DC Comics Thread

The all Superman in New Krypton thing? no cause he co-written it with Robinson and i’m hella not gonna read Robinson stuff
and if you mean the all Mon-el stuff than no for various of reasons (Rucka not being one of them)

I had no idea the series was cowritten with Robinson, but even so it was a fun read and really enjoyed it.
You should give it a read because of Rucka’s writing if you’re into his work.

IMO Greg Rucka’s run on Adventures of Superman circa 2004 (yup simultaneous with Azzarello and Lee’s For Tomorrow)Pre-Infinite Crisis. is the best Superman run outside of anyone named Buseik, Johns and Morrison. AOS 2004 (around the ruin-villain era) was either the top 1 or 2 comic in the industry at that time.

Is it just me but is James Robinson = DC’s Jeph Loeb nowadays.

^That’s going too far I feel. I may not like Robinson’s Supes stuff but it would seem very farfetched to say he’s DC’s Loeb.
What issues of Supes did Rucka write back then? …and if they are collected, what are the TPBs called?

Interview with Morrison regarding Batman’s return. I always enjoy reading his interviews.

Yeah my bad… I used to like Loeb, from the Long Halloween to Hush but It seems it all went to his head now.

The TP’s it’s Unconvetional Warfare, That Healing Touch, and the Road to Ruin. I loved these… but that’s just me (I Guess part of why i loved this though was that during this time, Spidey had the “Sins Past” arc which kinda turned me off from Spidey… My Then-favourite comic series)

Jeph Loeb’s finest hour is Teen Wolf. James Robinson wrote Starman, dammit. And The Golden Age. I don’t give a damn what kinda shit he churns out now as long he’s getting paid for it. As far as I’m concerned he has diplomatic immunity for life. (Even though he might’ve stolen Clinty’ Asian girlfriend.)

I found this interview with Joe Casey somewhat elucidating in regards to DC’s editorial management style.

I think he pretty much sums up their general incompetence, only he does so in a magnanimous way.

Quitley cover for Batman and Robin #13 with the J-man

Return of Bruce Wayne was dope! The caveman-speak was difficult for me to read through but otherwise I enjoyed it.

ROBW

Spoiler

Caveman Batman curb stomping Caveman Vandal Savage a long time ago HA HA HA! :nunchuck:

Quite a cliffhanger for War of the Supermen this week.

OH NOOOS…

Spoiler

A bunch of Kryptonians were flying back to Earth including Superman and Supergirl. They shot a missile into our sun and turned it into a red sun (?). All the Kryptonians including the Supes peeps lost all of their powers instantly and are choking to death in outer space! IT’S SO BAD IT’S GOOD!

Who else read Birds of Prey #1? Cuz at the end…
was that Cassandra Cain?!

I don’t know, but she’s probably the only person who isn’t Shiva who could beat down Canary like that. But the shit makes no sense, it wasn’t that long since she left and gave the mantle to Stephanie, so…wtf.[/details]

ROBW was dope
MAN OF BATS FTW
Big lol at Bruce giving caveman-joker the evil eye

Return of Bruce Wayne is indeed pretty cool. Sano, how is War of the Supermen?

It’s alright. Good stupid fun if you don’t take it too seriously and boat loads of people get killed every issue. Me like violence! Emphasis on ‘stupid’ though. Turn your brain off (WAAAAY OFF) and sit back and watch people die. DC’s gotta clear that Kryptonian Chess board before JMS takes over.

Braniac and New Kypton (from Johns) was good to decent but Since Robinson took over, it’s been a mess. It’s absurd how a “Superman” Title can work without the lead… it’s like Reading a Hulk story with Daredevil being the lead lol …

And it’s also way beyond suspension of disbelief how easily general Lane’s Project can blow up New Krypton and torment the kryptonians when a comparible but MUCH better organized faction like HAMMER can’t give asgard that much trouble (outside of the sentry)

ROBW meh… can’t get into it much yet.

But i’m optimistic about the Brightest day… I’m looking forward to Giffen and DeMatteis run on Booster Gold… That series is uber underrated.

right now Invincible Iron Man followed second by Green Lantern are the best books in the Market IMO. (well since this is DC i’ll say GL towers above them all)

It would’ve been a blockbuster had it been done right (Lane vs Zod) with lots of story potential. and less the mindless killing.

I agree to an extent, but I still would at least want the Kryptonians to be a part of the current continuity albeit in a very subverted fashion, since The Bottle city of Kandor was one of the most influencial part of the mythos in the weisinger days… Hmmm put it back in a bottle?

Darksied is coming to Smallville!!!
I usuly don;t give a crap about this show (only watched the key episodes like the Checkmate one and JSA one and the one with Maxwell Lord)
But the season finale had (well i think…) Granny Goodness in it
So i’m stone positive gonna tune in for next season for the coming (and probaly to see how they’ll fuck up…) of my favorite DC villian…
The prophet of the Anti-Life
MUTHAFUCKIN’ DARKSIED

Hope this isn’t “Jobberseid”

Yeah ne too
Maybe the season will have a big flashforward episode and the entire planet will be enslave by the anti-life like in Rock of Ages or Final Crisis
