Dayton, Ohio: Where fun goes to die

Mains for games:

SF2T: Cammy (I know right? )
Alpha series: Guy, Cody and Gen
SF3:3S: Yang AND Q
SF4: Trying to re-learn Cammy for a whole new generation of her being not as good as she should be.
GG: Potemnkin, learning A.B.A.
Blazblue: Haku-men
KoF: Mary was my favorite, but she isn’t in XII so I’m still up in the air about it all
Jojo: (I didn’t even know people still played this!) Chaka
MvC2: Jill + Psylocke + Ruby Heart, although I’ll sub in Son-Son… and this team is mostly because the game is such an acid trip and so far beyond my grasp in so far as EVER getting good at it that i just have fun with it. Pirates, Zombies and Psychic Ninjas with Personality disorders? That sounds like the team for me.

I… don’t know yet. I thought I was going, but now there’s car problems and stuff. I’m sad.

Pinky, you don’t get to complain about how bad everybody is until you start beating us. Guilty Gear is better than Blazblue.

Oh, yes, Guilty Gear is much better… All of the people I hang with are playing Blazblue though, so I am too by the transitive property…

Oh, and I know for a fact I am going to get schooled by every single person on this board in every single game I play haha. It’s why i posted on here. It’s an open invitation to anyone and everyone who wants to kick my ass in a game to do so…

I’m just talking about the overall lack of just… OPEN community. I’ve been told about a few places around where the players get together, but I am new to the competitive scene, and newer to Cincinnati.

And I’m not complaining about the lack of skill, just the lack of a big scene for it.

-_-

You stop learning ABA right now…Ohio has too many…way way too many…

…j/k…but just know that the state breeds ABA players like a pandemic virus…So everyone knows the matchup now. And yes this is coming from an ABA player.

Anyway, you play a lot of mess, so just keep up with this thread and you’ll run into a casuals day at some point.

Now the REAL reason I was posting was to inform people I’m picking up that I may not be picking them up, and I MAY not even be going today. Only reason I wanted to go was for the ranbats, but uh, seeing as how by time I get down there they might be half over, I doubt I’ll even get a spot or anything like that…And I don’t want to pay 12 dollars for casuals.

I’ll text you guys too, but for the most part it looks like I won’t be making it.

Ok well just text me if you are or arent going jason.

Yo Arkayne, with the failing of the PS3 or 360 Marvel 2 to overtake DC, I’ll need you hook up a custom DC one.

Shiet, I was counting on the PS3, so I could use a dualshock. I got hungry to play the game recently thinking the online would be good.

If you can, I have a few custom colors I’d like, and I can tell you the soundtrack or send the songs to you.

Ok Cool , Ill have to breakout the programs again. I think I stil have the CD-R I saved them on if not Ill just go download them again.

Just give me a few weeks to get back doing them. I have alot of projects and finals for school next week and stuff.

no rush. thanks.

Adam the in pin is shit for marvel. Let me know when you want it back. I wish I could get my money back for this garbage port.:annoy:

No, but seriously, pick another character before you get too obsessed with ABA. I mean, you don’t have to, but there are already 3 ABA players in Ohio. It would ultimately be better for the rest of us if you could learn somebody else before you get too used to ABA.

So matt… Looks like Ill come back to the Good side.

I-No , my love how much I have denied you!

Weird, everyone is playing GG now xD I just started playing #r about two weeks ago and am trying to find some emulated AC

Also, I sent a kind of lengthy apology to Adam but he hasn’t responded–is he still that mad or does he have me blocked or what?

How many Faust and/or chipp players are there in OH, out of curisoity?

I know Nathan plays Faust/started learning him, and there’s another Faust in Colombus I think…

And I know some dude who plays a Reload/Slash era Chipp, but never really learned AC Chipp.

Matt can fill you in on anyone I don’t know about though.

As for the rest of you Dayton people trying to learn GG. I’d laugh if I wasn’t bitter and angry.

well im not “trying” im going to re-learn… the little that I did know MUAHAHAAHH!

oh btw I dont think i have to tell you folks who this is: Hopefully I dont.

Did this sketch rendition in like 10 minutes.

So I guess you’ll be learning GG.

Matt, I get why you’re so upfront sarcastic now.

huh. Guess I’ll have to get another ps2 for AC, I’ve been out since #R.

I’m on the fence b/w Faust and Baiken. I like 'em both, and am leaning toward Baiken since she really appeals to me character-wise.

@Quentin: So are you the keeper of DC Marvel? As a fellow unhappy purchaser of the PS3 version I’d like to get my hands on the DC version and just buy a converter or two. Kinda grinds my gears, but what can you do? I’m hoping that Capcom will actually fix the problems, rather than just walk away with the money.

Jason, what do you mean? I think I was this way before I started playing GG, tbh.

Quentin, I’d like to believe you but. . . history says not to. I hope history is wrong this time. I-no is not nearly as rewarding to play as Arakune (actually, if you can actually do her combos, it is more satisfying, just less in-game gain from playing her.) Nice Cid drawing, but he looks cross-eyed. Also, Kain from FF4 is probably my favorite FF character, and I like anybody in 6 over anyone in 7, but you young’ns wouldn’t know anything about that. I’ll just say that basically characters used to be different from each other, and you weren’t able to customize them all into the same character. Hopefully that will give you some idea of why I like those games better.

Rune Kai, Quan plays Faust sort of. He’s actually pretty decent for the amount that he’s played, but I don’t think he really likes it that much. There are like 2 or 3 people in the US that main Chipp, and there is a reason for that. If you can be sweet though, we’d love to have a Chipp player in our ranks. However, since Faust is the better character, I would feel more comfortable recommending him to you.

Nathan, if you’re leaning towards Baiken, play her. She’s good, and few people in America know how to play against her. You have to switch up your style vs her because of her free alpha counters. You basically have to make sure you stay out of range of them, or do jump cancle-able moves so you can jump and fd or whatever you need to do. Most people aren’t used to doing that. Sad part is you’ll forever be in the shadow of SH_, who lives in Columbus, but the good news is he’s awesome and he can help you. He went to SBO this year, so he’s easily one of USA’s top players.

Also, there’s a good Baiken and Faust in Kentucky, and they head up our way semi-frequently, so don’t be surprised to see them around at ranbats or SB or whatever.

Guys, let’s get together and play Guilty Gear this week or something. I missed the ranbat and am sad.

I think this is our list of real somewhat-dedicated GG players in Ohio, give or take a few who I wasn’t aware if they’re still active or not.

SH_ - Baiken
Jack G - Robo-Ky
Kamui Moon - Order Sol
Delpheous - ABA
Donpatch - ABA
Josh Ballard - ABA
doragonkoroshi - Testament
Macarthur Blunts - Slayer
Chippy - Zappa
Oiboi - Zappa
DizzyNecro - Dizzy
Paul - Dizzy
Matt (from Cbus don’t know his last name) - Eddie
Seriousface - May (if he still plays)
Chickenfat - Axl

Oh yeah, and I was going to ask, not being familiar enough with Marvel, what’s wrong with the ps3 version? Is it at least better than the ps2 version?

For Mahvel, owning the JP PS2 version and that PS3 version, it’s just an overall buggy, laggy affair. My personal experience with it has not been for the best as the lobby system seems to want to lock up on me and force me to restart my system or I get into a match to find teleporting sprites, that last part may be more an issue with my internet connection than the game itself so take that one as you may. As well all of my problems have stemmed from the online portion of it as I’ve not really played the arcade on it yet.
