There’s more in Louisville and Lexington. They’ve made it out a few times and put up a strong showing. Hopefully we can get them out for this.

Michigan getting involved is still not for sure yet. Waiting on some reports back from Amanda about who she can get a hold of up there. Soon I’ll post up in the Michigan thread and see what kinds of responses I get.

Having Kentucky involved would be awesome, and I’m hoping that the IV scene down there can come together and make up a strong team. Haven’t heard anything yet on their thread.

Ahh , I see what your thinking about nathan. But regardless I was thinking of the consideration of everyone. Because if you combine cincy and dayton we have alot of people who play the same characters. What if they end up qualifying on the team?

Like for example what if Voulkan and krono both qualify…

or me and zach both qualify for the team? Ya know?

Thats why I still think we should do city vs city.

Gaming party with the Fort Wayne crew – 12/26

Hey gang. Didn’t know if this was worth posting because it might not be worth a 2.5+ hour drive and also it’s Christmas time. Anyway, most of you have probably never met our friend Abe but he used to come to tourneys with our Fort Wayne crew and he’s a real cool guy that is easy to get along with. Women, try not to let your jaws drop to the ground. J/K.

My point is that he occasionally hosts gaming parties at his house. It’s been awhile since he’s held one but alas he is gonna throw one this Saturday, December 26. It will likely start around 7pm and usually lasts until something like 3am or 4am, sometimes even a little longer. Sadly he cannot offer anyone to stay the night so you’d have to retreat for home (or a local hotel and there are plenty nearby). He also offers anyone drinks. He has pop and alcohol but he won’t give you alcohol if you are driving or under the age limit, so he’s a responsible host. His girlfriend is also going to make a few pizzas and I can assure you she is an awesome cook! :lovin: He only asks that everyone gives up $1 to help pay for just a portion of the food/drinks for the night.

He has 2 tv’s which will be put to good use for SF4, Tekken 6, CvS2, and probably a little 3S. Probably no HDR or BB and definitely no Smash or GG. Sorry.

He also has arcade games in a few spots in the house. The controls aren’t perfect to be honest but it’s all on free play so it’s all good. He’s currently got ST, Metal Slug 4 (I think it’s 4 but could be a different one), a combination KI1/KI2 machine, MvC2, XMvSF, MK2, AvP, and SFZ3 Upper. He’ll have all these playing for free all night on arcade cabinets.

Finally he always throws a mystery tournament each party. Free to enter and top 3 get prizes, which in the past have varied from things like Evo t-shirts to SF action figures and even little statues, SF2 6 button control pads, etc. The games vary. Typically a current fighting game so probably SF4 or Tekken 6 but he won’t say and last time he threw us a curveball and called Fight Night Round 4.

Anyway this is all the cool points of his parties I can think of. Might not be worth it because it starts late and sadly you have to find your way back home or to a hotel afterwards. But just throwing this out there if anyone is interested for those of you who know our crew (me, Dave, Gary, a few others). If anyone is interested just write in our thread or send me a PM and I’ll gladly supply the address/phone # or whatever info you need.

I will also make this post in the Cincy thread. Even though I like the Ohio players I still can’t figure out who exactly is from Dayton, Cincy, etc.

@Quentin: I definitely see the reasoning, and obviously having multiple Rogs and Abels on a team would be boring. However, I think that if the best players all happen to play certain characters, so be it. To me, variety is not as important as staying on time.

It’s a rough balance, but a statewide 5v5 does allow for a greater chance of variety amongst the top 5 qualifiers. Characters would be locked in for the qualifier and for the team tournament. So the inability to counterpick may actually help put some players in the top who would not ordinarily be there.

Perhaps neither Kentucky or Michigan will be interested or be able to find enough players, so things could change to where Cincy and Dayton would have to be split up. Or Indy and Ft. Wayne would have to be split up. Right now it’s hard to tell, but I’m sticking with the statewide 5v5.

TF2 up and running for the most part!

Time to see how bad I am at shooters!

Or, we combine, do the qualifiers and eliminate characters as they qualify like at MWC.

That sounds interesting, Adam. How exactly does the character elimination work?

Well at MWC they ran 5 mini-tournaments all single elim. Once somebody qualified they would scratch their character from the list until the team consisted of 5 different characters (i.e. Antwan won with Rog first, no more Rog). In some ways it blows because some people can use multiple characters, but really its better if you just go in with your main. If you can win with an alternate, more power to you. Also you have to stick with the character you intend to play the whole time, no switching/counter picking. Although some people think this can cause issues because of bad match-ups…eventually those people might qualify and you won’t have to deal with them later.

So guys, when’s the next GG ranbat?

I’d love to go but I have no ride.

Are you back around/gaming again Matt Moreland? Since I did kinda find two guys who actually want to play/learn GG.

Took two years… but if you’re around and they’re around we should try to set up some more sessions.

You going to AL Wednesday Jason?

Indeed. Yes, I am back to the capacity that I was before hiatus. I think. For now. It felt really good to be at a tournament the other day, so I want to be back in it and possibly do better next time. Do you have ABA Nick’s number btw? He seems to have fallen off the dustloop.

According to AL’s website, next GG ranbat appears to be Jan. 23. Can anybody confirm or deny this?

Nathan or anybody that has recording equipment, what kind of video capture equipment do you have, and is it possible for me to borrow it? I’ve wanted to make a Testament tutorial for a while now, but I wanted to do it with direct video, and not from a camera so that it would actually look decent. If it’s not possible for me to borrow it, maybe I can set up a recording session some time.

I think I can help with that, except I can’t let you borrow it because that would involve borrowing my laptop as well. Setting up a session wouldn’t be a problem though…I’ll wait until I settle back in with school on that one and I should know for sure. Is that ok?

If a consensus can’t be made soon please get moving with the qualifiers.
I will give up my spot if internet drama is required to play, but it would be a shame if it came to that.

This is fine tentatively, but if anybody has something I could borrow for a week or two, that would certainly be better as it relieves pressure from me, and makes it easier to go back and add things that I may have forgotten.

Kris may be willing, although I will let him speak for himself. lol. I’m not sure how his capture device/software really operates, but it is a much smaller, less complicated setup than mine.

Yeah? I’ll have to ask him. If we go with your set-up, I’ll just have to make sure I have a list, and then if I don’t get everything down in the first session, schedule another, and then if I think it’s done and post it up and somebody tells me to add something, will have to schedule another session.

Edit: so I checked just now and found that there already is a Testament tutorial up all of a sudden, so my motivation for this just went down a little. Still, it only shows combos really, and doesn’t explain much as far as move application and stuff. Hmm… Btw, Jason, ain’t now ABA tutorial up yet. Think you could do one?

So thats how could work? Hmm… still sucks for the person who has no secondary.
Oh well… guess you gotta bring your A game right?
