will Bruce and Damien get along after their ill fated former venture? It was enough to get me to pre-order a copy before the eventual sell-out…and thank god I did.
Right of the bat (Oh ho ho, I am good!) we are introduced to badass Russian Batman, who I have dubbed Baneman (It seems Batman, Inc. was still a successful venture in the universe and it was all answered on page one to boot). He apparently just wiped out a group of Russian filth with his manly presence and was in the process of wrapping this u-OH MY GOD WHY DID HIS LEG BEND THAT WAY?! Suddenly within a few short panels Baneman was looking like an idiot, completely trounced by a foe he could not see with a visually impressive display of power.
Moving on, we have Bruce and Damien shenanigans for a bit. My god, I have no idea how Bruce could hold back his Bat Pimp-slap when Damien started the sass train, it’d started on page four and just continued until the end. Patience with people I thought was never a big point for Bruce personally, at least when they are involved closely in his affairs, but Tomasi held Bruce in reserve and to me it worked well. It felt like after their last disaster Bruce really wanted to reign himself in and get to know his son better. Despite the dissimilarities you can’t help but notice, page after page in any comic, that Damien IS his father’s son through and through.
Damien is a tiny little time bomb, and to me personally DC’s best new addition in the last 10 years. He just fits so perfectly in this universe and brings a sort of chaos element to the usually solid and friendly Bat family. You know what? Damien don’t give a fuck, he could care less if anyone else liked him or not (Except Dick, deep down he is a softie for him. Fuck Tim though). In some way’s as Tomasi’s story played out it seemed Damien sort of resented his father, that or he was punishing him for not being more involved with him. Either way, listening wasn’t his strongest trait in this issue.
The story progressed well enough. We see how cold blooded the new villain is when our newly introduced Russian Badass Batman (RBB) is dipped in a pool of toxic acid stuff like a boss. Bruce and Damien mop up a group of villains and in a disturbing twist, Damien could have killed three men (I personally think he did, but unknowingly) and jeopardized Batman’s position and leverage. He wasn’t playing by Batman’s rules, but he seemed to go rather easy on him. Then we get the hook: Bruce doesn’t trust Damien, and Damien does not like that. This is what it’s all about and frankly it makes sense, Batman isn’t one to be so buddy buddy quickly. I also think Damien is resentful of Dick leaving and them not working together anymore, that dynamic was one of the strongest bonds in comics I saw develop before my eyes and if Damien has human emotions…he misses him.
Enough personal speculation and jibba jabba. Batman and Robin is a title worth your time and every bit as interesting and well, weird as the last one. While it can in no way live up to Morrison’s bizarre world I think that’s an unfair comparison, and Tomasi has a great handle and his own feel he brings to the title that frankly, I really enjoyed.
So far despite all my hate for the New 52 and all it’s confusion, drama, and self hype I haven’t read a title I haven’t enjoyed in some fashion and as a fan of this genre that couldn’t make me more happy.[/details]
When I get around to reading it, will put my thoughts up on Dat Deathstroke.
Picked most of the new 52 this week. Today Ive picked up Batwoman and Demon knight. No complaints so far. But can anyone explain where is Cassandra Cain?
Batmna being discussed in the Marvel thread? Now that’s something
Thsi isn’t the Arthur Curry Aquaman,it’s supposed to an Atlantean foot soldier
My comic store sold out of the 1st issue of Detective in a matter of minutes from what the owner told me & they won’t be getting anymore copies in another 2 weeks, that works for me.
Well Geoff Johns will be writing his series focusing on the creatures of The Trench, which my be pretty good.
Yeah I enjoyed the 1st issue of Green Lantern.I had a feeling the Sinestro Corps were going to do whatever the hell they wanted to when Sinestro ain’t around to keep them in check. The last page spoiled something,I wonder if I wasn’t the only one that caught it?
^ Thannx…Btw did you guys even notice that the lady with the pick hood in the end of Flashpoint( rumored to be time trapper or new monitor) she is in every new 52 comic that came out, hidden.
-Found her at Batwoamn #1 aswell.
Total mindfuck right there, I have like 8 or so issues and I don’t remember seeing her once, but the human brain is an interesting thing…
^ Im also leaning for her to be a monitor. Even though most time Trappers have hoods.
-trying to reread Grifter to find her. Nm got her.
I was watching an episode of Young Justice and noticed that Lex Luthor seemed like he was in a government position. Is this supposed to be when he became president of the United States?
The world of Young Justice is supposed to take place during the third year of the DC Universe (three years ago Superman arrived at Metropolis, Batman waged his war on Gotham, Wonder Woman came to America etc.) so I doubt it, way too soon. Lex might just hold a political office of sorts.

=O So THAT’S who was in the swimming pool in Batman and Robin #1.
Quick rundown of books I read and/or liked-
OMAC #1:
Both Kieth Giffen and Didio did the story and art on this book, and their 'immitation’f Kirby’s art…is hit or miss to me =P My main complaint about the art is the inking which I felt could’ve been better. Non the less this was a fun action packed issue, and it would appear that
Darkseid has a need for Cadmus Industries seeing how Mokari’s there
Batgirl #1:
I don’t think it was mentioned how Babs got cured right? Guess we’ll know in later issues, overall a good first issue and I liked the art.
