DC Comics Thread

YAY welcome to the Bandwagon

As much as Booster himself is “The Greatest Hero You’ve never heard of” the Booster Godl Series is “The Greatest Series NEVER advertised” which kinda reflects the ethos of the hero (if ethos is the right word… so correct me if i’m wrong  ) as a Genuine Champion THAT EVERYONE SHOULD REMEMBER AS A MORON trust me there’s more to his history as the series progresses.

If you’re kind of a fan of Marvel’s Exiles it somewhat follows a similar premise, but is narrowed down to one reality.

Blue and Gold arc is Really a “Crowning moments of Sadness” and the “Killing Joke” part really touches on the points Rip Hunter has made.

There might be some issues with the logic of time travel and how some believes it should work, but hey TIME TRAVEL does NOT exist so it’s better to take that device at face value and enjoy the stories.

Dan Jurgens unlike John Byrne still delivers Crisp art with beautiful inks by Norm Rapmund (though Brett Breeding and Art Thibert are IMO tied as his best Inker)

I’m tempted to do annotated issues here with my personal review if only i have the time.

Yeah I loved the Exiles, which is why I think I really enjoyed the series, as the whole time fixing and seeing a lot of what if? scenarios has always intrigued me.

Yeah the Killing Joke moment was very sad, Booster tried so fucking hard. I was very relieved that finally, at least someone finds out about his true calling and appreciates it for what it is, and of all people I didn’t expect it to be him lol.

But it’s great, probably pick the rest of the trades up later this weekend.

Man all this talk about Booster Gold makes me want to read Showcase presents Booster Gold, collecting the original 80s BG issues. I’ll prob. start reading it from tonight/tomorrow.

Are you okay?!- I would also recommend giving Jonah Hex a read.

Jonah Hex? Does he have any current work going on? I got a lot on my plate, but if it’s a good tale I’d check it out, I love westerns and really been a fan of Jonah since the Batman: TAS episode of him I saw when I was a child. That reminds me the Jonah Hex and BG getting drunk scenes were pretty funny.

Skeets was cracking me up to, usually with his personal vendetta against Maximillion, his “Arch-Robot” or whatever lol.

The current Jonah Hex series is mostly stand alone issues, but you should read his older stories that are collected in TPB as they’re pretty entertaining.

Sounds good, when I get some spare cash after collecting Blackest Night and Booster Gold, I’ll look into them.

LOL and The Joker has PIS on his side everytime I mean if he kept coming back over and over again, with the capacity of Blasting Joker out of existence, it must take an awful lot of “Conveniently contrived” eventualities that kept him losing all the time? I wonder if those scenarios involve a vase falling on his head, or him slipping ona banana peel.

In an Exagerrated note it’s like The Silver Surfer coming back each time and getting folied by err The Terrible Tinkerer or The Lethal Enforcers lol

I just don’t think BG was really thinking, but then again you can’t really memorize the Joker’s pattern, even going back to events that happened he’d just be a wild card. That and it just can’t be fixed, but he nearly destroyed himself trying and it was very heroic to me.

Cool, see if you can get the latest issue of Jonah Hex; #57 wherein
Hex stops a horse by tackling it’s feet! Well it looks like a tackle to me ^_^;
I agree.Morrison IS basically the Batman universe.Even though his writing is like a complicated offense in the NFL,it’s great reading nonetheless(Example:All-Star Superman)I don’t know if anyone will agree but I would love to see him tackle Green Lantern Corps

NOT ONLY would I love to see that, I would love for him to be the creative visionary that expands the cosmic DC line-up…

Marvel has an Excellent cosmic track record of books of high quality that doesn’t even need their Top Tier (companywise) heroes to sell.

DC mostly butchered their own with only two cosmic titles… Green Lantern Corps and R.E.B.E.L.S (which is mostly a refuge of the cosmic related DC chars that didn’t sell which I also would want Morrison to write) Legion of Superheroes is Arguable.

Morrison’s writing has a set pattern but his concepts are something to behold AND he has respect for the Mythos of the work he’s handling (maybe for except his New X-Men run)

I’d like to See DC expand their cosmic beings

We’re simply stuck with The Spectre and the Quintessence, I want Kismet, Destiny, Rao, and even some of the Vertigo Cosmics (BTW thanks AC for one of em’ )

Brightest Day Teaser pic.

And here…we…go.

Dammm

I knew the “Aqualad” thing, but nothing else. Good thing I am following this series and it’s shaping up to be excellent so far. Although I hope by that image that Black Manta does something badass and Aquaman does not die (I have become a BIG fan of his recently, probably one of few.)

Anyone else think Mera should be nominated for most improved character design in the last year? Seriously, no one should mess with Mera, my favorite female hero now.

Mera is the best character design hands down.I’m interested in her origin though.BTW how long is Brightest Day anyway?

The latest issue I’ve seen, through those books that show future issues for stores to order from is like 12. So it’s a big series from the looks of it.

Going to get my JL: Generations Lost variant today along with free comics.

I fucking LOVE comic con news.
